Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Hellraiser C-7 FR 7-String Electric Guitar:
This is my first seven string guitar and I must say I am not disappointed. I originally bought an Ibanez arz307, but I was not impressed at all by the quality of craftsmanship and pickups.
I plan on swapping out the EMG 707 in the bridge for an EMG 81-7 or a Seymour Duncan Blackout-7. The 707s sounds just fine, but if you're playing through a Dual Rectifier, you may feel like the low end is a bit overbearing.
My only complaint about this guitar is that the finish on the neck is the same as the rest of the guitar. It looks great, but it makes the neck feel very sticky. This is an easy fix though (If you're ok with trying it). I lightly rubbed some 4/0 steel wool on the neck finish to remove the shine and make it very smooth. It only takes off a thin layer of clear coat and it can be easily buffed back out with car polish if you want the original shine again.
All in all, I love this guitar. The neck was not hard to get used to. After a couple of days of playing, I actually prefer it over my Gibson. Now 6 strings just feel like miniature guitars.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Hellraiser C-7 FR 7-String Electric Guitar:
The quality of this guitar is top notch, and the parts (pickups, neck wood, body wood etc) are well chosen, making this a great all-round guitar with a progressive-metal inclination.
I will list the factors that were most relevant in picking this guitar over others in the 7-string department.
1. The bridge is great, don't worry about it being made in South Korea. Fully functional, smooth, stable, strong, well-built, great sustain. Swapping it for an Original Floyd Rose is however still an option.
2. The pickups are moderate output - if you want crazy high output, get the Blackjack. The single tone sound is much better than I expected - but thinner and more "lonely" sounding than my maple neck Standard Stratocaster. I really like the humbucking sound. You can get the pickups in parallel in the 'mid' position and individually set single-coil or double-coil sound at the same time.
3. Active pickups, hope you know what you are getting into. You can't expect to be lazy with these pickups. Work with the volume, tone controls, and the equalizer on your pedal/amp, and you can shape the naturally flat(ter) response of these pickups to something that works for the moment.
4. You'll be fine with standard tuning, BUT this guitar is MADE for drop A tuning. Seriously. The neck scale is long, so that helps; plus you can then reduce the tremolo resistance a bit.
5. The set 3 piece neck, mahogany body combined with the EMG 707 give a great sound.
6. You want the SGR-1C hardshell case for this. Any other case will probably not be a snug fit, or not fit at all.
7. The Schecter website (particularly the FAQ page) has lots of interesting information for Diamond series guitars that you should check out before making a decision.
8. It looks amazing. But you can see that.
9. The battery compartment is exactly big enough for ONE 9V battery. If you are thinking of an 18V mod, you'll have to do some work... For these particular pickups, I'd say - not really needed.
10. Why doesn't anyone talk about the clean sound of this thing? Remember point 3 and you can great clean tones - both humbucking and single-coil. You may have to work harder for some tones, and some tones will be elusive - but you can't have EVERYTHING in the same guitar.
It's a heavy guitar, and feels solid and sturdy. Nice rugged polyester finish. The Black Cherry option works REALLY well. Definitely a winner in this price range.

Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Hellraiser C-7 FR 7-String Electric Guitar:
I've been playing this guitar for about 2 weeks now and it feels amazing. The frets are nice and big so when your hitting those high notes you're not struggling to keep your fingers in the right position. The spacing of the strings are great too. The sound that comes out of this beast is absolutely wonderful. I run my guitar through my POD Studio UX2 with POD Farm and it comes it very clean.
Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Hellraiser C-7 FR 7-String Electric Guitar:
An amazing 7 string guitar that is very versitile and can be used for almost any style of music. It is well worth its price and will last you for a very long time. You will not be dissapointed!!! Buy it today!!!
This guitar has all the features you could ask for in a 7 string guitar. It has a beautiful floyd rose bridge, has a ton of tonal versatility with the EMG 707's as you can easily switch them to single coil pickups via volume knobs. I would prefer the factory strings to be a thicker gauge for drop tunings, but these worked fine. The Locking nut is fantasic, and i can leave my guitar sit for a month and come back and still have it in perfect tuning.
This guitar has suprisingly good quality for a brand that is not generally known for it. You get a harsh, nasty tone from it on the low end with distortion, and sharp, cutting solos. Athough, this guitar, regardless of the 7th string is very versitile and sounds great with blues, jazz, country, ect. It delivers amazing tone all around. It came in perfect condition and i made a few personal modifacations, but nothing major. Overall, amazing quality: 10/10
I belive that this guitar is worth around what it is priced as on musicainsfriend.com, however because i live in canada, it cost a load of extra money to ship it up here. But given its reliablity, and durability, it was well worth the price. IT was also shipped very fast too.
Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Hellraiser C-7 FR 7-String Electric Guitar:
It's beautiful, plays wonderfully, and is set-up before shipping, so no need to take it to pro. What more can you ask for?
Push-pull coil tap, Oiginal Floyd Rose Trem, 24 frets, humongous frets (a little intimidating at first, but you will get used to it), EMG pickups for us metal heads (stay as far away as possible if you play Jazz/blues, you will hate it). All-in-all, an insanely good guitar.
The quality of the neck is "meh", I prefer the smoothness of Ebony fretboards but this is fine. Other than that, this guitar is top-notch quality.
Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Hellraiser C-7 FR 7-String Electric Guitar:
Overall, this baby is a beautiful axe that can really get any tone you need out of it. My band plays progressive metal, what with the odd meters and key changes and such, mostly sounding like Opeth/Dream Theater/Seventh Wonder. However, we do have a couple of songs that sound like a soft Skillet song - think Forgiven or A Little More - and all of the electric guitar parts were recorded with this guitar. I also play in 3 separate worship bands, and worship's genre of music can range from classical music to modern rock to blues to jazz to pretty much anything you can think of - one of the worship bands I play in has a full-blown orchestra, and this guitar is a BEAUTIFUL instrument there, too! Whether it's a sweet breakdown, a catchy lead guitar lick, a high-gain solo, a clean passage, a suspenseful bridge, or a straight-up death metal riff, this guitar can, and will, do the trick.
This guitar has brilliant features in that it has its seventh string, and the Floyd Rose tremolo bar. There are awesome and brutal tones that emerge when you drop tune it to A-E-A-D-G-B-E - you can really get some sick tones out of it. My only complaint is the amount of pickup control. Despite its 2 volume/1 tone control knobs, where the volume controls can snap up and down for extra awesomeness, it really needs either another pickup like the Stratocaster, or another tone control like the Les Paul and most other Gibson/Epiphone models. While you can get a pretty wide range of sounds out of its two pickups, my Epiphone Les Paul Studio can get more because of the extra tone control. However, it's a small price to pay, considering the seventh string and the Floyd Rose system.
This instrument is a GREAT axe. I've had it for about 14 months and I've never performed without it, except for one time when a string broke on it 5 minutes before we started playing. It's kind of odd to get such a good-quality instrument from Schecter, as they're nowhere near PRS or even Gibson quality. However, in this price range, this is easily the best guitar you can buy. Ibanez 7-strings just don't make the cut.
While it is a great guitar, I don't think it's worth one grand. I love this instrument to death, but, were I the person to price it, I would've made it between $700-$800. Great guitar, but the price is a little high.
Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Hellraiser C-7 FR 7-String Electric Guitar:
Perhaps that nicest guitar i've played, this was my first "over a grand" guitar purchase and it was pretty much by accident, i was at a guitar shop, checking stuff out, *not planning on buying anything*, and the sales person brought me this... so i bought it.NOTE: had never even played/considered a 7-stringThe neck is perfect width, and nice and smooth, the jumbo frets are handy as well, the EMGs are sound excellent for very low tuning (Gb is as low as i've gone *Djent-Djent*)with sick distortion, but it also has an amazing smooth clean sound. as everyone else has said, pictues dont do the guitar justice, it is beautiful.only reason i gave featurs 4.5 is cuz the cutaway could be just a little further...but it is sick for riffing, shredding, clean tones, and low drop tunings *Djent-Djent*Buy it! you wont be dissapointed /m/
Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Hellraiser C-7 FR 7-String Electric Guitar:
First off, this thing is jaw dropping. The Black Cherry is beautiful. The hardware looks like jewelry. It sounds great. The 707s deliver on the low end. Clean tones are great and the distorted tones are nasty. The neck pickup is delicious. Single coil mode is really cool, but there's a noticeable volume drop.I have smallish hands, so the neck was kind of cumbersome at first, but I got the hang of it. That's expected for a 7-string with a 26.5" scale. I love the long scale length, it makes playing on the higher frets a breeze (thick fingers). The neck is a little thicker than I'm used to, but it's not that bad. The heel is sculpted back a lot, which is awesome. Playing is super smooth. My only complaint on comfort is that the cutaway isn't very deep, so you DO have to reach over some wood to get up to the 23rd and 24th frets. Not terrible, but it does have to happen.I love the Floyd Rose. It stays in tune beautifully. It's a great guitar. Make sure you play it first, though.
Comments about Schecter Guitar Research Hellraiser C-7 FR 7-String Electric Guitar:
This guitar is amazing, and the neck is barely thicker than a 6 string, making it super easy to get used to, it only took me about 10 minutes to get used to. The pickups pick up the 7th string amazingly, without any buzz, and very clearly, Make no mistake, this guitar is great for clean settings, and has a beautiful tone, it is not just limited to metal and distortion. This guitar also doesn't go out of tune, at all, not even with huge dives on the floyd rose. and also along those lines, the floyd rose is not threaded, so turning the wammy bar around and around clockwise will not strip the threads, and ruin the floyd rose. The 24 frets have are easily acessed, and sound great. The guitar is also beautiful, the images do not do the guitar justice, it is a piece of art. BUY IT!!! it is well worth it
