OVERVIEW

A pack of 3 well-known, precisely crafted, harps with pearwood combs and amazing tone in G, A, and C.

The 1896 Marine Band Harmonica Pro Pack contains 3 of Hohner's professional-level Marine Band harmonicas in a package that saves you some cash while offering you harmonicas in the most popular keys of G, A, and C.

Played by world-famous harmonica players like John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen, Little Walter, and Paul Butterfield, the Marine Band is a number-one choice among top professionals and one of the most recognizable models all over the world. It's known for its full tone, wood comb, and its patented cover plates. This is the harmonica that was there when harmonica blues was born. The Marine Band harp is a result of over 100 years of tradition and German craftsmanship.

This 1896 Marine Band Pro harmonica pack comes in sealed "blister packaging" that has several advantages. As the harmonicas are sealed, they are guaranteed to have never been played or tampered with. Additionally, there is useful product information on the package card, for example, a key chart telling players which key of harmonica to use for certain songs if they wish to play in crossharp or 2nd position, which is the default position for blues and rock 'n' roll. Lastly, blister packaging can include added items, such as small booklets on the history of the harmonica, or a mini catalog showing other Hohner harmonicas, accessories, and merchandise.

About Hohner:
Hohner is a family company founded in 1857 in Trossingen, Germany, by Matthias Hohner. Handmade quality and close attention to detail have set Hohner apart from the beginning. A top leading brand in harmonicas, Hohner harps are distributed worldwide. Hohner harmonicas are played on the street by buskers, in intimate nightclubs, on festival stages, and even in Carnegie Hall. Despite a diverse harmonica line used in music from country to classical genres, the most famous Hohner harmonicas are their simple, 10-hole diatonics used frequently by blues, rock, country, and folk musicians.

The C and G are great. The A sounds leaky and not as loud.

Comments about Hohner 1896 Marine Band Harmonica Pro Pack:

Right out of the box, the C and G harps were great - rich tone, airtight, and loud. The A was the weakest of the 3 (and unfortunately, the one I'd use most). It was airy and weak, and I certainly couldn't get the same results from it that I could from the other 2 or my Special 20 or Suzuki. I'm not giving up on it yet and hoping I don't have to take it apart.

Comments about Hohner 1896 Marine Band Harmonica Pro Pack:

I first used Marine Band harmonicas and a holder while still in high school back in the '60's. This site and this dealer provided me with the tools in a prompt manner that I need to dust off the music in my head.
