Although it seems well put together and the instructor gave it a thumbs up, I seriously doubt the Mikro would hold up to regular gigging or say, a 16 year old learning to play death metal. For a beginner though, it's an excellent value.
Dual Humbucker sound. Very gritty and excels in high gain and over driven styles. It's 3/4 size with 24 frets is smooth and easy to play. Really fits the definition of fast action. It's too small for my hands, but my 9yr old will probably use this for the next couple of years (he's very small).
No complaints - We tune prior to every use, partly to learn how to tune and usually because at least a couple of the strings are out of tune. We have .09 gauge strings on because they are easier on tiny fingers as well. The bolt on neck is a little ugly and doesn't fit flush with the body, but clearly stays even from the neck to the bridge. I assume the design is like this to keep the compact size with 24 frets. If it lasts the two years we're shooting for, then it will have been worth it.
Plugged into a Fender Mustang I amp with the high gain settings. Turn your back to the player and it sounds like the house is coming down. This would have been a dream rig to me 20 years ago, now it's a beginners bargain set up. I couldn't be happier.

I purchased this guitar for my 8 y/o son. I was unable to correctly set the intonation, so I dropped it of at a local music shop for the initial set up and adjustments. The music shop technician determined several of the guitar frets needed to be milled to prevent strings from buzzing. The quote for milling was costly, so I returned the guitar to Musicians Friend. I understand the guitar is entry level, but I would have expected Musicials Friend to screen out defective guitars prior to shipping.

I bought this for my 6yr old son and its perfect. It's small enough for him to handle but still large enough for him to use as he grows up. Our friend told us it was a great guitar and had a nice pickup. I'm not a musician so just going by his comments. To a novice ear, it sounds pretty good

My 4 year old loves watching me play and shows interest in playing so I bought him this for x-mas. It's a cool little guitar and comes with a good name on it. It's good for the price and will serve its purpose well for several years I'm sure.
Definately better than the walmart brand.

Comments about Ibanez GRGM21 Mikro Electric Guitar:
hey guys, i never used an amp with it so i can't really say much about the pickups or anything. Anyways, this guitars is ok if your a beginner, i wouldn't recommend this guitar if u have more than about a year of playing guitar. The tuning pegs are terrible, my guitar keeps getting un-tuned and every time i would put new strings on it, it would sound dull, as if i used the strings for about 3 months already. I wouldn't recommend this guitar for heavy metal, or post-hardcore, maybe for alternative or blues but thats about it. Also, trying to tune the guitar is a pain, it wouldn't give me an accurate reading, it kept going from flat to sharp and it would just skip the middle, it was really annoying, i'd recommend this guitar for kids under the age of 12. I didn't really like the guitar, so im trading mines in, hope this helps
Comments about Ibanez GRGM21 Mikro Electric Guitar:
I bought this guitar for my grandson and I was very pleased by the quality all around. It plays well, sounds good and it's inexpensive. How can you beat that for a first guitar? The only problem I have had with the guitar at all is the gig bag's zipper. The zipper broke pretty quickly. Maybe we got a bad one? What does a good zipper cost versus a piece of junk? Overall I love this little axe.
Not the best fret work I've ever seen but more than adequate for a first guitar.
The only way it could have better value is if they put a real zipper in the gig bag.
Comments about Ibanez GRGM21 Mikro Electric Guitar:
Overal rating is just great. Also the service from musicians' friend was very good. I tried to buy one locally, just because I do that when I can. Our music store had some on order, but they were not going to make it in time for Christmas. Musician's Friend had exactly what we wanted, in stock, and it got here in plenty of time, for a very reasonable price, in my opinion. Thank you!
In our extended family we probably have at least 10 guitars. My son has played since he was in jr. high, and now is teaching his son who is only 8. My grandson started on an acoustic, and is making such great progress, that we couldn't resist trying to find an Ibanez electric in his size. It was everything we wanted. IT was the right size, it was good looking, and the features it had were everything we wanted at this point.
Looks great, feels right, strings were easy to press, just awesome.
Value for the money is unbeatable.
Comments about Ibanez GRGM21 Mikro Electric Guitar:
Over all it's a good little starter guitar for kids. That's about it.
Double humbuckers, slim neck, light weight.
Had to replace the input jack because the prong that holds the cord in place kept bending. Plus the tunners aren't the best either
Great little guitar for the money

After trying this out in store and reasearching all reviews and info decided to buy a yr. later.I love this guitar best starter/travel guitar around for the price. This is a well made quality guitar, mine came set up to play out of the box.I do recomend changing the strings and using heavier gage one's and it will stay in tune way better. It will also stay in tune in standard pitch. The fit and finish are awesome a nice beautiful white guitar no flaws found at all.Sharktooth inlays are nice and the fre edges arn't sharp either. The most fun comfortable neck I ever played can't put the damn thing down.Neck is smooth, fast and thin as well as flat.I'm an adult beginner with smaller hands and this guitar is a joy to play and makes playing and learning fun.Pickups are ok for stock. Now I have a guitar I can finally play with a great comfortable neck I cannot say enough about how comfortable it is to play. All kids and beginners should have one. This is my first Ibanez and the quality is good I also see why lots of people play them and about the Ibanez necks.
Comments about Ibanez GRGM21 Mikro Electric Guitar:
I own a Mikrosonic 50 which is the same as this guitar except it has one powersound pickup and a built-in amp and speaker.I use it for all my electric guitar practice because my amp is rarely in the house. The sound of the built in amp is acceptable for practice and the short scale allows me to do thigs I can't do on my Les Paul.In three years it's never occured to me to plug the mikro into an amp. Well, the other day the Mikro was in the same room as a craig 60 watt amp with a 12" speaker. I plugged in to see what would happen. Wow with just one pickup this little thing screamed. I'm definitely getting one of the grg21's. The tuners on mine are not that bad.I think the neck is great. The frets are a little scrunched up on the high end but you can get used to it.If you have any interest in a short scale guitar I higly recommend this one.
