Comments about Rogue RD80 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I bought this guitar because of the price mainly. My intent was to get an inexpensive guitar for practice to take with me when i travel in my tent trailer, and sit out on the back porch or in my garage while working around the house(something i would not be upset if it got a scratch or two on) while keeping my more expensive stuff safe in the house. I was Surprised at how nice it sounds, the feel, and the way it stays in tune. It suits the purpose i bought if for and then some. It is a much better guitar than i was expecting.

Comments about Rogue RD80 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I have been playing over 40 years and teaching 30 of them. Considering the Rough is made in mass production in a different climate what my grandson received was playable and just needed tweaked by a good luthier. The frets bars protrude and cut my fingers - very sharp, the neck was twisted (climate change) needs tress rod adjustment, and the action needed work, i.e. high frets needed lowered and all needed rounded. It was only a minimal cost to have the set up completed. It now plays amazingly. I would take this to any coffee Shoppe' outing. I play a Breedlove and this would be a nice backup or campfire instrument. For the price a great guitar and the case is hard and well-constructed. I will definitely recommend this to others looking for a beginner or 2nd/backup guitar. Musician's Friend has done its research on this one.

          Ok guitar that sounds good.
Action is a little low. buzz on first frets. Adjusted truss rod and ok now.the only thing is the fret ends stick out are
Sharp. I will cover fretboard with tape and try to clean up the sharp frets.

Comments about Rogue RD80 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I have played guitar for 40+ years. A truckdriver friend who wants to learn approached me and asked if I could find a decent inexpensive guitar to start on. After having no luck with pawn shops in my area I turned to MF. I purchased this guitar after reading a review of it on a Gibson guitar forum. I purchased the RD80 and a set of new strings for under what he was willing to spend. I was surprised that the strings that were on it did not need replacing. They were not rusty or dead. I've been playing it hard for the last five days. The action is low, it has stayed in tune and the intonation is almost spot on! And the sound is not horrible. Having said that I will agree that it is nothing more than a beginners guitar. The only cons I found were sloppy gluing on the bracing and on one side of the fretboard the frets were a little sharp but not to the point where they are going to cut your hand. Bottom line: Once you get your callouses and your finger strength up to snuff it is a decent playable beginner guitar.

Comments about Rogue RD80 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I am starting my journey of being a guitar player, however, I wanted a guitar I knew would be with me for the long haul (well, at least, for the first couple of years). I did a fair amount of researching and ended up buying this guitar, as well as the Rogue RA-090. The RA-090 has better reviews, but I enjoy playing this guitar much more than my RA-090 Sunburst. I am very committed to playing and I wanted two guitars--one for the back of my trunk and one for my home. Initially, I thought I was going to keep the RA-090 at home, but the RD-80 is far superior. Out of the two, the RD-80 is a little bit better constructed, stays in tune day after day, practice after practice, as well as provides a clearer tone. Although, the RA-090 is a great guitar that I would highly recommend as well, the RD-80 is one of those guitars that beginning guitar players envision playing before they even picked up a guitar. It makes your playing--and learning--so much more easy. We all know learning the guitar can be a daunting process and this guitar makes it so much fun to do. I can barely put it down! I even saw a video review with an expert quitar player who was very impressed with its quality and sound, especially for the price point. If you're on the fence, I say, GO FOR IT! You definitely won't be disappointed!

Comments about Rogue RD80 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

Cheap, When I got it, the strings were rusted, the neck was discolored as if it had been stored in a bad environment. The guitar needed lots of adjustments to be playable, If you didn't know anything about setting a guitar up, or working on one, I wouldn't reccomend this one. Once it's set up it would be good to learn on, or to see if you really want to learn guitar. If you don't, you can still sell it & probably get back what you paid for it.

Comments about Rogue RD80 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

When I got it the strings were rusted, and kinked in places as if they had been wet & not wiped off, and had been stored & treated rough. there was real bad discoloration, all over the front of the neck. The sound hole had rough edges around it as if it was unfinished or had been roughed out but not sanded smooth yet. the neck was bowed & had to be adjusted. Once I did the repairs on it & put a new set of strings on it, and stretched them out, I found that it doesn't stay in tune very well, the tuner keys slip really bad. The tone is fair, but not very rich or warm. It will be good to learn chords or rhythm patterns on for a beginner, but as soon as they learn the basics, they need to buy a better guitar.

              Rogue RD80 Dread Acous Nat

              By Bilvis99

Comments about Rogue RD80 Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar:

I got this guitar for $59 when it first came out. No specs, just one photo. I took a chance and couldn't be happier. I spent about 20 minutes to detune the strings, pull the bridge insert and cut 1/16" off to lower the action, turned the truss rod a couple times to straighten the neck and this thing was good to go. The strings are a little skimpy but it sounds pretty good and for the price (even at $79) it is a great deal. You will not be disappointed! One piece spruce top so you are kinda at the mercy of the Gods on appearance.
