Bought the cherry burst LP-100 4+ years ago, and it was my first electric. The frets were rough, with some buzzing, and I never liked the tone with the stock Epi PUs. About a year ago I started some mods for both looks and tone. Got rid of the creme pick guard and swapped the creme accents for black. Swapped out the muddy stock PUs for a set of GFS Vintage 59s (very cheap and worth the investment) and it now sounds awesome. Swapped the LP-100 truss cover for a stylish Epiphone "E" cover, not because I'm hiding it being an LP-100 (will tell anyone who asks about it), but because I hot-rodded it. Had a tech do the work, along with a fret dressing, and it now feels as good as it sounds. If you buy this for a kid/beginner and invest a little, he or she could play this for years. Really a very decent guitar for the money and fun to mod/personalize.

The best thing about this guitar is the reputation of an lp. Despite the dot inlays on the neck, and the epiphone headstock, this guitar looks just as sweet as a classic paul. The price though, tells you clearly that it isn't.The mojor short comings on this guitar are it's pickups, and it's hardware. The pickups aren't great. The tone they produce is kind of thin without any effects on it. Playing this guitar clean is dissappointing, and no where near the sweetness of a gibson of any price range. This is easily fixed with the installation of gibson pickups ( 490r and 498t alnico like in the supreme lp model or '57 classics rec.) though that will set you back a bit.A much quicker and also highly beneficial fix would be to add new tuners. Grovers are industry standard and are also used on gibsons. The standard tuners on this guitar fall short of keeping intonation. On mine, the strings were out of tune just about as soon as I put it down. easy fix. Overall, this is a good guitar for the money, especially for a begginner who won't require more and may not notice the difference. And when the guitar's initial tone is outgrown, it's a much smaller amount of money to upgrade this guitar than it would be to buy a newer and better one.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul 100 Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar used a few years ago, my first electric guitar. For what I bought it for, it was a great guitar all around. It's got a pretty solid tone. I did experience a little fret buzz, but not enough to ruin the playability of the guitar. Overall a great guitar for a beginner or someone looking for an inexpensive guitar that still maintains quality fundamentals.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul 100 Electric Guitar:

I have had this guitar for almost four years. It's my "Go To" guitar off my multi guitar rack. Awesome guitar in that price range and likely a better value for instruments at higher price points.

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul 100 Electric Guitar:

First I'd like to say that I'm a newborn on the guitar scene so I don't know about "feel", "tone", "pickup" etc...
I bought the guitar because I've read that it's a great guitar for a beginner and I like the Les Paul. It's beautiful, was packaged very well, and arrived when the seller said it would. I love it and it's fun to play. If your considering a guitar I would recommend it.

This guitar is great for the buying price. I got it when it was around 250, It's seen its share of drops, and falls, and it has dings and scratches, but I wouldn't trade this guitar for just anything. The pickups are starting to go on me, and the pots need cleaning, and everything. That just happens sometimes.

My review is coming from my wife who I bought this for, she has been playing for many years, did not want to dish out on a Gibson Les Paul and this guitar is simply brilliant as a step into the Les Paul sound and feel.

This guitar has a rich tone, it sounds wonderful, and it has very much sustain (one note reaches seven seconds), dont judge a guitar by it's price, the sound can make you amazed. Very affordable price, you won't be disappointed!

Comments about Epiphone Les Paul 100 Electric Guitar:

Got this guitar for my first "decent" guitar, and it taught me everything I know. After out growing my amp, I knew my next upgrade was the pickups, which were the EMG "Het Set", which were the best choice I ever made. Great tone, great action once adjusted. The only issues I've had, is I had to replace a tuning key that stripped after only 3 sets of strings, and when replacing the pickups, the hole in the guitar is very small, so it was hard to wire.

I use this to play metal, rock, grunge, as well as using my chorus pedal on it. It's not to heavy, and is well balanced. Personally, the best 270 I ever spent. I will never get rid of my first real guitar.

Bought this as Christmas present for little brother. I own 3 gibby LPsand wasn't expecting much. Fit ,finish tone and playability were big surprise. A real fun guitar. The Pups gave full range of tones and neck was a dream. Not a lot of ginger bread but certaintly not a ' beginner' guitar. Could easily use on stage.

The guitar snobs will tell you that this is a fake Les Paul and so on but I've had many different guitars over the years and this is one of my favorites. It plays nice, feels good, looks good and sounds awesome. I would be lying if I said that I wasn't planning on changing the pick ups eventually. Not that these sound bad because they don't. I just want to throw in some Zak Wylde EMG's or something similar. Buy this guitar, you won't be sorry
