OVERVIEW

Stunning and articulate, all solid wood professional guitar.

The Alvarez MFA66CE Masterworks OM/Folk Acoustic-Electric Guitar is a professional-grade instrument. It features all solid woods and a high level of refinement from the top bracing to the body finish. Key appointments include the Alvarez SYS650 preamp, solid African mahogany for the body, abalone and mother-of-pearl inlays, real bone nut and saddle, and die-cast gold tuners with ebony buttons. This Masterworks folk guitar comes with a deluxe polyfoam case.

The Alvarez SYS650 designed by B-Band

Comments about Alvarez MFA66CE Masterworks OM/Folk Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Having loved my Alvarez Regent for ten years, and having really good luck with the Alvarez parlor, I bought the Masterworks Folk...and ended up sending it back. It's a beautiful guitar with lots of pluses, like great tuners and real ebony and wood binding instead of plastic, and if it had only had one problem I'd have kept it. But the minuses outweigh its beauty: 1st, the Alvarez website expressly promised there'd be an LR Bags preamp and tuner onboard, and there wasn't. Instead, there was something called a B-band. Never heard of it, which isn't a huge deal, but I was looking forward to owning a name brand thing and got something else. So that set the tone of the deal right from the start. 2nd, I am not a pro, but I do play on stage some, and one thing I hate is when the lights reflecting off a guitar blind an audience member. The new Alvarez guitars are "show blindness" just waiting to happen. The thing looked like it'd been dipped in plastic... but that's not all: all that glossy poly on the Artist I got was SOFT, so soft that merely playing it in a long sleeved buttonless cotton shirt scratched the finish. Within a week, the glassy sunburst was covered with micro scratches that showed appallingly in even low light. I am utilitarian at heart, not stuck on keeping things shiny and new, but I can't see this thing making it thru its first gig with me. 3rd, the case is a similar problem: it's too beautiful altogether. Beige fabric of some sort. I put the case in a big black trash bag to protect it from the ride in the back of my truck...Cases are for protecting the guitar (and with that finish, this guitar needs serious protection). But here I was protecting the case? Ridiculous. 4th: the most important thing about a guitar isn't looks, feel, or playability: it's sound. This thing has too much sustain (I never thought I'd write that about a guitar but there it is. Still ringing out Bminor when I've moved on to G. Ugh. Too bad!

Comments about Alvarez MFA66CE Masterworks OM/Folk Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

When this arrived, the pickup was not connected properly to the output jack. It was an easy fix, but one a customer should not have to make on a instrument right out of the box. If I hadn't been waiting on it for over a month, it would have gone right back in the box and on the next truck back.

It's a beautiful guitar and sounds great for what I'm doing with it (loop station jamming in my house).
