I've had this banjo for over a year now. I love it. It took me this long to finally get to installing railroad spikes because I've been terrified of damaging it. It's a beautiful instrument and extremely fun to play.
I've also dealt with Gold Tone via email and telephone and I have to tell you how great a company they are. I sent an email question at 9:30 on Easter Sunday. Within two hours, I had a reply from the President and Founder. I've called up to order a coordinator rod for another banjo I'm making and they were quick and helpful. They gave me a 25% discount and made sure I got everything I needed. I can't recommend this highly enough.

Much brighter sound than the Rogue that I have had tumbling around with me for years. Problem is, this banjo might need to be respected a bit more than the Rogue, which just rolled with the punches. I might not want to throw it in the back seat loaded with travel gear quite so cavalierly as I have been known to do, but I'll probably get over it sooner or later.

I think that is a great banjo and lots of fun. I was surprised that it was set up and ready to go. I have bought gibson banjos and friends that have bought deering banjos in the 5,000 range that had not been setup as nice. It is more then a toy. It is playable. I have used it in shows.

The Goldtone CC-100 has the features I was looking for: Light weight, double coordinator rods, Ample volume, good straightline tailpiece, 5th peg geared tuner, and nice tone. The setup was perfect. My only complaint is that the 3rd string tuner slips. I noticed it had a washer added to it. Put on better quality tuners and it would be great. I have 6 banjos. The cheapest with double coordinator rods was twice as much. They make it very easy to change the action. The head tension was set right.

Best old time banjo out there for the buck. Very nice old time sound,super good inlay on the neck. Just a pleasure to play.
