Comments about Recording King RK-R36 Madison Select Mahogany Resonator Banjo:

Recording King is producing the best value out there. The RK36 is a professional quality banjo that will do anything you ask of it. Is it good to learn on? Of course it is. Most players know that any banjo needs to be properly setup. You cannot give this banjo a bad review due to setup. MF does not open the boxes and inspect. Most players can tweek it and jam right away. You will not regret you bought this. It sounds awesome. Plays well up & down the neck assuming the string action is set right. Components are all top notch. Remember this is a Mastertone style clone with a heavy tone ring. It is a heavy banjo, You'll need a quality strap as well. Do your research and you will find the RK36 is the real deal. For new players please understand, Nearly all musical instruments are Made in China. No big surprise. Recording King is no different but they have a tighter control on the QC end of there production.

Comments about Recording King RK-R36 Madison Select Mahogany Resonator Banjo:

I purchased a Recording King RK-36 from Musicians Friend as an open box item rated as Level 1, mint condition. When it arrived, the tail piece was badly bent. I adjusted the bridge position to correct the intonation, and replaced the dead strings. Yesterday, eight days after the 45 day window for returning it, the tail piece fractured. This could have been avoided had it undergone a proper inspection prior to being shipped. My fault for not returning it immediately, Musicians Friends fault for not inspecting it. I learned my lesson, this will be my last order with MF.

Comments about Recording King RK-R36 Madison Select Mahogany Resonator Banjo:

I've had this banjo for about a year now. It sounds better and better everyday. I was playing for a friend of mine who knows nothing about banjos. When I kicked it up, his jaw hit the floor. After I was done with the song, he just said "Oh, my. Do all banjos sound like that?"

My nearest neighbor's house is about 100 yards away. He says he can hear me playing on the porch, clear as a bell.

This HAS to be the best bargain in banjos anywhere!!
