This is a great guitar for a beginner or someone who wants to experiment or use it as a base for a custom guitar. The neck is very nice and would cost more than the guitar if you had to buy it alone. The humbucker is pretty good, and the singles are okay. The factory left some dust under the covers in the back, but that was easily cleanable. I used the stock strings for awhile, but I can say it plays one heck of a lot better with some Ernie Ball Stalinless Steel Super Slinkys. There is a bit of noise when the tone adjustmnet is set all the way clockwise, but you can get new pots cheap or just don't peg the pot all the way.The tremolo is fun, but after I used it for awhile, I locked it down by tightening all the screws as much as possible at the neck end of the bracket, add a block in back, and then reset the intonation. This thing stays in tune just fine!I did have to adjust the intonation which arrived with no adjustment at all, and I did a slight tweak to the neck, but it was pretty good to start with. Instructions for setting the intonation are available in many places online. If you are handy, you can do the tuneup yourself. If not take it to a shop as many do with far more expensive guitars. If it is for someone who will not stick with it, you will save some dough. Someone who really wants to learn will find it adequate with some adjustment. And others will buy it for some useful and decent parts to build a custom axe. The volume and tone knobs are real nice and would run $10-$20 alone, and again the maple and roswewood neck is very nice. The frets were finished better than a comparable Fender I had and many others I've seen. The finish on the body is pretty nice, but I think I am going to strip mine and refinish it someday, or maybe redo the body altogether. The decription does not mention that it comes with a hookup cable. Mine was so noisy, I just threw it away. I had ordered one with the guitar not knowing it came with one. I'd order one anyway. Some people might think it is the guitar causing the line noise, when it is in fact, the cable. Also, get a Fender Mustang I if you don't have a decent amp. It is well worth it and makes this guitar sound really good; much better than the 10W or 15W units that come in guitar packs for just a little more money. There is little else that comes in packs that's worth it which the possible exception of a stand and picks, which should not be a real consideration. You can get better tuners and straps if you just do some research.I think I read somewhere that a pro band buys lots of these to smash during their act. That also means they use them to play their songs.

Great little guitar for the price

I normally play acoustic/electric but needed an electric for a few new songs.

Comments about Rogue RR100 Rocketeer Electric Guitar:

I bought the RR100 on the "Stupid deal of the day".
It's the best deal I have ever made on anything, period.Yes,this guitar is not finished off, with the quality of a higher priced modal, but it plays'incredibly, for a cheap guitar.I have light gauge strings' on mine and I can bend notes' and gain speed, like never before.I don't use the whammy, because I really don't need to.I can pretty much get what I want, just by playing straight-out!
I have an Epiphone G-400 and a Madeira-strat-copy and honestly, this little guitar out-shines both of them!I have been able to pick-up more lead-licks' on this guitar, than the others' and you can get around on the neck like lightening!I've been playing for some years' now and I would recommend this guitar to anyone!I know the better players' will scoff, but this guitar is really quite astonishing.I don't see how they can build something that plays' this well, right out of the box,for so little money.I am beginning to think that this is one of those guitars'that, down the road people will say,"I wish I had bought ten of them, back then"!!!!!!Honest,No Jive!
The style I like to play is somewhere in the genre of "Jimi Hendrix/Stevie Ray Vaughn" and this guitar gets' me there, with ease!Nice tone, too. If it broke, the only thing that I would do different,is get the"blue"one instead of"Black"
:)

this guitar is okay for the price, but the tremolo is crap. plus, 3 of the strings have already broken, and the second fret is unplayable for me after just 3 weeks of playing. buy it only if you're out of money...

Comments about Rogue RR100 Rocketeer Electric Guitar:

Factoring in the price, this guitar is amazing.

However, if you have $1000 to drop on a guitar, or are a guitar snob... get an American Strat or something!

This is not a $1000 guitar!!! don't expect it to be.
A somewhat gimpy trem, all sorts of coils, and enough frets to keep most guitarists happy. All you really need for rocking out.
cheap, cheap, cheap... but the price is right.

The trem sux (as mentioned above). I recommend taking off the bar, and locking it altogether... even more expensive trems have trouble with tuning issues...

Don't fret about the trem though, come on... it's cheap!! and it sounds GREAT overall (minus the wonky off tune notes you'll get if you don't do something about the trem). Fret about the frets... the frets needed to be filed a bit on the guitar I purchased for a student of mine, the neck was literally not safe to shred upon...
For the price, this guitar seriously cannot be beat (low end, entry level, pre-rock-star, backupidontcareaboutitbutitsoundsnice).

At this price, you could rock out a gig and set it on fire at the end... and you'll sound very good during the gig too!

Comments about Rogue RR100 Rocketeer Electric Guitar:

My only real complaint is I ordered the guitar in blue and it came in black. It's too much of a hassle to return it just for the color. If I had ordered a guitar and gotten an oboe then that would be different.

Comments about Rogue RR100 Rocketeer Electric Guitar:

Let me start by saying that over the years I have owned around 100 solid body electric guitars. I built several of these from scratch. I have also bought some lower end guitars and heavily modified them (change pickups, tuners, pots, and do some fretwork ect.) in order to get a great playing instrument. I bought this on a whim, I really wasn't looking for another guitar. MF had it on sale and based on reviews here I figured it would be good for parts if nothing else. Well, this guitar isn't going to be parted out! It played great out if the box (after tuning of course). No truss rod adjustment needed, the action was excellent, intonation was spot on, the frets don't have any sharp edges, the pickups sound really good, the tuners turn smoothly, the controls work as they should, and the finish is flawless! Speaking of the finish, I ordered the blue one (it was the one on sale) but I received the red one. That is fine with me as I preferred the red anyway, and only ordered the blue because the red one wasn't on sale. Summing up, I am very pleased with this purchase. Money well spent!

Comments about Rogue RR100 Rocketeer Electric Guitar:

After over 50 years of straining at the strings I am always being asked..."What is a good "Cheap" guitar? I wondered if there was a good, cheap guitar to be found. I have been looking for quite some time. I have played and examined many different brands and models. Most cheap,(very inexpensive) guitars are...in a word...horrible! All the usual stuff. They buzz, poor pick-ups, terrible necks, stripped screws, broken switches, action a monkey couldn't play, tuning gears that won't stay close...even for a jazz band, finish that is so scratched and marred it looks like it was tossed down a flight of stairs, but you get my point...horrible. UNTILL I found the Rogue RR 100 Rocketeer. Don't get me wrong..this is a very inexpensive electric guitar BUT it has potential.
I read the reviews so I decided to give it a try. It arrived unbroken but the Packing left MUCH to be desired.(I was lucky it arrived in one piece.)After a quick exam I saw there was a LOT of setting up to do. The body had a few scratches and flaws where the finish was rubbed off but... it's a cheap guitar. The biggest problem was the screws holding the bridge down were not screwed in all the way! With that fixed I went on to check neck curvature (the truss rod). The frets needed dressing. Set the intonation, set the bridge and pick-up height. Check for fret buzz, attached the tremolo arm, plugged it in and let 'er rip! WOW not bad. Not what I would use live on Austin City Limits but not bad. An EXCELLENT axe for a beginner or back-up for someone with a few calluses earned over the years.
IT WILL NEED A COMPLETE SET-UP. But once that is done your on your way to rock city, or where ever your headed. The guitar is cheap enough to get a pro set-up (please don't try this if you don't know what your doing. It's worth it to let a pro do it.) and still have some bread for strings, a tuner,(it's amazing how much better a guitar sounds when it is in tune.) and some lessons!
As Rocky would say...Go for it!!!

Comments about Rogue RR100 Rocketeer Electric Guitar:

Despite all the positive reviews, I had very low expectations for this guitar. The reviews were right. It's a very nice instrument at an unbelievable price.

I had only two issues, both minor. One was a small chip where the neck meets the body, but it isn't noticeable at all, so I don't care. The other was with the frets, which as others have pointed out, were in serious need of deburring. Doing that took only a few minutes with a Dremel. A flat file would have worked just as well.

The action is nice and I love the tone. I don't see any problems with the tuners, pickups, or volume and tone controls. All in all the guitar feels solid. I'm greatly enjoying playing it, and am very happy with the purchase. My thanks to all the reviewers who sang its praises. They steered me right.

This guitar plays well and stays in pretty good tune without a clamping system for the price. Complaint is that the color shown is not in the same universe that it came in! (purple burst) You can barely see a color at all, and when you do (in bright light) it is like a wine red. Somebody must have had some spare time with Photoshop. That is the main reason I bought it. If you are not concerned with color I would definitly recomend it for the $$

This is not a high end guitar so don't expect one. But what it is, is a solid playable instrument with a little work. Mine was playable out of the box. New strings, neck adjust, and lowered the pick ups. Stays in tune and that's a plus in its self.

Comments about Rogue RR100 Rocketeer Electric Guitar:

My 10 yr old son bought this with some birthday money. We tried out a couple of kid sized strats in stores which were ok, but nothing special. So decided to give this a go since it was on sale. What a great decision! Though we screwed up on ordering and for some reason thought it was a 7/8 size, we are keeping it. It's a little big for him but he will grow into it quickly. I have played 30 yrs and have mostly owned a 60s Gibson LP and a 90s Squire strat. This thing has MUCH higher gain output than either! You'll get some fuzz tone even without an effects pedal. This is excellent for two handed tapping that normally sounds weak on my Squire strat and has this very good sustain. Fun! Easily gives an early dirty Van Halen sound. Downside is there is a lot of electronic hum, even with the 'humbucker' at the bridge. We have a Roland multieffects which filters this out no problem, but straight into the amp you will get noise unless you are touching the strings. I fixed this on my Gibson awhile back by grounding to the metal pots, so may have to open this on up and look around. Good access panel on the back for electronics. Very poor taper on the volume, it is not subtle, but has a unique character to quickly go from quiet to growl fast. Durability of electronics is unknown but for the price it feels good. 5 position switch gives good variety in tones, somewhat strat-like but less distinguishable. Tone knob very clean at mid to full treble, pretty muddy on low end.
Most surprising was strings, neck and overall setup was perfect straight out of the box. All I did was stretch and tune the original strings once and played 3 hours straight with my son. Tuning was rock solid and didn't need to retune. Factory did a very nice job on that. Finish is very good on the body. The neck is ok. The was perfectly straight with string height set perfectly for no buzz. The neck is a satin finish I don't love but again, value is great. 'Rosewood' fretboard is glued onto the whitewood and is a little dry, but you can add lemon oil to help (I haven't yet). I am not changing the strings yet, as they were decent enough. Love the body color redburst. Actual guitar did not match the website photo. Our redburst looked more like the blue and black photos without the white pickguard. But my son is ok with that. Any adult or kid player could love this guitar. Even as a main player. Put some tape over the logo and your audience won't care.

Good guitar for the price. Like any guitar you
buy , it need fine tuning and better strings.
But after all that it plays and sounds good.
I got the blue and it has a good finish.
Put some Gibson 10's strings on mine.
                      I have no regrets.

First off for the price this is a no brainer. This guitar is built very well, electronics may not be the top of the line, but they sound good. I got a blue one and under certain light it has a purple tint to it which is very awesome. It all works! Nothing more you can say.

Comments about Rogue RR100 Rocketeer Electric Guitar:

This is a fantastic guitar. I plugged this guitar into my amp and compared it to my other electrics (EPH Les Paul Jr, Stratocaster, Telecaster) and only my Telecaster sounded better. And that telecaster has some special pickups so for just being stock, this Rogue competes.

Forget about brand and the amount you're paying, this guitar is legit. The finish on the guitar is nice, the setup out of the box was on point as was the intonation.

This guitar is a steal. I definitely would recommend this to anyone.

Comments about Rogue RR100 Rocketeer Electric Guitar:

When I first started playing, inexpensive guitars were basically cheaply made and difficult to play. Today, that is not always true. This guitar was a surprise, as it is pretty nicely made for the price. The finish was well done with no flaws that I could find.(I got the blue one, which is actually more of a dark purple color, which is OK with me). The neck has a nice feel, it reminds me of a Hagstrom II that I had years ago. I did not have to adjust the neck. I understand not everyone has had this problem with these models, but the one I received had very sharp fret ends that had to be filed. Once that was done, the neck is fine.
The electronics are OK, and the range of tones are pretty good with the 5 position switch and tone control. I have not changed the strings yet, they are OK for now. The tuner screws needed to be tightened up a bit, after playing it for a few days, it seems to hold a tune pretty well. The only other thing that needed to be addressed was a loose input jack.
While not a Strat, this guitar is very good for the price, even more so if you get one while on sale. If you don't mind dealing with a couple of potential issues such as the sharp frets, this guitar is a worthy addition to your collection.

Comments about Rogue RR100 Rocketeer Electric Guitar:

I bought this on sale here at Musicians Friend to tinker with as I've built and rebuilt many guitars. I was surprised at how decent this guitar was for the amount of money spent. It needed a full set up, though the one I got had a perfectly straight neck, hence no truss rod adjusting. Neck is very dry like a few reviewers have mentioned, so I will treat the rosewood with Murphy oil. Though the frets were not sharp at the edges at all (surprise). I got the blue body and the color is NOT as pictured - it is a deep sapphire blue (almost black) - and the finish is good. I will replace the hummer with either a Bill Lawrence 500, or a Dragon Fire PHAT screamer. Also, the tuners seem stiff - will most likely replace with Grover tuners.
