Great
My wife and I recently became exposed to the Ukulele on a cruise where free Ukulele lessons were given. We had so much fun with the little instrument, after we returned home we decided to purchase a couple and continue our lessons online. Neither of us play any musical instruments so deciding what amount to spend on one was our first decision. We set a limit of $50 and proceeded to read all we could on the internet about the different inexpensive brands. I also decided I wanted a little larger uke, so I chose the tenor while she got the concert size. These Kohala KO-T Tenor and KO-C Concert Ukuleles are awesome for the price. Although I went over budget for the tenor ($59) altogether we were only $8 over because the Concert was only $49. We have been playing with them for almost 2 weeks and could not be happier. The fit and finish is very nice, the hardware seems first rate, the action is well positioned, and the sound is great. They have required tuning each time we play them but it is no problem. I only know this because I bought a Snark Ukulele Tuner, which is much more accurate than my ear, and it is quite simple to tweak them up before playing. They then seem to hold tune throughout our practice. We are both very happy with our purchase and would recommend these ukes to anyone.

It's ok for beginners but if you know about ukes, you'd be disappointed
I am a Musiciansfriend loyal costumer, I have never been dissatisfied with any products I've ordered. This would be the first disappointment though, the uke I received in the mail should have been sold as a blem or used item, it's got scuff marks all over the place and the fretboard finish is horrible, it looks as though the glue is coming a loose and does not stay in tune at all. I have to tune this thing for every song. I don't mind too much since I'm just learning but I plan to get something better in the future.
The quality doesn't meet the value

Comments about Kohala KO-T Kine'O Tenor Ukulele:

I retired two years ago and just now decided that I would like to learn to play the ukulele. A musician friend told me about Musician's Friend so I bought a concert uke a few weeks ago and my 14 year old granddaughter immediately latched on to it and loves it. She is learning to chord very quickly. So, I bought another concert uke for myself. I have some pain and stiffness in my hands so learning to play will take me quite a long time. I thought the tenor uke might be a little easier on my chording hand so I bought this one. I did not know that the neck was the same width as the concert uke, so playing it is the same. I like the deeper tone of the tenor uke though and my granddaughter likes playing it also. It will be great if I can overcome the difficulty of using old stiff chording fingers!

Wish the stain finish was a little more natural wood and not so dark. Finish didn't match the picture. Other than that it's a good uke.

Comments about Kohala KO-T Kine'O Tenor Ukulele:

All in all, this is a good entry level ukulele well worth the money spent....sounds good and plays easily...the geared tuners work great to avoid tuning slippage (once the strings were initially stretched it has maintained tuning with minimal adjustment)....had to file down a couple sharp fret edges...and there is a paint finishing blemish above the soundhole/fretboard area on the face.

Comments about Kohala KO-T Kine'O Tenor Ukulele:

For the price this ukulele isn't too bad. The strings are set way to high, this is because the saddle does need some work. You can clearly see some imperfections. The sound is clear and defining. Put some upgraded strings on it and you will not be disappointed.

Not a bad ukulele if you're a beginner

          By UkeKookToo

Comments about Kohala KO-T Kine'O Tenor Ukulele:

The Kohala KO-T Kine'O Tenor Ukulele is very basic, though the geared tuners are a plus. On the unit I purchased the wood finishing was not especially good - some rough spots on the body needed smoothing to prevent clothing snags. The color finish wasn't really "natural", but a reddish-burgundy stained finish. Looking into the sound hole at the unfinished wood, I wish the true natural color (unstained) would have been preserved. As far as playability and sound - good. For the price, I feel that it was a fair value and good for a beginner who prefers a larger size (larger fretboard and fuller sound).

          It's a Steal!

Comments about Kohala KO-T Kine'O Tenor Ukulele:

It has a darker tenor sound that records beautifully. I am a smaller female and was nervous the tenor would feel too big but I am very comfortable with it's size. My only complaint is that it did not come with a gig bag. This is a fantastic little instrument for someone who wants to play but doesn't want to sound like they're on a budget.
I read that I might need to replace the strings so I switched out the originals for Aquilas. I'm not sure that was entirely necessary, the sound was rich and resonant anyway. Of course the tuning was difficult on the first day but once you're strings stretch (should take just a couple days) the geared tuning makes it fantastically accurate. I make tiny adjustments in the morning and it holds all day.
I wasn't expecting much for less than $100 but I was very pleasantly surprised. My ukulele is blemish free and just as beautiful as the photo. I didn't want something shiny, the satin natural finish is perfect. It looks expensive.
          It's a steal.
