OVERVIEW

A modern take on a classic resonator from the only-and-only Dobro.

The Dobro Hound Dog M-14 Metalbody guitar has an easy-to-play round neck and features the renowned style and sound of an American original that' been dazzling and inspiring musicians since the late 1920s. There are a few guitars that can cross generational lines and attract the instant attention of players everywhere no matter what style of music they play. In the world of electric guitars, Les Paul is one of them. And, in the world of acoustic guitars, it's a great metal body resonator guitar.

The Dobro Company, much like Epiphone, is one of the revered names in the history of American guitar makers. The Dobro Hound Dog M-14 Metalbody, brought to you by Epiphone, is the perfect instrument for players who want the beautiful articulation of a metal body guitar for blues, fingerpicking, jazz, or even light slide for classic Delta or Hawaiian styles.

Case sold separately.

Classic Resonator Body: The body of the Dobro Hound Dog M-14 is made from bell brass with nickel plating with a 18-1/8" lower bout width, a 10-3/8" upper bout width and a depth of 3-1/2". The tone of the Hound Dog M-14 is rich and full with quick decay that makes both fingerpicking and slide smooth and easy in all registers. The mahogany neck has a natural satin finish with an easy-to-fret 1960s SlimTaper neck that' joined to the body at the 14th fret with neck-stick construction. The rosewood fingerboard has pearloid "dot" inlays with 19 medium frets, a 12" radius, and a bone nut.

Dual Action Trust Rod: The first generation of original Dobro instruments look great but often suffer from warped necks or poor intonation. The modern Dobro Hound Dog M-14 does away with all of those old problems thanks to a dual-action adjustable truss rod and bone nut which makes it easy to set up the Hound Dog M-14 to any style. The strings sit on a hard maple saddle with an ebony cap. The headstock has a rounded "Dobro" shape seen on rare (and expensive) vintage models. The Dobro Hound Dog M-14 Metalbody also has a vintage styled 4-color "Dobro" decal with the iconic harp logo.

Grover mini-Rotomatic Machine Heads: Tuning the M-14 is made smooth and intuitive with Grover mini-Rotomatic machine heads with an 18:1 ratio, and the Hound Dog M-14 comes ready to play with D™Addario EJ42 medium gauge strings.

Like all Epiphone family instruments, the Dobro Hound Dog M-14 Metalbody (Round Neck) comes with a Lifetime Limited Guarantee and expert 24/7/365 Gibson Customer Service.

Bought this sight unseen and was a little apprehensive about that...sounds great, superb quality and the sustain and projection was great

Comments about Dobro Hound Dog M-14 Metalbody:

First off, it almost blinded me when I opened the shipping container. Very high polished mirror like finish on the nickel plating. Aside from the gleam of the plating, it's actually a fairly plain looking guitar. No binding on the neck and a decal "Dobro" emblem on the head stock. The end result is a very authentic looks which suits me just fine. The action can best be described as slightly higher than most acoustic guitars out of the box which I also presume to be intentional given the traditional slide use. It is very playable as a "non-slide" instrument but that seems counterintuitive. It is a Dobro after all. Odd that there are no serial numbers or reference to Epiphone but that also lends to the authentic look and feel. It is very heavy so seated playing would be preferred. As for the fingerprint thing, anywhere you touch, no matter how briefly or lightly leaves a print. I highly recommend keeping a clean micro-fiber cloth in your case unless you don't care about that. Overall it is what it;s supposed to be. A brass bodied, nickle plated slide that sounds, looks and plays just like it should.

Comments about Dobro Hound Dog M-14 Metalbody:

Out of the box it is a very striking, shiny, and beautiful.
It sounds like a poor quality standard acoustic guitar. Resonator sound is minimal at best. No depth or tone to the sound and the action is high for standard playing and too low for slide.
