Deering

Put your guitar licks to work on a banjo!

Tuned like a Guitar, Guitar players can get up and go with this 6-string banjo - Uniquely Deering, the Boston Banjo breaks with tradition and provides a professional quality sound at a lower price point by creating the drum from 3/16" rolled steel which rings like a tone ring. Also, upgrading the accuracy of tuning by way of guitar tuners with a higher gear ratio than the traditional banjo tuners.

The uniquely Deering Inlay pattern gives you visual beauty enhancing the great performance. This banjo is the preferred sound in country recording studios and in non-traditional bands like the Keith Urban Band. You can hear this banjo played on Keith Urban songs like "Someone Like You" and his Grammy award winning "Sweet Thing." It has big resonant bass notes that you don't find on a 5-string banjo, and also crisp highs for that beautiful banjo tone.

Tone:
Has the sweet sound of mahogany with less sustain for clear notes. Crisp highs and good bass response with less overtones than many banjos. Easy to play with clarity of note separation. Great for recording.

Tuned
E,A,D,G,B,E for standard Guitar tuning, can also be tuned in other tunings

Strings recommended
XL D'Addario Guitar Strings, other gauges can be used, however to get the best banjo tone it should have light or extra light guitar strings or electric guitar strings.

Hunter-South--March 10,2011 Received my Deering 6 string in 4 days. After tuning, I found the B-6 creates excellent note distinction, the Clarity is awesome and sparkling crispness. Well worth my investment . It's one of those gotta have it, if you play Acoustic Guitar.

I have owned a B6 since 2003.  It is a fine instrument for hymns and old time tunes as our band plays.  I like the "clunky" sound of a clawhammer style banjo with bass added at no extra cost.   It plays easy and notes true with a sound that is very much banjo.

The quality and sound of this Deering banjo are awesome! Action and intonation were set up perfectly. Very nice resonance and balance. My Celtic band members love the new sound.  I will be using this banjo often!  Good job, Deering.

I tried a cheaper 6 string banjo but this one really has great sound and is easy to play. The craftsmanship is excellent. I am impressed with the quality of sound and have many friends who feel the same. If you are in the market for this type of instrument spend the extra money and you won't be disappointed.

I just received my Deering B6 and I can already see that it will be one of my favorite instruments.  I own 15 assorted guitars.  I have been playing flatpick style bluegrass guitar for about 3 years now.  The Deering B6 will allow me to do some banjo music without the learning curve of a new instrument.  To me, the banjo sound is perfect.  The B6 has good acoustic volume and also sounds great when played up the neck.  The B6 is a bit on the heavy side--but a substantial strap will give you the required comfort for long sessions.  I played my new Deering for almost 3 hours on its first music session without any pain or strain.  In my opinion, the heft of the instrument is a sign of quality.  The fit and finish overall are great.  The wood, the hardware, the fretboard all look great. I have a cheaper resonator guitar--but it is no comparison to the Deering.  I will be donating my resonator guitar to a  budding musician in need.
