Comments about Zildjian K Ride Cymbal:

This is a great ride cymbal. It's very versatile. It can be used for any style, especially Jazz and Funk. This cymbal has great stick definition over a subtle dark wash. The bell just sings! I can't find anything wrong with this cymbal. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

      Excellent All-Around Jazz Ride

      By Anonymous

Comments about Zildjian K Ride Cymbal:

I own the 20" version and it's a great all-around jazz ride. I like this ride because it can make a really wide range of sounds; it has a nice combination of pinginess and wash. There are a lot of rides out there that only do the "ping", but the problem I see/hear with these rides is that they are very one dimensional. You can get a perfect ping on this ride--you just have to use a stick with a small-beaded head and know how to execute a proper cymbal hit for jazz purposes. Unlike the ping rides though, this baby has tons of depth, washiness, and a range of dynamics--in other words it is complex and can deliver a boatload of different sounds. The bell is AMAZING and the best I have heard on ANY ride--perfect for Latin or Funk. The ride itself, as I have already said, is excellent for jazz-both bop and fusion. I can't say this is a great ride for heavy rock, but it sounds great when I play Jimi/Mitch Mitchell tunes, so not all rock is out of the question. But, this ride is really made for jazz, and if you only own one ride for jazz, this is the one!

Comments about Zildjian K Ride Cymbal:

The Zildjian K series 20" ride works extremely well for recording drums where the kit cuts and the cymbals sit. For players with a refined sense of velocity in their strokes. For 'riding', I found the 20" to best match the sound I imagine for a ride: cuts in a smooth way, no sharp attack, ping blends into wash. Responsive to your touch.

For crash/riding the 22" SEEMED ideal but the 20" won the shootout with its overtones in a guitar-heavy track. Very slightly less gong-like than the 22" though a drummer would notice more than a listener. If you want to "fill out the sound" during solos, the 22" might suit you. Much less bright than the 20" A Custom ride but you should hear for yourself the blend of crisp and mellow. Demo in your room before you buy, or return in 30 days and try the different sizes.

As far as durability, not sure how much abuse this guy can handle. Seems about average 3 months into playing it regularly. I'm afraid to bang into the thing like I have with Zildjian As, but fortunately it crashes extremely well with softer controlled blows.

For versatility, this is just bright enough to work with A Custom hats or a crash if need be, too mellow for K Customs. As always, best suited with Ks. In my room, it makes Sabians seem metallic when mixing the two manufacturers.

Play it with your kit in your room before you buy it.

Amazing for everything except maybe hard metal

Comments about Zildjian K Ride Cymbal:

I got the 20 inch ride with some special deal for 200$. This ride has the most perfect blend of ping and wash I've ever heard. It's perfect for jazz, and probably anything else you will ever play. You might want a ride with more ping if you play metal or in very loud live settings, but this ride will cover everything else. many different sounds you can get from this cymbal such as really nice bell sound, light sticking sound, heavy wash, and gong-like crash. Especially great for jazz-influenced and experimental genres.

Comments about Zildjian K Ride Cymbal:

I own the 22" version, and it is a very nice cymbal. The warmth of the ping sound is so sweet on mine, it's what drew me to it immediately. The bell is not very large, and it took me a little while to learn how to work it. It is a good bell, with a nice pitch and tone, although not particularly loud. The crash sound is dark with low overtones, more gong-like than shimmery. The best thing about this ride is you can really lay into it, and it never gets too unruly. You can mix in small crashes with the shoulder of the stick, while riding, and get bursts of extra tone. Again, the regular ping of the main body is so mellow and sweet, it is unique and special. Very pricey, but I think it's a keeper, so that makes it worth it.

Comments about Zildjian K Ride Cymbal:

I use this Cymbal in a very stripped Set-up. I love to have a A,K,A Custom Mix, So I use my 14 New Beats, 18 A Custom Medium Crash, and this 20 inch ride. The K ride is so Versatile! I was using a Sweet Ride for a long time, but when I played this one, I switched over. So many different sounds, blends perfectly with any pair of A hats and mixes beautifully with an A Custom crash (or Sabian AAX or Vault Crash).Crash on it, ride one it, it sounds amazing. Just enough wash that is controllable, the way a ride should be.

Comments about Zildjian K Ride Cymbal:

the k ride is a good cymbal, but the tone is very deep and dark. it also has a long ring to it. i own a 22" k ride and its not very good for a more rock tone. if you're into jazz, the bell on it is very impressive!

Comments about Zildjian K Ride Cymbal:

I have owned a 20" k ride for a few years and it is the best sounding cymbal I've ever heard. Almost made the mistake of giving it up for a 22" k ride which I owned for a short while. Both sounded great but the 20" is definately superior. Amazing dry ride sound for softer music, but gets lost in loud music. Best dark crash soud I've ever heard for soft or loud music. And the bell is quite possibly the best I've ever heard. Clearer than my 21" A custom medium ride.

this cymbal is a must have. i had trouble deciding between either this cymbal or another one and the other one was a 22 inch. i bought the 20 inch. they are both awesome and you get a rich sounding ride with confidence because it's zildjian.

Comments about Zildjian K Ride Cymbal:

One word: Wow! One of the best rides I have ever heard. Clear stick definition, soft wash, nice and low overtones plus a good ping sound. The cons to this cymbal are that it isn't loud enough for rock, etc. The bell has a very nice sound to it but it is not loud enough nor does it cut fast enough. People who are thinking about buying this cymbal should consider the Zildjian K Heavy Ride because of the volume, bell, and cutting ability.

Comments about Zildjian K Ride Cymbal:

The is one of the greatest sounding rides on which to crash, and also for low intensity music. Heavy music drowns it out, and stick definition is not a clear as I would like. This cymbal sounds better than almost any other recorded - if you are going to record primarily, I highly recommend this cymbal. For playing shows, go with a heavier ride.

      Amazing cymbal

Comments about Zildjian K Ride Cymbal:

I bought this cymbal used for 140 bucks.Best deal I've gotten in a long time. This cymbal is perfect. Really the only music not suited for this gem is heavier metal. I wanted an A zil. med. ride for the crashability. I found a k custom med. ride on the used rack at my local drum shop. I took it home and it sounded great but....it was a little too heavy and the bell was decent.I traded it for this 20" k ride and just blows me away. Great ride, great bell great crash! Great cymbal.

I own the 18" version for about one year and I love it. I use it as a crashride and I mainly crash on it, even though it's a ride. It's very very washy. Do not expect a loud bell from it.

Comments about Zildjian K Ride Cymbal:

I have this cymbal since 2001, so I know mine very well. It is simply amazing and every body who hears it raves about it.Excellent balance between ping and wash. Smooth, dark, woody feel specially with light sticks), but at the same time it has a great sounding and loud bell. It doesn't projects too much, but it is perfect for accoustic gigs and for studio work. It has a very nice dry and dark crash sound. I also have a K heavy that I use for loud setting, but the regular K is one of the most versatile cymbal I've ever played. I would love to try a 22".
