I have owned this guitar for a year and a half; it was my first. I just graduated to a new Takamine, and I thought I would write a farewell review of sorts, because this guitar deserves it. I bought this guitar on a whim really hoping I would stick with it and learn to play an instrument. As soon as I received it I brought to my best friend?s house whom has played for 10+ years. He gave it a look, a strum, and then, before I know it, he is making this guitar talk, ever so softly, the beautiful language of music. This guitar CAN sound beautiful. It sure does make wanting to keep playing easier when you KNOW it can sound great. This guitar will keep you coming back. It is just a great guitar to start out on, plain and simple. However, some things you should be aware of, is that the neck on this guitar is REALLY wide, and whatever you do, don?t try and get it ?set-up?. I took it to my repair man so he could lower the action a bit, and sense then I have had buzzing on the 3rd and 12th frets ? two very important frets. So I had him replace the nut to the factory one because I can?t stand buzzing! The action on this guitar is really high from factory. It makes playing it harder than other guitars, but for just starting out, it is perfect. If you can learn to make this guitar sound good, then when you get a better one, it will be soooo easy to play. You will feel like your skill took a 6-month jump forwards. I still own this guitar, and do not plan on selling it. It has become my camp fire and hiking buddy. If it wasn?t for this guitar, I would not have the relationship with music I have now. Thank you Ibanez and musician?s friend for sparking a life-long love of guitar with me.

My main gripe is the fret work. The bottom edge of the neck is smooth, but the top edge feels like a saw when you run your finger across it. I should have sent it back immediately for exchange, but didn't. The first three frets under the third string cannot be made to not buzz and make a "thunggg" sound, no matter how close to the fret the finger is or how hard you press. The guitar looks good, but there are some real quality issues to be adressed in the finishing stages of manufacture. If I had it to do over, I would not buy this model. Even an entry-level guitar should play properly. I also had to shell out another $20 for a real guitar tuner. The small one that comes with this package is so difficult to get right, as to be almost useless. I would say at this factory, someone is asleep on the line, as is the quality inspector.

I'm a beginner guitar player and I absolutely LOVE this guitar! It sounds beautiful! The tuner was crap, but it worked, I suggest you buy a new tuner. I love the picks that came with it. Great guitar overall, no complaints! :D

I bought this as a gift for a friend who had to sell his Martin due to $$ problems,He was very happy with it . I thought it sounded very good ,with a nice bright tone .The tuner worked good, the gig bag was what I expected so I ordered the hardshell tweed case. For something in the used deparment I could'nt tell and neither could my friend.
I expect that this will be a keeper for ever great for all levels from beginers to experts lookinf for someting to take outdoors to jam at beaches ,picnics, camping etc
As for value it's from Musicians Friend so it can't be beat!!

Comments about Ibanez JamPack IJV50 Quickstart Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

This is my first acoustic guitar(mostly play electric). I decided to pick up a cheap one to expand on. Upon recieving my package, I was very pleased (and still am). The guitar had only 1 minor scratch, probably from shipping. The strings are fine, nothing wrong with them, just new so need to be worked in. Good quality construction. Guitar has a great tone. Sounds better then I expected it to. Sounds as good as some martins I have played. The bag is a tight fit, but it fits the guitar. Tuner is pretty easy to figure out, also nice and compact. Strap is a standard nylon strap, works great. The small pouch is great for the tuner and picks(they throw in 5 ibanez picks). This package also comes with a spare bridge.Overall a very good deal for the price paid. I am very pleased about my investmen.

Comments about Ibanez JamPack IJV50 Quickstart Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

I bought this guitar while deployed. I was expecting a throw away guitar, where I would not have to incur the exspense of shipping it back to the states. However, I was very impressed with the quality and the tone of this starter pack guitar. For basically a hondo, you get a great sounding axe. I would reccomend this Ibanez to anyone just starting out, or if you need a camping axe, or an axe that you can take anywhere and not worry about burning alot of dough (if it gets beat up). Well worth the money. And by the way, yes I did ship it back to the states...

Comments about Ibanez JamPack IJV50 Quickstart Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

I was amazed when I opened the box & saw it. It looks as good as a "high end" guitar. The sound is loud & smooth. My only problem was a couple of fret burrs which was a 2 minute job to fix. I tightened the neck 1/2 a round & put a set of Martin FX strings on it. WOW! I have 4 Ibanez guitars & am quite fond of all 4. Ibanez is an
astounding mfg.co. Try one!

Great Deal

By Mary Dunn

Comments about Ibanez JamPack IJV50 Quickstart Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

I purchased this for my daughter for her 10th birthday. She has never played guitar before, so this pack looked like a good deal. I wanted a quality guitar, but didn't want to pay too much being that she is just a beginner. I can say that the guitar appears to be well made and has a good sound. I would recommend this guitar to anyone who wanted a decent acoustic without paying too much.

Great guitar, according to people who know. I got her ("Harriet") to learn acoustic on, and have been taking jam lessons from family and friends, each person saying I got a great deal! I'm very happy with the additional equip and her overall tone, sound, and look!

!st Guitar

Comments about Ibanez JamPack IJV50 Quickstart Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

This was my first guitar, and I still use it. I got it in December of 2007 and at the time I wasn't really sure if it was worth it. However, since then I've become very proficent with the guitar as a player in general, and I see no problem with it. When I had to change the strings the first time, the pegs were too small for the holes and broke inside the guitar, but I just took it to a shop and they fixed it up nice. I recommend buying an extra padded gig bag or a case as the bag that comes with is poor. Depending on the strings you put on it, it sounds great, I'm using bright bronze strings now and the sound is good. This is the guitar I'm teaching my girlfriend on and I am going to buy her one of her own.

Comments about Ibanez JamPack IJV50 Quickstart Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

I received this JamPack as a gift from my dad for my 14th birthday in 2004. 9 years later, I still play this guitar almost every day. I learned on it, progressed to "better, more expensive" acoustics which eventually were sold, and have hung onto this cheap Ibanez. My example has press-in tuners, which is my only real gripe. These may be upgraded to bolt-in tuners someday, but i'm in no rush. The guitar holds tune for weeks (really), and holds intonation and a setup forever (I set it up once, when I first learned how to work on my own guitars somewhere around 2008. It's still holding that setup perfectly).

The build is very solid, the tone is perfectly passable, especially considering what was paid, and I've had a very hard time justifying higher priced guitars because of just how much I enjoy my cheap Ibanez.

A lot of little flaws

By ErikW

from Midland, TX

See all my reviews

Comments about Ibanez JamPack IJV50 Quickstart Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

My old acoustic guitar was on its last leg, so I purchased this one and have been the most ANNOYED by the fret buzz!I took it to the music store and he kept mentioning, "Well, guitars of this 'price-range' tend to have many problems." He showed me the poor fret quality, the bent neck, and the uneven little plastic thing next to the pins. Please read the rational reviews b/4 u buy! I didn't mind the monetary loss, but after 20 bucks for some better stings, breaking it in for 2 months, it still rattles and buzzes my patience away. I don't know which price-range I need to find so my guitar won't buzz! Grrrr..I haven't used the gig bag or strap. Why? To let my friends hear the buzzing and rattles too? Tuner does its job, nothing fancy. This guitar is best suited as a piece of art because of its beauty, very well polished and rich colors. Fret buzz, eneven frets, warped neck, terrible rattles, uneven strings.. other then that it's fine, lol.

Comments about Ibanez JamPack IJV50 Quickstart Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

This Guitar is prety amazing. the sound is excellent and the tone is way out of its league. for the price i got it for, its an excellent guitar. the tuner isnt the best, and the case falls apart in a month or two, but the strings are fine and should last a little while. i would suggest getting some more picks cuz the picks the pack comes with are pretty sad, but other than that its a stellar buy!!!

Perfect kit for a starter and sounds good.

By Andrew Unplugged

from Ringwood, NJ

See all my reviews

Comments about Ibanez JamPack IJV50 Quickstart Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

I bought the kit as my first guitar, mainly because I didn't want to spend too much in case this new hobby didn't stick. I bought this kit because of the high reviews of the guitar and because it included the little things, like a tuner and picks. After six months, I upgraded to something better. But, I will keep this guitar and tuner and continue to use it at a vacation home. My only complaint is the strings that come with it aren't great and should be replaced immediately. Makes a huge difference. There is some very minor fret buzz and I read the gig case that comes with it is worthless because it is too small. But, for the price, it was much more than I expected and is a great value.

Comments about Ibanez JamPack IJV50 Quickstart Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

I have owned this guitar for well over a year and it still sounds like the day a bought it. For a guitar this cheap on top of coming with everything you need, its a great deal. Ive noticed that the pack has changed over time. I got this pack a while ago and when my friend got the same thing, the neck was wider than mine, the body had a darker color, the tuner was different, and some other minor detalis. My drummer baught it too and his was a little different also. I got this because im not much of an acoustic player and this was cheap and i like ibanez. This guitar has gone through a lot with me. All kinds of weather, its got a LOT of dinks, dents, and scratches, people abusing it, dropping it, and a lot of playing time. And it overall sounds good and is a great deal. Especially for beginners or if you play more electric and you just want a durable acoustic for campfires and some fun.

Comments about Ibanez JamPack IJV50 Quickstart Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack:

This is a very good learning guitar and has a very nice sound. I was a little bit dissapointed with the things that came in the pack with the guitar. The strap is more an annoyance as it makes a squeeky sound against the guitar if you move. The tuner that came with it is not the same one pictured here. It's a very cheap tuner that doesn't really work. I had to buy a new strap and tuner so the "pack" was mostly pointless.
