My only negative, which is minor, is that the second tone control sticks just a little once set to full up.
I wish I could be more specific but this is just the BEST feeling guitar in my fingering hand I have ever played. The maple neck just seems perfect and my hand glides over the frets. It just fits my hand and feels great. I love it. Beautiful finish, classic strat sound. I'm very pleased.

When MF was offering these for less than $1k I snapped one up. What an instrument! Quality from tip of headstock to the bouts. Plays like a dream, setup perfect, quiet, and the pick attack is sensational! Two point trem is smooth and the tone is sweet to nasty, and the overall sound jumps out of the amp like no other instrument. These new Strats are better than any other 25.5" scale guitar hands down. I tried ESP, BC Rich, Charvel, and believe me, get one of these instead. They're more money but they have gorgeous finishes, tuning is really stable, and the tone is Fender, Fender, Fender. Really great guitar, worth the investment, and you won't want to put it down!

My 2012 Fender American Standard Stratocaster came in Olympic White with a Maple Fretboard and a Gold Anodized Pickguard. I have been playing guitar for 34 years and know a thing or two about guitars. Simply put, this guitar is AMAZING!! Top shelf fit, finish, and hardware. The tone is outstanding. The Fat 50's Pickups are not replicas of pickups from 1950, rather a modern version that has tone, sustain, and harmonic overtones that are stunning. They are also very quiet for single coils. The vibrato bar system stays in tune all the time. I used "Big Bends Nut Sauce" when I changed the strings and no tuning issues at all. As a matter of fact, when I take the guitar out of the case it is spot on "in tune".

I have two American stratocasters . one is a 2002 with a rosewood fret board and the other is a 1988 with a maple fret board. I have also played others in other options. my '02 has a chocolate satin finish. it has the factory reverse wound, reverse polarity middle pickup and that really does the trick when it comes to the 60 cycle hum. that guitar also has the thicker bridge block..... well, a lot of players overlook this option but it really adds a lot of sustain. "almost as much as a set neck guitar". and the neck and fret board is like something that lies in the dreams of kings. AWESOME. my '88 is almost as awesome as the '02. it just doesn't have as good of noise control. it also has slightly less sustain. it is in charcoal frost and both are absolutely beautiful. also, I have played the humbucker strats. they sound almost like a Gibson with Seymour Duncan sh1's. I have recently bought a Gibson sg standard. also a great guitar but the quality of the finish and the playability of the neck couldn't match up to a fender. weather you're a strat person or a tele person, I just know there are enough fenders in about any price range that is pretty much built for you. I would definitely recommend any fender guitar to players of all skillsets.

The quality of tone and the inclusion of custom shop pickups attracted me to it and then I couldn't put it down. Intended to buy a squier vintage modified which is also a very cool guitar, but picked this up on sale and have not looked back. Fit, finish and quality is all there. Electronics dead quiet and some of the best strat tone I've heard in many years. I got the charcoal frost metallic wih maple and love the color. The feel and tone are strat heaven and the TSA case is light and very protective. Tuners are solid and the only upgrade I've done is to put the string saver saddles on although my son is urging me to put the stock ones back on. Comes with really light strings (009's) which bend really easily. Outstanding craftsmanship - Fender is back!

11/2012 Charcoal metallic / rosewood strat.
Came in the really cool flight-style case safely via UPS. Plays well right out of the box. I have a 1995 American Standard strat lipstick red
and the 2012 has different PUs, but really not quite as loud as the 1995 (?), but more bite. The mid PU is stronger. The 2012 has magnetic poles at a staggered height. The 2nd tone knob now appears to work for both the mid and bridge PUs which is kinda nice. No 'notch' like the 95.
Better to dial-in some quasi-tele twang on the bridge PU but cutting some treble if necessary.
The neck shape is about the same as the 95.
Both appear to have the same satin neck, the 2012 has glossy headstock and only one string tree. Can't tell about the finish, looks like the same poly but time will tell. Not only do the knobs look 'aged', but the PU covers as well. Played a few gigs with this already through a Peavey Classic 50 and BanditII with the Boss Blues Driver. Sounded great, fun to play.

Setup was spot on right out the box. The action was perfect, as well as, intonation. Not one buzzing fret. I bought the charcoal frost metal and the paint was flawless. I bought this guitar to complete and diversify my sound. I am Gibson Les Paul owner and lover but sometimes its too much guitar for certain songs. The tone and character of this guitar has Fender Strat written all over it. The quality seems high and I am extremely happy with my purchase.

great guitar. my first american made. i just love it, amazing sound, a little bit high action, but just fine if you attack hard. the high action isn't a big issue. a luthier can setup. i own a epi lespaul standard plus top, w/ upgrade humbuckers and setting up by the luthier. but the newone is just awesome!! just one thing. one of the pots is hard to move.
