This is easily the best guitar I have ever played for this amount of money. I was looking for a new, inexpensive guitar at a local music store and here was this beauty just hanging on the wall. I fell in love the instant I held it. I went back to the store the next week and it was gone, but I just had to have this guitar so I ordered it. There is nothing else like it. Then amber finish is absolutely stunning, but that's not the best part. The Duncan pickups have a great tone and in combination with the selector and coil splitter you get a wide range of tones from cutting highs to chunky bass which makes this the most versatile guitar I own. Some might complain that this guitar is lacking in fullness compared to a Les Paul, but that's all made up for in versatility. It played perfectly right out of the box without any setup. The only problems I have ever had with this guitar is that the jack seems to come loose too often, even after multiple tightenings and the black hardware tarnishes quickly if not wiped off after every use. Definitely worth the money (and it plays way better then my friend's $2000 Les Paul.)

Great guitar! The jumbo frets make it a breeze to play. But be warned. These are not Seymour Duncans. If they were, the SD logo would appear on the pick ups. MF has been using this description for years, but there are NO Seymour Duncan pickups. Yes, FMT Telecasters sometimes come with Seymour Duncans, but this description turns up time and time again even though the gutiar being sold her has no Seymour Duncan pickups! Still, the Fender humbuckers in this guitar sound fine, but not as good as the SD's that are advertised!

Comments about Fender Special Edition Custom Telecaster FMT HH Electric Guitar:

I own 7 electric guitars and they all have unique qualities. This telecaster FMT HH (does anyone know what those letters are supposed to mean?) is a really fun guitar to play and produces many different tones. It has become my "go to" practice guitar.

I have an American Deluxe Tele which has better "Tele" tones and a wider range of sounds. But it is much heavier. The FMT HH is so easy to just grab and play away on. The thin neck is pretty fast and the pickups are fabulous. Another reviewer said they were not SDs, but they say "Semour Duncan" on them so I think that is what they are!

I have an Epiphone Les Paul with SD pickups that sound beautiful. The ones on the FMT HH are a bit warmer sounding. When you go to the single coil you have to increase the volume a bit but they definitely increase the number of sounds you can get. My Les Paul gets a jazzy sound that can easily go towards fusion and Santana, the FMT HH gets a jazzy sound that is bouncier and has more of an open "archtop" kind of sound. There are videos on YouTube that do a great job of demonstrating this guitar's sound and versitility.

I have the yellow/maple model and it's beautiful. I would not buy a guitar based on what it looked like, but this one is an amazing combination of low price, great looks, great sound and fun to play. What's missing? Nothing!

Comments about Fender Special Edition Custom Telecaster FMT HH Electric Guitar:

I started playing guitar in the 60's and have had Gretch, Fender, Ibanez and Epiphone and this Tele FMY is one of the best playing guitars i have ever played. But it really is too pretty to play, I wouldn't want to put a mark on one of the prettiest flame tops I have seen. Forget about the pictures, this thing opos under stage lighting. I bought the amber color and the finish is perfect and the neck and body binding is a nice touch. The rosewood fret board is a s dark as ebony and smooth and not dry at all. The frets are finished nicely. The mahogany neck has a gloss finish but is not sticky as some Gibsons I have played. The mahogany head is finished like the back and sets it off from the usaual Tele look. I play Blues but this thing can handel anything. The tone knob is more usable than my American Standard Tele and allows you to get a very warm jazz tone and the Tele twang is there too with a twist of the knob. The coil tap is great but you do loose volume when used. I find myself playing rhythm on single coil and push in the tone knob for for that humbucker sound and a volume boost for solos. This guitar is a Les Paul want-to-be but in a good way. The LP tone is there but in a Tele shape. Out of the box the action was so low with no string buzz that i had to raise it to what I like. I tuned it and set the intonation and now I'm good to go. My American Standard costs alot more but the FMT has become my number one.

Comments about Fender Special Edition Custom Telecaster FMT HH Electric Guitar:

Bought this over three years ago. mine came with the pearly gates. (I dont think they have that pup anymore.) Still love this Guitar.

Pro: Nice thin neck. super low action after replacing the stock nut great sounds with the coil tap and all. Sounds like my les paul with the humbucker engaged. roll back on the volume a touch and pull the tap and you get beautiful cleans like a strat. This is my go to guitar over my Gibson or Ibanez because the coil tap give you sooooo many options and what a pretty finish in the cherry burst.

Cons: I had to replace a bad volume pot after only a year. The thin neck is super comfortable , but it is very sensitive to the elements. I take it from my car to the studio and have to retune probably 4 or five times in the first hour while the neck adjusts to the temp change or change in humidity. The black (anodized?) hardware is begining to tarnish and you cant polish the black back into the hardware.

I would buy another one in a heartbeat.

Comments about Fender Special Edition Custom Telecaster FMT HH Electric Guitar:

The concept of this telecaster is ahead of its time. The use of quality Seymour Duncan pick-ups with the coil taps is a great idea. The solid mahogany body with the relief cut in the top makes for a lighter guitar. I ordered one as soon as I did some research on the Internet. The neck is thin and has a 14 or 15 inch radius which makes the neck almost flat. The strings sit low on the fretboard with no fret buzz. It was set up right out of the box. Now, for the bad. This guitar looked like it was put together by a person on his first day on the job. There was a gouge in the finish right above the bridge pickup. It looks as though the screwdriver slipped when installing the pickup. The flame maple top was mismatched. The top half looked more like a plain top and the bottom half looked like flamed maple presenting a noticeable contrast in the finish. I got the Amber color and the headstock was not the same as the body color. The headstock was stained the same dark color as the back and neck of the guitar. The stain, however, was dark in some areas and light in others giving the impression of a homemade finish.I called Musician's Friend and asked if I could get the guitar in a solid color. I couldn't. I sent the guitar back and ordered an Epiphone Les Paul Tribute Plus in its stead. I liked the guitar and if it was offered in a solid color to get away from the flamed maple look I would probably take a chance again and buy it. I have other Fender guitars and the fit and finish are perfect. I don't understand how this one slipped past the ispection.

I am very happy with this guitar. Did want to mention that I was unaware I had even received the guitar. UPS left the package on my back porch and only found it cause I went out my back door on Sunday morning and saw it on the ground. The expected shipment date was listed as Friday which it may have been. I have no clue since they left nothing in the door/mailbox to notify me it had been delivered. I live next door to a High School and kids cut through my yard everyday. That guitar could have walked and I never would have known it. My only recommendation would be to use another agency for your shipping. (Fed Ex and USPS always leave a notice tag when they leave a package that's not in the door or your mailbox)

Comments about Fender Special Edition Custom Telecaster FMT HH Electric Guitar:

Bought this guitar about 2 years ago and not only is it stunning with its Amber finish it also plays really easily too with such a slim neck profile. I have no problems with my small hands just shredding the heck out of the fretboard and I can reach the 22nd fret without any issues since the neck is set the way it is. I did dock a point on quality because the smoked chrome will tarnish over time on the hardware and the tuners are kind of hard to keep exact at all times. The pickups are amazing and sound very nice, they give the guitar that PAF sound that I love and use for classic rock, hard rock, and blues. The only thing is its not meant to play death metal but it'll cover any other genre as long as you don't need tons of bass, the coil taps are a huge plus since it can do that strat or tele sound without switching guitars all the time ecspecially if you are on a budget cause this guitar is not a bad price for all the features you are getting. The paint job and build quality could easily rival and American made fender and you are saving a few hundred bucks in the long run. Give this guitar a try and I honestly don't think you'll regret it, just do it before Fender hikes up the price on this one as well.
