Comments about Hohner 54/64 Echo Harmonica:

This is a great little harmonica (big compared to a 10-hole diatonic). It fits nicely into a coat pocket. But I think that the next bigger size has an advantage in that it offers three full octaves. You will find yourself two notes short on either end with this one. Hohner has done a fine job with accurately tuning this model. Of course, being a tremolo harmonica, the top and bottom holes are purposely tuned slightly off from each other, to give a vibrato effect. If you're not used to playing one, it's a whole lot different than a blues harp. It lends itself well for ballads, ethnic music, folk music, and country. It has a pleasing tone, and audiences seem to love it. The overall quality is excellent, and as the cover proudly displays, is made with bell metal reeds. It is, however, put together with nails. I would be very reluctant to attempt disassembly for any reason. The box is a beautiful piece of artwork, but not very functional if you ever want to take your harmonica anywhere. It serves well for storage or display, but not transportation or serious use. One big issue that I have with this harmonica design is that it will not stay in a neck rack. You need two hands to play it. Its saving grace is its tone! The sound is haunting, and it adds so much to certain types of music. One other point, this harmonica plays in the key of "C" on one side, and the key of "G" on the other. Just flip it over!

Comments about Hohner 54/64 Echo Harmonica:

This harmonica has been passed down from my late granfather, who carried through Vietnam. Through that and 40+ years later it still sounds great. It is real easy to play and has such a rich tone. Besides the sentimental value, it truly is an excellent harp and I'm gonna take good care of it forever.

Hohner 54/64 Double-Sided Echo Harmonica

By Doc.

Comments about Hohner 54/64 Echo Harmonica:

The 54/64 Echo is a wonderful sounding harp. I am so struck with how easy, and fun it is to play. I'm kicking myself now for not spending the extra money and getting the 55/80. I've been playing diatonics for about three months now, and wanted to break out into a new area. With practice I kept finding that I wanted more, and more vibrato. The duel reeds on the Echo were exactly what I was searching for. The sound is so relaxing, and lonesome that you will want to play all of the songs you learned on your old diotonic over again on this harp. The problems I found were that I seem to have a difficult time playing the highest keys, and that this harp was pretty exspensive compaired to the SP-20's I started out on.

Comments about Hohner 54/64 Echo Harmonica:

I've had one for several months and really enjoy the vabrato effect, and the C-G double keying is great. Just flip it to change keys.
