It has 2 rows of holes tuned exactly one octave apart. When both rows are played at the same time the effect is of 2 harmonicas playing simultaneously. This enables a single player to achieve a stronger, full-bodied sound not possible with a standard diatonic. Its curved body fits perfectly between your hands. Features moisture-proof synthetic combs, gold anodized covers, and 20 double holes.

Comments about Hohner 2504/40 Comet Harmonica:

I have tried, but I can't get myself to like this harmonica. I find the banana shape awkward, and can't get used to the blow only/draw only hole spacing. The covers are cheap and flimsy, and the cover support tabs are easily bent. The reed plates are nailed to the comb, screws would be easier for disassembly. My particular harp is not very accurately tuned. I really thought that I was going to like it, and I have tried. Truth is, I prefer tremolo harps to octaves. I have a few Auto Valve octave harps that I favor over the Comet. I know that they are an unfair comparison, being a different design, but the Comet will continue to rest in the harmonica bull-pen.

Comments about Hohner 2504/40 Comet Harmonica:

An octave harmonica is a necessity to anybody serious about their harmonicas, and Hohner knows how to do it! The Comet is a beautiful model. However, this harp is not for lightweights! It's a bit more difficult to play than any diatonic, chromatic, or tremolo, but you should be able to master it in time.
