Overall, it is an exceptional instrument. I would buy another anyday and it is worth every penny of it, and I would certainly pay more for it.
The tuners are fantastic, the nut is great. Its perfect. The reason I give it a nine is because the knot on the first string was too small but that is easy to fix.
It is an exceptional instrument quality wise.
The value is just incredible!

I picked this uke up at Guitar Center and fell in love with it at first. Other than some finish issues, this uke was ready to play right out of the box. However, roughly a month after purchasing it, the bridge popped off out of nowhere. I've sanded, glued and clamped the bridge back on several times, but the wood is just too weak to hold it. So, while this uke is seemingly a good value, avoid it and invest in something more reliable like a Lanikai.

WOW!!

Comments about Mitchell MU70 12-Fret Concert Ukulele:

I got this uke for my trip to Hawaii. I got this when it was only $100 and it was totally worth every cent, I don't know if it's worth 200, but it has a great tone and the only issue i've had with it is the tuners are a little funky, but that may just be mine. I LOVE this uke and it's great for beginners and pros alike.

Comments about Mitchell MU70 12-Fret Concert Ukulele:

My wife and I got ukuleles the same day at GC. She got a Luna Tattoo and I picked up the Mitchell (primarily because it was most like a guitar in finish and construction). It's fun to play, sounds good and has good intonation. The only drawback is that the headstock interferes with my poor form on chords such as the G7.
Visually, it's an incredibly nice instrument for the price. It has a brighter sound than the Luna and significantly more sustain. Overall, I'd say it is an incredible value.

Still Going after 2 years

By Aaron the Uke Slinger

Comments about Mitchell MU70 12-Fret Concert Ukulele:

I've had this uke for close to 2 years now and my opinion is for the money this is a great starter to get you hooked on the uke. The tuning machine on my C string is a little loose however it still maintains it's tune rather well. If you use some quality strings such as Martin or Aquila it will sound great. The only downside is that in a crowded room even in front of a good mic/PA system it will get drown out. I've played this thing nearly every day in the last couple of years and been out playing open mic nights/shows and other musicians love the thing. Mine has proven quite durable and performs just as well as it did out of the box but sounding better because of the Martin strings.I know reviews before mine have stated about falling apart after a little while but I can say that's not the case and for newbie players I feel that this should be your starting model. Once you get into this one then shoot for a uke from one of the more reputable uke or guitar makers out there that do cost some prettier pennies.

Nice Uke for the $

Comments about Mitchell MU70 12-Fret Concert Ukulele:

I bought one of these at the President's Day sale when they were severely discounted to the point that I just couldn't say no (that is to say I didn't pay anywhere near $99 for it). I've been very pleased with it thus far. I've played other people's ukes before of more recognizable names and this one so far doesn't disappoint me. It seems solidly built, looks great, and the couple of recordings I've used it on it sounds great. If you're a ukelele player, you'll probably want to spend more on something else, but as a multi-instrumentalist (I play all the instruments on my own albums, lead guitar for others) it is a great-sounding little uke to have around in the studio. I did purchase a higher-quality set of strings with it to switch when the originals run out, but the originals aren't as awful as other reviewers have said. They're not great, but they're not awful. And most of the tuning issues have to do with the strings and not the tuners in my experience. Overall, great quality for the price.

Comments about Mitchell MU70 12-Fret Concert Ukulele:

This is an amazing ukulele. it sounds great after you restring it. It stays in tune just fine. my only issue is that my A string rattles whan I pluck it. Advice-- when stringing your ukulele put like 8 knots in the A-string because it popped out like 5 times when tuning it.

Comments about Mitchell MU70 12-Fret Concert Ukulele:

This is a fantastic instrument. I was interested in the Uke after playing guitar for many years, and this was a very easy transformation (after learning the fingering). It has a great, solid feel, and is comfortable to hold. The inlays, while I doubt are real, look wonderful. The neck and frets are smooth and the finish is great. The new strings are decent, but they require tuning before each playing...no big deal. This is a very fine Uke at a great price, and an easy transformation from guitar.
