      Rogue

A great beginner's guitar built for ease of playability.

The Rocketeer RR100 electric guitar is Rogue's take on a classic design, built for ease of playability. It is constructed with a lightweight contoured double-cutaway paulownia body. The ultra-thin, comfortable maple neck makes it easy to fly up and down the 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. The humbucker/dual single-coil pickup configuration with a 5-way switch allows for a wide variety of tones. A 6-screw vintage tremolo lets you have tons of whammy bar fun, while the Rogue Rocketeer's die-cast tuners ensure solid tuning stability. Guitar case sold separately. Case sold separately.

Check the drop-down menu to the right to select colors and/or other options.

This is a great guitar for a beginner or someone who wants to experiment or use it as a base for a custom guitar. The neck is very nice and would cost more than the guitar if you had to buy it alone. The humbucker is pretty good, and the singles are okay. The factory left some dust under the covers in the back, but that was easily cleanable. I used the stock strings for awhile, but I can say it plays one heck of a lot better with some Ernie Ball Stalinless Steel Super Slinkys. There is a bit of noise when the tone adjustmnet is set all the way clockwise, but you can get new pots cheap or just don't peg the pot all the way.The tremolo is fun, but after I used it for awhile, I locked it down by tightening all the screws as much as possible at the neck end of the bracket, add a block in back, and then reset the intonation. This thing stays in tune just fine!I did have to adjust the intonation which arrived with no adjustment at all, and I did a slight tweak to the neck, but it was pretty good to start with. Instructions for setting the intonation are available in many places online. If you are handy, you can do the tuneup yourself. If not take it to a shop as many do with far more expensive guitars. If it is for someone who will not stick with it, you will save some dough. Someone who really wants to learn will find it adequate with some adjustment. And others will buy it for some useful and decent parts to build a custom axe. The volume and tone knobs are real nice and would run $10-$20 alone, and again the maple and roswewood neck is very nice. The frets were finished better than a comparable Fender I had and many others I've seen. The finish on the body is pretty nice, but I think I am going to strip mine and refinish it someday, or maybe redo the body altogether. The decription does not mention that it comes with a hookup cable. Mine was so noisy, I just threw it away. I had ordered one with the guitar not knowing it came with one. I'd order one anyway. Some people might think it is the guitar causing the line noise, when it is in fact, the cable. Also, get a Fender Mustang I if you don't have a decent amp. It is well worth it and makes this guitar sound really good; much better than the 10W or 15W units that come in guitar packs for just a little more money. There is little else that comes in packs that's worth it which the possible exception of a stand and picks, which should not be a real consideration. You can get better tuners and straps if you just do some research.I think I read somewhere that a pro band buys lots of these to smash during their act. That also means they use them to play their songs.

This guitar plays well and stays in pretty good tune without a clamping system for the price. Complaint is that the color shown is not in the same universe that it came in! (purple burst) You can barely see a color at all, and when you do (in bright light) it is like a wine red. Somebody must have had some spare time with Photoshop. That is the main reason I bought it. If you are not concerned with color I would definitly recomend it for the $$

Comments about Rogue RR100 Rocketeer Electric Guitar:

I have been a semi-professional drummer for two decades,so I know a little bit about instruments and I play some guitar too. I bought this guitar for my 12 year old son who started his first band. I was ready to put some work on this guitar when it arrived, but I was amazed that the guitar was ready to go right out of the box. It has a great sound and great feel, it is a solid instrument that will last a long time. We got the blue one and it ahs a beatufil finish and glow. If you are reading this you are probably looking for a starter guitar, and that is what this is. But a great starter guitar at that. You can't go wrong buying this guitar. And if you wait for a sale, like we did, you will get it for 2/3 of the price. My son had the option to ask for a big brand guitar (Gibson flying V was his first choice) for Christmas, but decided to hold on to his Rocketeer for a little while longer.

I like to buy guitars that are basically good quality but need a little work, filed some rough fret ends,. added some new strings ,I like the 100% nickel ones the action at the nut was too high, filed the nut grooves down used a feeler guage so I wouldn't go down too far, lowered the action,a little truss rod adjustment, and now I have a great playing guitar .another thing I like about this guitar is I think it is really a nice looking guitar the black and chrome is very nice and I like the headstock, if it holds up I got a great deal.

I've purchased several of these guitars over the years.I have various artists sign them, then donate them to charity auctions.Just in case a buyer decides to play it instead of displaying it,the guitar will hold it's own in that instance.

This is not a high end guitar so don't expect one. But what it is, is a solid playable instrument with a little work. Mine was playable out of the box. New strings, neck adjust, and lowered the pick ups. Stays in tune and that's a plus in its self.

Rogue Rocketeer. I was hoping for a light weight cheap guitar but playable, and I got it. The guitar looks like it's made from cheap guitar parts, but parts well-made and well put together. It plays well enough but I only tied it on a little amp. It looks easily modifiable. I got a wammy bar, two allen wenches, and a cord with the guitar. I had it only an hour when I wrote the review. [I have neuroapthy on the left hand but carpal tunnel on both hands, and I plan to brag about my new guitar online. This guitar I will keep for a long time.]

Comments about Rogue RR100 Rocketeer Electric Guitar:

My 10 yr old son bought this with some birthday money. We tried out a couple of kid sized strats in stores which were ok, but nothing special. So decided to give this a go since it was on sale. What a great decision! Though we screwed up on ordering and for some reason thought it was a 7/8 size, we are keeping it. It's a little big for him but he will grow into it quickly. I have played 30 yrs and have mostly owned a 60s Gibson LP and a 90s Squire strat. This thing has MUCH higher gain output than either! You'll get some fuzz tone even without an effects pedal. This is excellent for two handed tapping that normally sounds weak on my Squire strat and has this very good sustain. Fun! Easily gives an early dirty Van Halen sound. Downside is there is a lot of electronic hum, even with the 'humbucker' at the bridge. We have a Roland multieffects which filters this out no problem, but straight into the amp you will get noise unless you are touching the strings. I fixed this on my Gibson awhile back by grounding to the metal pots, so may have to open this on up and look around. Good access panel on the back for electronics. Very poor taper on the volume, it is not subtle, but has a unique character to quickly go from quiet to growl fast. Durability of electronics is unknown but for the price it feels good. 5 position switch gives good variety in tones, somewhat strat-like but less distinguishable. Tone knob very clean at mid to full treble, pretty muddy on low end.
Most surprising was strings, neck and overall setup was perfect straight out of the box. All I did was stretch and tune the original strings once and played 3 hours straight with my son. Tuning was rock solid and didn't need to retune. Factory did a very nice job on that. Finish is very good on the body. The neck is ok. The was perfectly straight with string height set perfectly for no buzz. The neck is a satin finish I don't love but again, value is great. 'Rosewood' fretboard is glued onto the whitewood and is a little dry, but you can add lemon oil to help (I haven't yet). I am not changing the strings yet, as they were decent enough. Love the body color redburst. Actual guitar did not match the website photo. Our redburst looked more like the blue and black photos without the white pickguard. But my son is ok with that. Any adult or kid player could love this guitar. Even as a main player. Put some tape over the logo and your audience won't care.

After over 50 years of straining at the strings I am always being asked..."What is a good "Cheap" guitar? I wondered if there was a good, cheap guitar to be found. I have been looking for quite some time. I have played and examined many different brands and models. Most cheap,(very inexpensive) guitars are...in a word...horrible! All the usual stuff. They buzz, poor pick-ups, terrible necks, stripped screws, broken switches, action a monkey couldn't play, tuning gears that won't stay close...even for a jazz band, finish that is so scratched and marred it looks like it was tossed down a flight of stairs, but you get my point...horrible. UNTILL I found the Rogue RR 100 Rocketeer. Don't get me wrong..this is a very inexpensive electric guitar BUT it has potential.
I read the reviews so I decided to give it a try. It arrived unbroken but the Packing left MUCH to be desired.(I was lucky it arrived in one piece.)After a quick exam I saw there was a LOT of setting up to do. The body had a few scratches and flaws where the finish was rubbed off but... it's a cheap guitar. The biggest problem was the screws holding the bridge down were not screwed in all the way! With that fixed I went on to check neck curvature (the truss rod). The frets needed dressing. Set the intonation, set the bridge and pick-up height. Check for fret buzz, attached the tremolo arm, plugged it in and let 'er rip! WOW not bad. Not what I would use live on Austin City Limits but not bad. An EXCELLENT axe for a beginner or back-up for someone with a few calluses earned over the years.
IT WILL NEED A COMPLETE SET-UP. But once that is done your on your way to rock city, or where ever your headed. The guitar is cheap enough to get a pro set-up (please don't try this if you don't know what your doing. It's worth it to let a pro do it.) and still have some bread for strings, a tuner,(it's amazing how much better a guitar sounds when it is in tune.) and some lessons!
As Rocky would say...Go for it!!!

I bought the RR100 on the "Stupid deal of the day".
It's the best deal I have ever made on anything, period.Yes,this guitar is not finished off, with the quality of a higher priced modal, but it plays'incredibly, for a cheap guitar.I have light gauge strings' on mine and I can bend notes' and gain speed, like never before.I don't use the whammy, because I really don't need to.I can pretty much get what I want, just by playing straight-out!
I have an Epiphone G-400 and a Madeira-strat-copy and honestly, this little guitar out-shines both of them!I have been able to pick-up more lead-licks' on this guitar, than the others' and you can get around on the neck like lightening!I've been playing for some years' now and I would recommend this guitar to anyone!I know the better players' will scoff, but this guitar is really quite astonishing.I don't see how they can build something that plays' this well, right out of the box,for so little money.I am beginning to think that this is one of those guitars'that, down the road people will say,"I wish I had bought ten of them, back then"!!!!!!Honest,No Jive!
The style I like to play is somewhere in the genre of "Jimi Hendrix/Stevie Ray Vaughn" and this guitar gets' me there, with ease!Nice tone, too. If it broke, the only thing that I would do different,is get the"blue"one instead of"Black"
                            :)
