Comments about Dean Stealth Floyd Rose Flame Maple:

I'm normally a "round guitar" kind of guy - only own Stratocasters and Les Pauls, but I've been a Dimebag/Pantera fan since CFH, and I've wanted one of Dime's signature axes for some time now. The "Veterans Day" sale was enough to finally push me over the edge, so I went with the "Dime Slime" Stealth from Dean. Although I was unable to find hardly any reviews on this guitar, and have never actually played one, I decided to take a chance. So glad I did! This guitar arrived at my door securely stuffed in a tight-fitting hardshell case, and upon physical inspection, everything seemed to be perfect. The green/yellow Maple top is stunning against the black hardware - the guitar is just mean-looking - pictures do it no justice - you really need to see it in person. After letting the guitar acclimate for a few hours (it was cold in the delivery truck) I found the action to be nearly perfect height, the strings tuned to standard E, and almost no adjustments necessary. All electronics function great, and the thing plays like a dream! I love the big frets, and the pickups are super-aggressive and sound great through my Peavey XXX. The Floyd Rose 1000 stays in tune really well, though I don't really do any hardcore dive-bombing (yet). I bought this guitar because I wanted to learn more "metal" style chops, rhythm and soloing, and this is turning out to be the perfect vehicle. It's taken me a little while to get used to the pointy body style, (again, I'm normally a Strat player), but I'm really enjoying it. The V-shaped neck was a little fatter than I was expecting (hence the 4 out of 5 stars), but definitely not a deal-breaker. Comfortable to play sitting, as well as standing. I did hear that these guitars can be "neck-heavy" when standing - I didn't find this to be the case with mine - the headstock stays right up where it should be when I let go of the neck. Overall, this is a great guitar. I'm having a ball with it, and am very satisfied with the purchase.
