OVERVIEW

Contoured basswood body with high-speed neck and DiMarzio pickups.

Steve Vai is one of the revered few on that short list of players who have changed the way we all think about what a guitar can really do. His signature Ibanez guitars are no different: iconic, sublime, awe-inspiring, and outrageous.

The Ibanez JEM/UV Series is a spectacular instrument that features a contoured basswood body and a 5-piece maple and walnut bolt-on neck that provides easy access to all registers. A 24-fret maple fingerboard is adorned with a colorful "Tree of Life" pattern inlay and has the high-speed JEM Premium profile that gives Steve Vai the playability he needs.

The JEM77P sports Cosmo Black hardware and includes Steve's "Monkey Grip" handle cut on the body. The JEM77P is loaded with a pair of DiMarzio Gravity Storm humbuckers and a DiMarzio Evolution single-coil in the middle position. This pickup combination with 5-way selector switch features a wide sound variety of great tones needed for modern rock. The acclaimed Edge Zero II tremolo features lower profiled design for playing comfort and locking studs contribute to tuning stability. Hardshell case included.

Comments about Ibanez JEM77P Steve Vai Signature JEM Premium Series Electric Guitar:

I love Japanese Ibanez stuff, period. I am one of those weirdos who will drag a JEM, or a Saber off to go chicken picken with, and they do a darn fine job from C&W to jazz to rock to metal, and everything in between. Even the high end Asian Ibanez guitars are very nice. I have been an Ibanez fan for over 35 years. I own Artists, Stage Masters, S Series, Radius, JEM, etc. I even have some rare Roadstar models of which less than 200 were made. One is an acoustic/electric, akin to the Chet Atkins Gibson model, or the Taylor T5. I like the Ibanez better. Period.

Comments about Ibanez JEM77P Steve Vai Signature JEM Premium Series Electric Guitar:

I really wanted this to be my go to guitar. It arrived and I was extremely excited to get it out and play. The tags on the guitar shown signatures that it passed QC at the Indonesian factory as I gave it my own once over. The wood that was used for the neck had a fret marker sized hole about half way down the neck that you could feel and was very noticeable. It was a poor choice of wood for the neck and it wasn't properly finished by the factory. I tried my best to ignore it for the next few hours but it was just too much to deal with on a guitar at this price point. So I took a chance and lost my bet. I setup and exchange for a Charvel USA Select So Cal and hope that an American made guitar will have better QC. We'll see. Thanks MF for making this right. Just sucks that it takes to return and then wait for another guitar to be shipped back to me.

Comments about Ibanez JEM77P Steve Vai Signature JEM Premium Series Electric Guitar:

My friend loaned me her old Jem, first release, and I fell in love with it and had to have one. This Jem arrived and it was nearly in tune when it arrived. This thing stays in tune and it has a floating trem, what? I have some very nice guitars, this one stays in tune better that any other guitar I have ever had, it's ridiculous. I did hate the sweep on the volume knob, but doing volume swells, it makes sense. The old Jem is the same, so Steve must like it this way. I prefer an even sweep, like on the EVH guitars. The center pickup on the old Jem has a more rich sound, but I really like this one, especially they way it blends with the neck and bridge pick up. The new Jem is much more sturdy and stable in comparison to the old Jem. I am a Fender strat guy, I am very surprise how much I love this guitar. Now, I pick up my favorite stat and run out of frets? :( Didn't see that consequence! I Great Guitar! Great Job Ibanez!
