OVERVIEW

A jaw-dropping groove tool!

The Korg KP2 KAOSS Pad Digital Effect/Controller takes off where its predecessor the KP1 left off. Using finger movements, you control dozens of effects and their parameters. Just glide across the pad top to bottom, side to side, or tap on it to create changes in your mix with levels of complexity that are impossible with other gear. The KP2 is packed with essential effects such as filters, delays, reverb, and flanging along with killer DJ effects including isolator, slicer, and auto panning. Effects are selected with a knob and eight of them can be assigned to buttons.

A Hold switch freezes effects in their current position so they're easily captured or rhythmically layered by drumming on the pad. You also get 15 super synth and vocoder sounds plus 20BPM effects that can be auto synced, tapped in, manually set, or run via MIDI. Eight new BPM patterns are triggered from the touch pad for perfectly synced rhythm and bass synth patterns. The KP2 samples up to 12 seconds at 44.1kHz; records and transforms pad movements; and includes phono, line, and MIDI connectors. Includes power adapter.

I got the Kaosspad2 about 3 months ago and have had time to really use this thing to its fullest potential and I have to say that its a great tool for just about anyone. You can run just about any sort of musical, and non-musical device through it, and the array of effects offered are great. The only really gripes I have about it is that it only has 6 seconds of sampling time, and that you can't use more than 1 effect at the same time. Also, this thing seems kinda fragile, however thats not a big deal. Overall, the sound quality this thing produces is great and there is no way that this thing isn't going to help you achieve whatever sound is in your head. A little steap in the price range, but you are essentially buying a multi effects unit, sampler, and controller...and it has a crazy screen that is sweet to stare at when you are stoned. All around good product. I use it primarily with my MicroKorg, I-pod for samples, and guitars and vocals and whatever the hell else I want.

I bought this product because I was told it is one of the best vocal effects processors for the money. However there are only a few actual useable vocal effects, the rest seem to just make loud irritating sounds. Save up your money kids and buy something that is worth while.

Controlled Kaoss

By 30FathomDave

from Glendale, AZ

I checked into the Kaoss pad after seeing Mike Patton (Fantomas, Mr. Bungle, Faith No More) use one at a recent Fantomas show. I normally loathe the sound of digital multi-effects processors, but the KP2 has definitely raised the bar. The quality of the effects are outstanding and the controls couldn't be easier: just move your finger around the touch pad to control the various paremeters, hit the hold button if you want the effect to stay the same (or hold your finger in one place if you'd prefer), or continue moving your finger if you want the effect to shift. It really is that simple. I'm in a rock band, but I do a lot of experimental and industrial stuff on my own- and the KP2 is the perfect device for creating walls of sound all by yourself. I've used the KP2 on just about everything I own (guitars, bass, keys, vocals, circuit bent toys, a Theremin, etc). It lends itself best to vocals in my opinion, but sounds great with just about anything. It's built like a tank and is the type of tool I could see myself using for many years to come. I only have a couple gripes with the KP2: First and foremost, the sampling function could be better. Once you shut the unit off, you lose your sample. Would it have been that hard to add a small memory to allow the user to save a sample (which would be very handy for live applications)? Secondly, you can only use one effect at a time. It would have been nice to be able to use, say, a delay, in addition to some of the other effects... but oh well, I've got plenty of pedals to cover those situations. Luckily for Korg and us, the KP2's pros far outweigh its cons. The Kaoss Pad KP2 is a great product that will benefit just about any musician, regarless of genre. I highly recommend checking it out.

quality for cheap

let me start off saying that i am an electronics moron... anything digital (with lots of buttons and dials) scares me. i prefer, and mostly use, analog effects/equipment. i couldn't believe how easy it was to hook this thing up and immediately start using it. aside from dialing in the effects, and using the 'sample' buttons, it is really more like playing an actual instrument than using an effects process b/c it is all controlled by running your fingers accross the pad, giving an almost limitless amount of effect possibilities. i've used it with my bass, guitar, vocals and just as a cool effects tool. this thing will be a part of my set up for a long time.

Love this box!!!

I love the fact that this item is just so user friendly. It's hours of fun even before you load in a sample to mess with...the pre-loaded synth and BPM pattern sounds are that cool. I've read a lot of stuff about how these things break, but all I have to say is that you just need some common sense with electronic equipment when you use this. Use a little TLC...the touch pad is super-responsive to even the slightest touch, so you don't need to pound it. The effects are so good I've even run a guitar through it already using some RCA adapters. Plug in and enjoy.

KP2 is a saviour.

By Neutralikai

from Burlington ON

Lightweight, relatively small, and giving 'interactive' a whole new meaning, the Kaoss Pad 2 is the ultimate tool for those wishing to enhance whatever music they are involved in. I've successfully used it in rock, jazz and typical dance/trance/techno situations. TRY IT OUT.

WHAT?!

By mooneyes

Absolutely brilliant! Endless sonic possibilities. Mind blowing synths. Don't be fooled, it isn't just for dj's. As soon as my friends and I started twiddling with it, we decided you could play an entire show just from this bit. BUY IT

Worth every cent*

By IndustriaLord

from Sidney, NE

I purchased The Kaoss Pad this weekend and had never seen it before. I was going to get a drum machine and was quickly talked into buying this. To tell you the truth, I didn't even try it out before I bought it as everyone who walked by me said it was "worth every cent" while others I could see drool all over themselves wishing they were the ones buying it. I've had it about 48 hrs and already have the tracks layed for two new songs for my next album. Thanks KORG!!

The Kaoss Pad Is My Lover

I got this for a great deal and it was the best $$ I've ever spent! I have a mic and a Technic 1210 running through it and it's just plain fun. The only thing I complain about is how hard it is to duplicate the same effect, but if you're close who'll notice?

A GODSEND

By Fun Times

This is the granddaddy of all effects machines. It does not have everything I would like to have, but it still is one of the best products on the market. If you want to take your music to the next level, this is your ticket. Preferably, I would have liked it to have some of the features of the KM2 Kaoss Mixer, like more choices for distortion and EQ, but it still is extremely exciting.
