OVERVIEW

A rugged and lightweight flute perfect for taking on backpacking and camping trips.

The Native America-Style Flute with Contemporary Native Fingerings is a 6 hole A/C Native American style flute with adjustable snap-on tone clip made from high impact plastic . The word style is included here because federal law requires that non-Native Americans involved in the manufacture of Native American products give some indication on the product that the product was not made by a native American. This is not a toy. The simplicity of design and lightweight materials should not fool you. This instrument beautifully produces the full range of pitches associated with the Native American Flute without some of the problems of wetting out and upkeep.

The flute is pitched so the lowest note sounds A (a 6th above middle C). The primary major scale is C major. It plays all the chromatic pitches from C (an octave above middle C) to C'. The inherent pentatonic features of the 6 hole Native American flute allow limitless creative options.

This is a lightweight (3.4 oz) ABS (purposefully not PVC for health and environmental reasons), yet rugged plastic instrument that holds up to the riggors of backpacking or camping. Its size, weight, and sturdiness makes it the perfect instrument to take with you on any trip. Fingering standard = contemporary native flute fingerings. The cedar red coloring is in the plastic and its use meets all FDA 181.32 paragraph 11 specifications (b) (1) (2) (3).

Comments about Sounds We Make Native America-Style Flute with Contemporary Native Fingerings:

I purchased this about 7 years ago and it has been a faithful and enjoyable instrument ever since. Made from PVC, this flute is hard to destroy and has been packed in many a gig bag or suit case alongside other musical equipment. The only part to watch out for is the sliding white piece that directs air over the soundhole of the flute.

This flute sounds genuinely warm and sensuous. It's tuned to Ab minor more or less, in the sense that it's easiest to play in Ab minor. You can manipulate the pitch very easily, which can lead to intonation difficulty but not for someone with a decent ear. Vibratos are very easy to pull off and you can bend notes if you are comfortable enough doing so.

For 25 this is an amazing value. Great for anyone from a kid interested in learning music to a professional musician. I like to take this on any nature trip I go on since it won't break and it sounds great. I've done a campfire serenade with it as well as recorded it within a heavily produced backdrop with synths, bass, and guitars. If you have stumbled across this item and are thinking about it, just put in the cart and let the enjoyment commence from one of the easiest playing and nicest sounding instruments under 100 that you are likely to find

Comments about Sounds We Make Native America-Style Flute with Contemporary Native Fingerings:

I wanted to try out the native american flute, but wasn't prepared to buy an expensive instrument at this time. This flute was a great alternative to the more expensive models.

Comments about Sounds We Make Native America-Style Flute with Contemporary Native Fingerings:

I was given one of these flutes by a real musician who had many wooden flutes, and it sounds almost exactly like the more expensive, wooden brands. Playing the flute quickly became my new hobby. When a camp I go to was making recordings for a website, I was asked to play for it even though I had never had even one lesson. The best thing about these flutes is that you can improvise-you don't have to learn any songs. Within an hour I had even figured out how to play an octave higher than the advertised range of the flute by regulating the air flowing through it. This is a wonderful and easy to play instrument and I think very highly of it.
