OVERVIEW

Three raging-loud, comfortable harps in three popular keys for both beginners and seasoned veterans.

The 590 Big River Harp Pro Pack contains three of Hohner's professional-level Big River harmonicas in a package that saves you some cash while offering you harmonicas in the most popular keys of G, C, and A.

The 590 Big River harmonica is an attractive and robust harp model that's a fine instrument for beginners, with solid volume and easy playability. It's also the choice of seasoned veterans and professionals, who recognize its strong, dependable performance and German quality at an affordable price. The Hohner Big River can be called one of the best-valued harmonicas on the market. It has the quality and life expectancy of Hohner's Special 20 and Marine Band harmonicas, yet it's more affordable, plus it has the advantage of replaceable reed plates, which is a money-saving alternative to throwing away out-of-tune harmonicas.

Whether you're playing down-home melodies on your back porch or fronting a blues band, the 590 Big River harmonica will get the job done. This reliable workhorse offers Hohner's highest standard of German quality. Featuring a 10-hole, airtight, plastic body for increased volume, an open-ended cover for sound projection, and contoured covers that are comfortable to hold, this Hohner harmonica really delivers the sound you seek.

In addition, the 590 Big River Harps comes in sealed, "blister packaging" which has several advantages. As the harmonicas are sealed, they are guaranteed to have never been played or tampered with. Additionally, Hohner includes useful product information on the package card, for example, a key chart telling players which key of harmonica to use for certain songs if they wish to play in crossharp or 2nd position, which is the default position for blues and rock 'n' roll. Lastly, blister packaging can include added items, such as small booklets on the history of the harmonica, or a mini catalog showing other Hohner harmonicas, accessories, and merchandise.

About MS-Series Hohner harmonicas:
The acronym 'MS' stands for Modular System, an integrated concept of Hohner's harmonica designs. MS-series harmonicas benefit from innovations that improve their playing characteristics and also significantly facilitate maintenance and handling. All MS-series parts (combs, reed plates, and covers) can be combined individually. Simple screw connections allow for easy assembly. This benefit offers players the possibility to adjust the instruments to their individual requirements. For example, some players prefer the body of one harmonica and the cover plates of another, and so a "custom hybrid" is possible for the discerning player. Easy-to-install replacement reeds are available (see item: RP565 MS Replacement Reed Plates).

About Hohner:
Hohner is a family company founded in 1857 in Trossingen, Germany by Matthias Hohner. Hand-made quality and close attention to detail has set Hohner apart from the beginning. A top leading brand in harmonicas, Hohner harps are distributed worldwide. Hohner harmonicas are played on the street by buskers, in intimate nightclubs, on festival stages, and even in Carnegie Hall. Despite a diverse harmonica line used in music from country to classical genres, the most famous Hohner harmonicas are their simple, 10-hole diatonics used frequently by blues, rock, country, and folk musicians.

Comments about Hohner 590 Big River Harp Pro Pack - MS-Series Harmonicas:

Big Rivers are a good starter harp for a beginner and they play well for experienced guys too. Compared to a Special 20, it isnt nearly as air tight. that is when you play it, some of your breath leaks out and the note isnt as crisp as a more expensive harp. You can feel the air leakage out the side as you play. Big Rivers cost about 2/3 of a Special 20 or Golden Melody, and that's the reason.
The nice thing about the Big River, though, is that is has really bright tone. A lot of professional harp players choose the BR for its great sound. It is no doubt an excellent harp. Not as smoothe as Special 20 or a good Lee Oskar, and certainly inferior to a Suzuki Manji, but still a harp to have on hand for practice purposes. I find that the reeds last pretty long, longer than other Hohners, and that it sounds great.
This is a fine harp if you want a high quality instrument at the lower price.
well built and durable..more durable than special 20, marine Band or Golden Melody; doesnt hold up as well as a Blues Harp, though
great harp for the money

Comments about Hohner 590 Big River Harp Pro Pack - MS-Series Harmonicas:

Bought this as a gift for a friend. They wanted to learn harmonica, so I got them a three pack to get started. Not the top of the line, but reasonable quality, and not a toy they would outgrow.

Comments about Hohner 590 Big River Harp Pro Pack - MS-Series Harmonicas:

I have played harp for years, playing blues, bluegrass, punk, and even death metal. I started on lee Oskars and switched to special 20's a few years ago...last year I got my hands on one of these Big River tuckers and they have a better sound than the special 20's I dunno what this air leak theory is but they hold up far better than any harp I have ever played! Scoop these horns up friends!

Comments about Hohner 590 Big River Harp Pro Pack - MS-Series Harmonicas:

Great harps for the money. I don't play harmonica very often, but wanted a descent set of harps when the need arises. I'd prefer the Special 20 over the Big River, but for occasional use these are perfect and a lot more economical.
