If I had to sum my review up in two words I would say "Im impressed". I have been playing primarily LP's for the past 20+ years and while Ive always liked the way strat's feel I never found one with the "right" tone for my style. That was until I played a friend's American lonestar Stratocaster. That guitar got me looking to buy a previously owned or NOS MIA lonestar until I came upon this MIM twin. I really wanted to get my hands on one before buying, but none of my local stores had any stocked. I did get my hands on its sister guitar, the MIM roadhouse strat, and the quality and feel seemed very good for the 10 or 15 minutes I had hands on it. Thanks to the great reviews for this guitar here on MF and my very good previous experiences with MF, I decided to order this MIM lonestar. Not only is this the first fender electric Ive owned in a very long time, it's the first time Ive ever purchased a guitar without actually handling/playing it first, and again, Im impressed. Since I put a lot of value on many of the reviews here before I bought, I thought it appropriate to give my own detailed review in hopes it would help someone else in their decision, so here it is.

Firstly, I placed my order on Thursday and the guitar arrived on Saturday, was packed very well, the Fender packing was packed inside another box that was well packed, the outer box had some wear but the inner Fender packaging was pristine. Also, not sure if this applies to all, but based on the description I did not expect this guitar to come with a gig bag, but I was happily surprised when I pulled the guitar out and it WAS in a Fender gig bag, nothing fancy, typical fender bag, but better quality than many gig bags Ive had in the past. I would still hardshell this when it leaves the house as gig bags and travel oddly don't mix well for me.

The guitar itself was in perfect condition out of the box, no dents or scratches or other indications of mis-handling. The guitar came with the proper truss rod and saddle tools along with a generic fender manual and trem arm. The 3-tone sunburst is very nice to look at and while I planned on throwing on a 4ply white pickguard, the brown tort is kinda growing on me, looks very vintage fender.

This guitar has some heft to it which I like, Im used to slinging a 12lb Gibson LP custom and while its not near as heavy, this strat has the feel of a substantial guitar while providing a nice break from the usual 12 pounds on my shoulder or knee. The neck was arrow straight, actually a little too straight, and did require a little dialing in. Besides the neck there were a couple minor setup tweaks to get things set to my liking, typical for any guitar Ive ever owned. The satin finish on the neck is lovely, feels fast and doesn't get sticky with sweaty hands. All the screws, nuts, bolts, washers etc were perfectly tight, nothing coming loose and nothing over tightened or stripped out. The tint on the neck was not orange as I had read in other reviews, at least not on mine, in fact, ive scoured this guitar looking for flaws and I cannot find but two tiny spots on the back of the neck that are a tad darker than the rest. I am extremely happy with the overall fit and finish on this guitar, looks and feels like a much more expensive example. The fret job on this guitar is the best ive seen on any import I own and better than a couple of my newer model Gibson standard's/studio's. No sharp ends, nicely rounded, and polished to mirrors make this a very fast and finger friendly board. Caps, pots and switch could likely use an upgrade, the cut on the tone's don't dial out as smooth as Id like but it's a minor complaint in the larger view. I ratcheted down my trem since I don't use a bar on this guitar and Ive had no major issues with this guitar staying in tune for the couple hours im on it.

As for the Texas specials and the PG+ pickups, which to be honest were the primary reason I chose this model, they are everything I remembered from my buddy's MIA lonestar. The texas special's have a sound all their own, and they are tasty. They have beautiful crystal clean cleans when the volume is rolled back a tad, and a very sweet light crunch when cranked to 11, hardly any hum even in the first or third positions and without any noise suppression mod. The PG+ humbucker is full on ZZtop with a very bright high end. The HSS setup with these pickups are what really set this strat apart from others Ive played and made it a perfect tonal addition amongst my various Les Paul setups.

Overall Id give this guitar very high marks, from build quality to feel to sound, it is a very nice guitar and a great deal at this price point. Im happy to have this Fender in my arsenal and it has changed my opinion of MIM strats for the better.

I purchased this Strat from my local music store. I returned it with two days. Although the feel and playability of the guitar was nice, the tone was terible. I upgraded to the HSS American Strat. American strat has much better quality for the few extra dollars.

I have been trying to get a second strat for a long time and have been thru a lot of them, I ordered this one ( I have never bought one online before, always played them first) and have been thrilled with the feel and tone. Sounds best thru an all tube amp than a solid state. A friend has an American model and this mim one sounds as good if not better, and the action and feel of the neck is identical . Good detail work all over the guitar shows. I will be buying another one real soon for my dad who was very impressed with it.

Comments about Fender Deluxe Lonestar Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

I always loved the first guitar I learned on...my Squire HSS Strat. I since gotten rid of it but wanted that Strat sound and feel back. So I went for the real deal this time. The Lonestar was perfect since it had the upgraded pickups. When I received the guitar I was dissapointed because the Humbucker had wax and wires coming out one side and the ribbon that wraps around the pick up was pushed down and somewhat torn. Their was also pitting or bubbles in the paint. I returned that one and got a replacement. So far I am very pleased with the replacement. No issues...and man does it sound awesome! I play through a Jet City JCA20H Tube Amp and 2x12 Cabinet. My other guitars are an ESP Viper with EMGs and a Schecter with Humbuckers and a Floyd Rose. This Lonestar does it all...and I will be grabbing it the most off the wall hanger to jam with. I love my Lonestar!

Comments about Fender Deluxe Lonestar Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

First off, so you don't have to read through all the waffle I am going to be typing, I reccomend to just go ahead and buy it. Bottom line is this a great value for your money. Let's look into why:

Let's say you buy a bog standard Stratocaster. Want a throatier pickup at the bridge? Add some more money plus whatever it may cost for intstall. How about those kind of thin standard single coils? Texas specials are pretty pricey. With the lonestar you get some excellent, well thought out upgrades for a small amount of money. How can you go wrong?

I recieved my package in excellent condition;never once has MF let me down on that. After getting the guitar out and doing some tuning, I just could not put it down, and this was at my work and unplugged. Directly from the factory the setup was exactly how it should be, no funny buzzes or intonation issues. The strings only needed to be snapped a few times to hold the pitch.

When I got home and plugged it...wow. I am playing this through a Fender Blues jr. III Tweed and it ROARS! I am used to my glassy sounding American Standard with a single coil configuration and this is loud and in your face, definitely a guitar that is meant for stand in the spotlight soloing because the mids are ALL there. The harmonics the Pearly Gates pickup produce are colorful and the sound carries twice as long as a single coil.

The Texas Specials are no sloutches either; you can tell they are wound a bit more and again bring out those mids. I set them flush with the pickguard (a personal preference) and that tames them a bit, and to my liking.

The body finish is flawless, the neck is smooth and satin like, the fretboard has no cracks or flaws, the only "gripe" if there is one is the sealant on the fretboard wasn't wiped completely off so it was a bit pale; some finger grease got it dark. Again, it's so insignificant but I feel I should have some balance.

What can you use this guitar for? Everything. Crank the volume knob to 10 for stand out soloing, turn it to 6 for rhythm, and play with the single coils for whatever mood strikes you.

Just look at that price...how can you go wrong?? Compare, contrast, look at other reviews...you will not be mislead or decieved.

Comments about Fender Deluxe Lonestar Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

Nice guitar. Looks good, Sounds good, Plays good (after setting up). Was exactly what I wanted. Purchased because of the upgraded pickups and the humbuckers. Tried an American HSS and this one seems as good if not better. Changed strings to what I normally use (10's)and the bridge rose an inch. Pulled off the back plate and there are only 3 springs and room for 5. Was able to tighten the spring tension enough to keep the bridge from rising. Adjusted the neck for my liking. Contacted MF and was offered an exchange but asked for additional tremolo springs. Those were shipped immediately. Really like the guitar. I play an American tele I've had since 92 and this one is a little lighter and the sound is certainly different, but equally as good. Was a bit "concerned" with MIM but so far am pleased. Still a bit early but am very happy thus far. A welcome addition to the collection. MF is great to do business with.

Comments about Fender Deluxe Lonestar Stratocaster Electric Guitar:

This is only my second guitar, and my first electic.

I was amazed to find that this guitar was 99% in tune straight out of the box according to my yamaha digital tuner. The low E string needed less than an 1/8 turn tweak.

Action seems perfect. More experienced musicians may feel that it needs a bit more tweaking to suit them, but that's an individual thing. I may adjust it later once I have a better idea what I prefer, but mine was perfectly playable straight out of the box.

Build, fit and finish, and tolerances are all impeccable. I'm not a guitar expert yet, but I've been an engineer in various manufacturing environments for around 20 years and I know quality manufacturing when I see it. I've briefly handled a few made in the USA Strat's and was unable to see a major difference. I'd say this guitar is 95% as good for >50% the price. Can't beat the value.

No string buzz, no sharp fret edges, no quirks in the electronics, no flaws in the finish at all.

I've played this thing A LOT since I got it. We're talking six hours a day at the LEAST for almost two months, and it's needed retuned only once.

Very versatile guitar. Tweaking the various pickup and tone configurations on the guitar alone can get you a wide range of sounds from chicken pickin' country to a prettty typical Strat "quack" sound to a Hendrix/SRV sound to a heavy ZZ Top hard rock type of sound sound.

Really impressed. I can't put it down!

Im happy to have this Fender in my arsenal and it has changed my opinion of MIM strats for the better.

what an axe,wow is all there is to say. 10 for wow factor, playability, sound, tone, looks ect..
the complaint would be where the neck bolts to the body is not completely flush like it is on the
american fenders. But the guitar is so awesome to play and gives you total enjoyment that a guitar
should, that complaint really needs to be overlooked. So I will just enjoy this fine axe.

This is a follow up review, like I said I've had it a few years now and I'm very happy (and so is my band)... still very satisfied with what I got for the money!
The HSS setup is great for the "gigging musician"... lots of options right at your finger tips.. the single coils clean up really well when you roll the volume back and the Pearly Gates really sings!
When compared to other guitars in this price range, I think the quality is very good with this axe. I gig almost every weekend with it and have no complaints (I've had it a few years now)... some of our gigs are in "dives" so I wouldn't want to take a guitar that costs a lot in there anyway!
Not going to give anything a 10 but it is a great value.
