contrary to what most reviews say...the body of this cymbal does not sound that bad at all. its no a series sweet ride but its still an okay sounding body to a ride cymbal. and obviously if you buy a mega bell cymbal your main concern is the bell. the bell is amazing and no matter how much youre rocking out to a song...youll never miss it. and the body though it is pretty good it's not too versatile and if youre playing stuff that requires a subtle sounding body on occasion...yeah, this cymbals not for you but it still sounds pretty good. great bell, pretty good body.

i love zildjian cymbals. i've been playing percussion for 10 years. this cymbal disgusts me. listen to the audio clip, then go listen to a zildjian medium ride or *especially* a zildjian ping. the mega bell ride is a great idea, honestly it is. but the fact that the bell is so big, and the cymbal is so heavy, gives it an awful sound. since the bell is so big (which makes the rest of the cymbal very short), this cymbal has no room to ring or make a good sound. i gave this cymbal an 8 in quality because it was built by zildjian, and its thickness would make sure that it would never break. but $*** for a cymbal that sounds like it should come with a starter set is a huge waste of money. for the same price, pick up a regular zildjian ride, or if you really want a cutting bell sound, buy a zildjian ping ride. in the end, the only people that should buy this cymbal are people that find it somewhere for $*, or drummers that somehow break a lot of ride cymbals and don't really care how their cymbals sound.

This ride is by far the best I have ever used for Thrash Metal. I play in the Minnesota Metal Band Malitia and I have 0 complaints about this ride. It will NEVER break, it cuts through everything. and it doesnt sound weak like a lot of rides do. The Ride SOUNDS metal. So if you play real metal youll love this ride.
For heavier types of music I definitely recommend this cymbal.
The best ride cymbal i've ever used!!! The tonal quality is amazing, and its looks and design are as good as its sound.
I've owned this ride for 6-7 years. The sound is nice and clear, and that big bell is very very nice. I love it, but just recently the sound has gotten worse because I've found 2 cracks forming on the outside. So I'm getting rid of it, but I liked it so much I'm buying a new one really soon here from Musician's friend. I'm a Death Metal/Black Metal/Thrash Metal & Punk/Metal drummer, so I guess I hit pretty hard, and the shows I've done will pay for it. I can't wait for my next one.
This cymbal is great. You can hit the bell with the bead of the drum stick and it gives you a great ping sound which is good for riding the cymbal. Also if you hit the bell with the shaft of the stick it will cut through everything. Perfect for a metal drummer. It is a little to heavy to ride on the cymbal though, which is why I gave it a 9 overall.
I bought this a year and a half ago. I bought it, for the bell. I got what I paid for. The bell is probably eight inches in diameter. You can't miss it, and it sounds great. I love the large size of the bell, because, if I'm jamming out hard, and just want a quick shot at it, I can't miss. My only complaint is that the bell is the only part of the cymbal that sounds good. But that's what I bought it for. If you want just a good ride, don't buy this. Go with a K custom dark, or session. Maybe an Avedis Series.
This is by far the best ride I have owned. The sound quality is amazing. It's great for metal and hard rock.
Sounds great, it got a nice ring to it.
This ride is best suited for metal. Zildjian came out with this in the 80s when there were no ride cymbals for metal music. The huge cutting bell and massive weight made it the ultimate metal ride cymbal. I gave it a value of 8 because the cymbal doesn't have the versatility to be used in other settings.
This cymbol has a great sound if your into a rock or metal style. The cymbol itself is heavier than most other rides, and that extra weight makes it ring out for a longer period of time. But when your playing with someone else its hard to notice. This cymbol has a sharp, crisp sound. I'd recommend it to anyone.
