OVERVIEW

Loud and ferocious like its namesake.

The Gretsch Guitars G5191 Tim Armstrong Electromatic Hollowbody honors the punk rocker with a signature electric guitar. That full-bodied piano-like sound Tim loves is generated by parallel tone bars and a sound post mounted under the 17"-wide top. A harp tailpiece and a pair of "Black Top" Filter'Tron pickups deliver maximum sustain and tuning stability. Grover tuners, big block fretboard inlays, and gold-plated hardware set against the guitar's ominous flat black urethane finish are a recipe for inciting your senses to sonic euphoria.

Punk rock warlord Tim Armstrong makes no apologies that the music radiating from his soul is oftentimes loud and ferocious. His guitar tone alone has become as infamous as his world-renowned persona that resulted from playing guitar and singing vocals in revolutionary punk bands from Operation Ivy to Rancid. Armstrong has been asked to contribute his guitar talents in songs from a wide genre of bands, from punk bands like AFI and Bad Religion to hip hop and reggae acts like Cypress Hill and Buju Banton.

AMAZING!!!

By paul hicks

from In a house.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5191 Tim Armstrong Electromatic Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

Play one and you will be convinced as I was. Like other manufactures, this one probably will be discontinued at sometime. Get one before that happens. I will keep this guitar the rest of my life and when the end happens my grandson will have a great Gretsch guitar.
First off I don't buy a guitar with someone elses name on it. I made an exception this time and couldn't be more pleased. This guitar has an amazing tone. I wanted a Gretsch and when I saw it I just stared, then I played it. I played a White Falcon, a Brian Setzer, and a Country Gentleman and purchased the Armstrong. I saved a lot of money and never looked back.
The quality out of the box is great. My guitar technician didn't have to touch it.
You could say it is a little pricey, but why pay more for the other Gretsch guitars. This should cost more than I paid.

Great guitar!!!!!

By Brenn Hawkins

from New Jersey

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5191 Tim Armstrong Electromatic Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

The only issue I have is that it needed to be set up for my style of playing- but that is an individual decision. Tone and playability -smooth as butter. Just had my guitar setup and I'm even more in love with this guitar!!! Action is perfect and tone is beyond comparison. This axe completes me
The features are top of the line-no need to replace anything . When not being played I just like to look at her. She's beautiful
Built to be played. Should last for many years All the reviews I read are spot on!!!!!
A little pricy - however you get what you pay for _for me worth the $$$$$$$$

Great Gretsch Sound

By Gretschman3

from Iowa City, IA

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5191 Tim Armstrong Electromatic Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

This Guitar has that great Gretsch sound and a beautiful black finish with gold hardware. It reminds me of a Baldwin era Country Club but at a much nicer price.

An Electromatic with real Filter'trons !

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5191 Tim Armstrong Electromatic Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

This is the guitar that I have been waiting for. A budget friendly Gretsch with a 17" body, zero fret, gold hardware and real Filter'tron pickups. Much more like a Gretsch Professional Series than an Electromatic. Way to go Gretsch for bringing out this axe and thanks MF for selling it at a great price.

Should be priced twice as much!

By Julius General

from Wash. D.C.

Comments about Gretsch Guitars G5191 Tim Armstrong Electromatic Hollowbody Electric Guitar:

This Tim Armstrong model is a great guitar and Tim Armstrong is a great guitar player and song writer. It should be priced twice as much, it is as good as Gretsch's pro line of guitars but only at an Electromatics price. The pickups sound just as good as the TV Jones Classic Filtertrons.Get one before they run out or decide to raise the price.
