Comments about Mitchell MM100 Mini Double Cutaway Electric Guitar:

Pros: It's is a small guitar; hence the the name mini. Would make a good travel or beginner guitar, or for someone with small hands. Has a nice feel when holding and playing.

Cons: Where to start... The build quality is terrible. Yeah, I know it was made in China. What isn't these days. The body has a flaw when it was cut out. They just sanded over it and painted the body. The neck was not sanded up behind the first fret very well. Rough...will need to be sanded. The neck has a either a burn or a knot mark in the wood when it was being cut. The hardware is obviously low quality. The nut was also cut too deep; as are most guitars that come from Asia. It will need a full setup. I will do what I can to improve it.

All in all, I'm really not very pleased with this purchase, but will keep it to thrash around with. At most...this is a pawn shop guitar at best. I may have just gotten a bad one from the first batch sent to the US?

The quality from Mitchell really needs to be addressed. But judging by this one... I will not be buying another Mitchell product because of their lack of quality and workmanship. My next electric guitar purchase will diffidently not be a Mitchell.

If you like the look of this guitar as I did...and you don't want or have a lot of money to spend...by all means, buy one! Please don't let my lack of getting a bad one, keep you from buying one. Maybe yours will be better made than mine was?

Comments about Mitchell MM100 Mini Double Cutaway Electric Guitar:

My name is Mitchell so I had to have one. Bought the least expensive one for my collection. I was really pleased with the workmanship. Frets finished, set-up and intonation done, I want a more expensive one now that I see the quality of their product.

Comments about Mitchell MM100 Mini Double Cutaway Electric Guitar:

I have purchased two of these for my boys to learn guitar, and I am very impressed with the quality. The action is very good, which I expected to set both up but the action is right where it needs to be. The tuners don't hold up to serious bending, but for beginners it's great. The overall build quality is nice. The arch top body, neck, and fretboard are finished well and feel great. The hardware even looks good. The pickups are very surprising, they have a well balanced sound with clarity even in overdrive. These are the best sounding stock pickups I have heard in an entry level guitar. The short scale and compact body make this great for young people, but its a great little guitar to sit around on the couch to play.

Comments about Mitchell MM100 Mini Double Cutaway Electric Guitar:

I Cannot purchase a lap steel for this price. I Cannot purchase components for making a Lap Steel at this price. So I take the parts of the new guitar and create my own lap Steel, and re purpose the body and neck into novelty items and sell them to offset the cost of the self made lap steel. Kind of a "no brainer".

When new, the guitar was nicely made and sounded great. No issues.

Comments about Mitchell MM100 Mini Double Cutaway Electric Guitar:

I've accumulated a dozen and a half guitars since 1981, split between acoustics and electrics. I thought a mini electric would be a cool novelty and had looked at Squire Mini Strats over the years. I saw this Mitchell here on the MF site and was intrigued enough to buy a "Blood Red" one. Overall, I'm more than happy with this guitar and it has surpassed my expectations in many ways.

It is small and the red is a bit darker than it looks in the picture. It seems solidly built, with (very) low action and no fret buzz. The scale is about 2" shorter than my GLP Studio, but is only 1/16" narrower at the 12th fret, so the adjustment in playing is not as great as the overall size might indicate. The pick ups are full size and seem to have a lot of output. Playing through a Marshall MG30CFX and Orange Micro Dark, you can get pretty nice cleans with the guitar volume low. You can also get nice overdrive tones on the Orange with both the guitar and amp gain at 10 (Nigel notes, it doesn't have Les Paul sustain). The neck and fingerboard are straight and flat. The paint well done and the frets smooth. The knobs feel solid and the selector switch is a little stiff (it's new). The tuning knobs don't feel very robust, but keep the guitar in tune remarkably well. The only BAD thing about this guitar is the output jack noise. The jack is slanted upward which I assume is because of its diminutive size (and probably because most younger folks - part of the target market - will be sitting down when they are learning to play). The jack itself is "noisy." I play standing and it "crackles" when you move (breathe too hard). This is using the same braided cord as with the Les Paul. Looping the cable through the strap helps this a great deal, but doesn't eliminate the crackle.

This is a nice little guitar. It would be nice for a younger person learning to play or as a travel guitar - just couple it with a lunch box amp and pair of headphones. Maybe a project guitar?
