Comments about Ibanez M510 A-Style Mandolin:
I wanted to learn mandolin and at this price point I was excited to jump in without breaking the bank, I was a little weary about it being too cheap but i got it anyways. I had it set up by a luither who put the bridge in the correct place and put some of the D'addario j75 strings on it. The Mando sounds really nice, the strings are nice and mellow but still have a bit of bite without being too shrill. It is really light, it is holding its tuning well and looks amazing. Its a no brainer if your intrested in this Mando just to get it, it has a cheap price tag and Im really impressed by Ibanez's quality entry level instruments.

Comments about Ibanez M510 A-Style Mandolin:
I am a long time guitarist who bought this mandolin as a Christmas present for my 8 year old daughter. When the instrument came, the finish was nice, and the neck, fretboard and frets were all in good playing condition. The violin finish was darker than the pictures showed--very dark brown, almost black--but is still nice looking.
The action needed to be lowered at the bridge and the intonation needed to be set, but this was not difficult to do. The only drawback is that the nut was not filed properly, so most of the strings actually were sitting on top of the grooves, making the action very high toward the nut and very difficult to play (like driving a bus). This is the kind of thing that you come to expect when looking for instruments in this price range. Fortunately, we have the tools to file the nut and after doing so, the mandolin now plays very nicely and produces good tones.
Overall, it is a great value for the money. If you can't do the setup yourself, I would highly recommend paying the 50 bones, or thereabouts, for a professional setup. After a nice setup, it plays and sounds much better than any of the mandolins in its price range and, in my opinion, better than many that I have seen and played in the 500-600 greenback range.
A very excellent beginner mandolin.

Comments about Ibanez M510 A-Style Mandolin:
I got the Vintage Sunburst as a gift from my boyfriend. (I did pick it out myself). I LOVE the finish on it, it looks great! It sounds great! I am very pleased with it. I did have a friend set it up for me, new strings helped, I have several jam sessions I attend on a regular basis, and this mandolin will most likely be the one I take most often. I also have an f-style, and an electric Ovation. The Ibanez is the easiest to play of all three! Like I said before, I LOVE this mandolin. Great value for the money!

Comments about Ibanez M510 A-Style Mandolin:
Bought this for my wife for our anniversary. She has expressed interest in playing a mandolin like her Paternal grandmother used to. The finish on the mandolin is the open pore vintage finish,it is beautiful. Matte overall, not too shiny, nice muted burst tones. I just got around to tuning it up yesterday, seems to stay in tune well, only ran it up the fretboard a few times. She'll have alot of fun with this one, and the price point was great for a beginner. The packaging was top notch. shipped in its box, in a box, in a bigger box with lots of packing around the inner boxes.

Comments about Ibanez M510 A-Style Mandolin:
I am new to the mandolin game. I have moved away from my hard rock roots and have moved in to a more rootsy, Americana direction. My instrument choices lately reflect this.
I do have a taste for nicer stuff (having played guitar for 30 years, I have a coupla nice instruments). However, new to an instrument, I am not apt to just go full on in to the top of the line. Even though I did this with guitar, I am buying a few new instruments lately to round out my rootsy collection.
That said, I did want a mandolin since that's very much within the sounds in my brain.
Enough of the story, I needed a good and reasonably priced mandolin. I played a number of them. I played a few Kentucky's, a Fender and even a Rogue. All played well enough. I liked the Ibanez best. Just had that 'sweet spot' sound I wanted to hear.
I purchased the Violin Burst. Very nice looking. Very sharp. Looks so nice that my wife decided that instead of hanging it in the music room, she wanted it in the living room as a decoration...when I'm not using it........
As a guitar player, fretting a mandolin is not a challenge so I am hard put to explain how well it plays. It is very comfortable to play. I don't feel like I am being challenged by the action and can get decent note articulation. I guess the best way to say it is that I don't feel like the instrument is resisting me and I am not thinking about the instrument but about what I am playing (read: learning...).
I'd mentioned the sound and this does give me the mandolin sound I desired. Perhaps someday I will throw down on an expensive Gibson but until then, I will probably be very happy with this.
I enjoy playing it.

Comments about Ibanez M510 A-Style Mandolin:
I love this lil mandolin. Sounds great, plays clean, looks expensive (violin finish). It was almost ready straight out of the box. It had a small piece of packing under the bridge, that prevented scratching, that needed to be removed. A lowering of the bridge to set the string height (which was extremely easy with the adjustable bridge. positioned the bridge and tuned her up. GREAT mandolin for the money...Ill be playing it for years.
