My kids wanted an ocarina so they could play the songs from Zelda. I had no trouble at all finding sheet music, chords, and instructional videos on Google and YouTube. The only down side is the appearance; like some unfinished plastic component. The craftsmanship is sturdy and it looks like it will last for some time, but more colors or decals would be an improvement.

My girlfriend really wanted an ocarina so while I was making a big order from Musician's Friend I figured this thing was SO cheap that I couldn't go wrong.

Well, I went wrong. As most of the other reviewers have stated this is a piece of junk. It's poorly crafted, cheap quality, and the shoddily molded halves don't join correctly so it's extremely difficult to play it and have it make sound.

If you take your fingers, the ones you should be using to play this ocarina, and use them to seal the many molding imperfections across the seam, it actually doesn't sound that bad. The downside of this technique is that you can't actually play it because your fingers are occupied.

It's really more novel or decorative than anything because it doesn't actually function out of the box as an ocarina.

I guess I'm going to have to try to seal up the seams so it cam maybe be played.

Comments about Grover-Trophy C Alto Ocarina:

This red plastic ocarina was bought to be a display item in a collection of related musical toys and gadgets. It was not removed from its packaging and displays very nicely on its original unopened backing card with clear plastic bubble dome. It is the traditional red color that comes to mind when one ever thinks of ocarina. I am pleased with it for the purpose it was bought for. Thank you.

Comments about Grover-Trophy C Alto Ocarina:

Even for a starter item, this "ocarina" is actually pretty bad. Inconsistent tones and often flat. If you're trying to get something to start out... don't bother with this one. I am by no means an expert when it comes to ocarinas but I have played enough to get an idea of something relatively usable.

              This is not.
