I read quite a few of the negative reviews about this set here, but for the very affordable price I figured I'd take a chance anyway.

The case is beautiful, hard shell covered by what appears to be some sort of corduroy, velvet lining... Probably worth the price alone. The seven harmonicas are clearly marked in large letters with their individual keys, which really helps a beginner on the harmonica like me. The case also holds them very securely.

Just one problem... As I've read in some of the reviews here, one harmonica had three dead low notes (A-key). I emailed Hohner, they just asked to send back proof of purchase, and they're sending me a replacement free of charge. They didn't even ask me to return the defective one. Wow, great customer service.

Anyway, these are working great for me in my home studio, where I can tweak audio as necessary. But, I haven't had to do that yet, as their musical keys seem to be right on the money.

I probably wouldn't use them to perform live, but for my studio purposes with a bit of reverb and delay this is a great set. Would definitely buy again.

Comments about Hohner Blues Band 7-Piece Harmonica Set 1501:

meh.
These harps will make noise, but it's a crap shoot about which holes work.

I purchased this set afterwards, and it's so much nicer. Better than night and day, but I wish it had 7 harps like the set1501.

If you need quality, then get the special 20 set.
The case is nice.

Comments about Hohner Blues Band 7-Piece Harmonica Set 1501:

After reading a few reviews from 'players' that weren't too bad, I thought I'd try these but I also bought a 'real' one to compare. I received the package - nice zipped carry box - I pulled out the same key as the 'real' one and blew it! OMG! What a piece of CRAP! And I'm Not Kidding - I couldn't believe it! I don't know what these other 'players' got but - now I only tried one But - I am basically throwing these away!!! If I give them to a kid to blow they'll probably put them down and never play again because that's how bad they don't preform. Now I took out the 'real' harp and OMG - I Can Play! The Hohner Blues Band Seven-Piece Set are made in China - what Crap! The 'real' one -Special 20 is made in Germany - NO Comparison - NO COMPARISON! Save your money and buy a Real harp - I have Lee Oskar's and Special 20. You need to spend your money on the real thing and not be invalidated by some cheap piece of Dog Squeeze! Now, I'm not normally so pissy but the harp is really like some of my 20 year old Marine Bands that are antiques never to be played again. I won't go on. SAVE A FEW BUCKS BUY A REAL ONE AND PLAY!

Comments about Hohner Blues Band 7-Piece Harmonica Set 1501:

I thought I would buy these harmonicas for when one of my good one's messed up. I could use one of these bluesband harps till I got another one. I read a few reviews on them and some people made em sound ok. Well all I can say if them people found these harmonicas "ok" then they CANNOT know anything about music. I got these harps and all seven of them were defective!! I could not believe it, I knew I shouldn't expect much but come on. On everyone of them starting at the 6th hole to the 8th hole you CANNOT draw on them, and they call them a "blues harp"?
on top of that they have NO volume what so ever. It says on the box,"this is not a toy, this is a musicical instrument" what a joke. I wanted my money back because they did not work and I seen how cheap they were so I contacted the Hohner business and they told me all they would do is replace them with one's that work. I told them I wanted my money back and they told me NO. I was treated like a number, not a person at all. seem like to me when you buy something and it doesn't work you should get the option to return it. there customer service was terrible!!!! I'm chosing to take a loss and not send them back because I don't want to get more junk that won't work. It would be an ongoing process to even get some that would work. Even if you did get some that worked they are so quiet you could never be heard over another insrtument. I'm going to give them to my 3 year old daughter for x-mas, maybe she could get some use out of them. Did i mention they make your mouth taste like cheap plastic. I would never
recommend these to ANYONE, SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!!

Comments about Hohner Blues Band 7-Piece Harmonica Set 1501:

ok..I'm not the greatest harp player , but these harps really blow , and not in a good way. They don't work. I needed the Bb flat for 30 seconds in "Soul Man" and the very hole I needed did not produce a sound. Same with most of the other ones also. Plus the sound is cheesy. It is not easy to bend notes. Don't waste your money , cough up the bucks and get a Blues Harp with wooden reeds. Stay away from plastic

Comments about Hohner Blues Band 7-Piece Harmonica Set 1501:

Honestly I thought that this would be garbage. Seven harmonicas for less then what I would usually pay for just one. Buy em. You wont be dissapointed at all. There will be some flaws like on mine the G is out of tune when chords are played on it. BIG DEAL. That means there are still 6 harmonicas in full working condition that sound pretty good. You can bend notes even. You will not be disapointed. My G harm may have been a lemon so you might get all working harmonicas and the case they come in is solid too. Almost forgot about that haha. This is a great deal.

    Nice to have 7 harmonica's
These maybe good for campfire playing although not for learning or single note playing, you never know if a note is going to work. They play just as they are $5 harmonicas.\
better to take these to the beach than a $40 harmonica

Go a step up and consider the Big River or even a Folkmaster so you have something you can learn with and really play. The case is nice but is not cut big enough to hold a Big River or Delta Frost however the Folkmaster will fit fine. If you are looking just for the inexpensive case, buy a Piedmont Blues set for less money and the larger harmonicas will fit in it and you will have some toys for the grandkids (for when you send them home).

Comments about Hohner Blues Band 7-Piece Harmonica Set 1501:

Yeah, they're not the best harps in the world. There may be an issue with one or more harps in the pack, but all of mine played true right out of the box. They're a little quiet, but have spot-on tuning, and they play and bend with little effort. The case alone is woth the money. It's made of wood with metal hinges, and cowered in rip-stop nylon. Very tough. It's graet to have at a jam session when you don't know what key the next song is going to be in. I go to alot of music festivals, so I may be playing outside in the dark after I've had a few. If I lose one of these, I'm not out that much cash, so I'm even more happy with the set. I saw a lot of bad reviews, but trust me, It's more than worth the price.

the hohner blues band set is great, the thing im most impressed with is the tuning all the harmonicas in my set were in tune, with no dead notes to speak of, they all bend pretty easly and do have very good tone, my set did not come with the fancy grey case shown mine came with a black case and no hohner logo, although these are not pro quality they are very good, i have played out with them with no problems at all, very consistant, good inexpensive harmonicas, i would for sure recomend these to anyone looking for a very good inexpensive harmonica, i do own a marine band and its nice but the reed plates stick out past the comb and it is very uncomfortable to play and i also own a blues bender that is nice but not as nice as twice the price of the blues band, go for the blues band, these are a great deal!!!

Comments about Hohner Blues Band 7-Piece Harmonica Set 1501:

Ordered this out of curiosity and wanting the case to keep my good harps in.

Played all seven of them and they play fine. The holes are 1/2 mm smaller than the ones on the Special 20's and Marine bands, but not really an issue.

The are a bit "airy." Where the problem is I can't say. Usually it's air leaking around a bad fit between the covers and the case, but that does not seem to be the issue here as that fit seems good.

I only tried bending on the "C" harp and it bent with no problem.

Checked them against my guitar tuner (don't trust my ears) and they are all pretty close to right on. None of them are off by more than a smidgen.

I like the plastic comb ala Special 20's. Very easy on the lips and tongue and no swelling like the wood on Marine Bands.

They are not the equal of Marine Bands or Special 20's, but for the tremendous difference in price one shouldn't expect them to be.

All in all decent harps and great for the price. Especially since you get the nice case with them.

I think I'll be getting a little use out of these. Especially at parties. Should be good adult beverage instruments.

Comments about Hohner Blues Band 7-Piece Harmonica Set 1501:

I purchased this set as a way to affordably jump into using different harmonica keys. I own a Special 20 C and a Big River Harp G. I wanted to try out some other keys but could not afford the Special 20 set. This set was better than expected. They are halfway decent and well worth the cost. They are a bit "airy" and bending notes is tougher than on a nicer harp but for the cost, you really can't complain. I plan on replacing them one by one with Special 20s. Now I know which keys are most important to me.

I have played one of these harps many years back and it played better than I expected at the price I paid for it... My first harp was a 14 hole Hohner that I bought for $7.25 at a retail music store so I am difficult to please and older than dirt as well... Since I has placing an order for some new harps to use when sitting in with a working blues band I decided to order this set for my granddaughter that just turned 2years old... I have always thought that if someone had given me some decent harps to learn to play when I was very young I wouldn't have been out and about playing gigs at a much younger age... Besides that, I hate when any little kid wants to slobber and blow the reeds out of my good harps... I've given away a lot of starter harps to kids over the years so maybe one of them may still playing and developing an appreciation for music of some genre.

I bought these to learn on. Unfortunately, two of these have broken. The G and the Bb. I found an article online that describe the failure as a broken reed. It said harmonica reeds should last from 6mo to a year. Both of these failed within two days of use. I have played the A for two weeks without a problem. I recommend these to beginners who want to see if they can play before a bigger investment, but thats it.

I am a professional harmonica instructor. I bought this set of harmonicas to see if they might be an option for my students to purchase and have multiple harmonica keys.

I've been performing harmonica professionally on stage for 35 years. Even with all of that experience and experience in tweaking and adjusting harmonicas for better play. I could never get these harmonicas even playable for beginner level.

Anybody interested in learning harmonica? Don't waste your time or money on these harmonicas. They are so impossible to play that you will get totally turned off to learning the harmonica. Harmonica players they are a total waste of money. They leak horribly and the reeds are so stiff and poorly constructed you'll feel like you are playing a harmonica you already have blown out.

I could not believe Hohner would even put their name on these harmonicas. They are not even good enough for basic simple straight harp playing.

I've played all the Hohners, Seydel, etc. and I always come back to the Lee Oskars. You can't beat them. In 35 years of performing professionally. I've never had a reed break off and go flying in my mouth. Until I played Seydel Harmonicas. It happened twice and could be a deadly scenario if it made it down your windpipe.

If you are someone with an interest in learning Harmonica. Spend the money for a good harmonica, Lee Oskar or a plastic comb Hohner like Special 20, or Big River. You won't regret it. Once I move my new harmonica students over to a Lee Oskar, from whatever cheap harmonica they walk in with. Their progress increases rapidly.

Had to call back Hohner directly. After a couple of calls they said they would send replacements for the harmonicas that didn't work. KUDOS, however to Musicians Friend for their customer service and return policy!!

The company was easy to deal with. They were friendly, helpful and shipping was fair.
However, one harmonica was faulty and had to contact Horner for replacement. They gave me the instructions and waiting for new or repaired harmonica. Be sure you check them upon receipt as Horner has a time limit from purchase and receipt of purchase is also required.
