The Kala Banjo Ukulele is recognized for its distinctive tone and ability to project sound in solo and ensemble settings.
The banjo ukulele was originally designed by Alvin Keech in 1917 and was popularized by musicians such as George Formby and Roy Smeck. George Harrison favored the instrument in later years and recorded his song "Any Road" on banjo uke.

Comments about Kala Banjo Concert Ukulele:
Just got this banjolele. It is a lot heavier than any of my ukuleles, but that was expected. It has a nice sound (a little loud) that is definitely more banjo than uke, but the size is more uke than banjo. Exactly as expected. I really like the concert size.
One thing to note about the description - the Kala concert banjo ukulele (8 inch head), is described as an open back design. That is not the case. It has a closed back, but the plate can be removed to make it an open back. The 6 inch Soprano is an open back.
Overall seems like a fun instrument to add to my ukulele collection, which I just started.
