OVERVIEW

The Theremin returns with modern playability.

The Theremini is a re-imagination of one of the oldest electronic musical instrument in history and Bob Moog's first love - the Theremin. Its design fuses the experience of performing with an instrument you don't actually touch, with a powerful sound engine derived from Moog's award-winning synthesizer, Animoog. The Theremini guarantees immediate success to any player at any skill level, while providing new ways to experiment with music, education, and gestural control.

Assistive pitch quantization allows each player to adjust the instrument's level of playing difficulty. At the maximum position, the Theremini will play every note in a selected scale perfectly, making it impossible to play a wrong note. As this control is decreased, more expressive control of pitch and vibrato becomes possible. When set to minimum, the Theremini will perform as a traditional Theremin - the analog heterodyning oscillator controls pitch and there is absolutely no assistance.

A built-in tuner supplies real-time visual feedback of each note as it is played, as well as its proximity to perfection. This is useful for correcting a user's playing position, and educating younger players about pitch and scales.

The presets section allows you to select from 32 wave or wavetable-based patches, store a selected scale & root note, set and recall a specified playing range, and specify per-patch settings for the included stereo delay.

Recessed in the top of the Theremini is a compact speaker perfect for private rehearsal and quick setup anywhere. Silent rehearsal is also possible via the front panel headphone jack. Simply plug in ear-buds or headphones and the built-in speaker becomes silent.

For live performance and gestural control, the rear panel features two line level audio outputs, a pitch CV output with selectable range, and a mini USB jack for MIDI I/O and connectivity.

      Comments about Moog Theremini:

      The sounds are awesome!
It has sounds that are from deep space as well as aquatic whale sounds.
for best sounds and delays - plug it in to a sound system using the stereo 1/4 jacks. ( the little built in speaker is quiet - yet good for ref )

It also has diverse scales ( arabian, gypsy, ryukyu - blues, etc ) which make it easy to play initially in key - a nice touch.

new firmware in the future that will allow for more user prefs would be a cool upgrade - yet overall love it!

        Comments about Moog Theremini:

I have found that the pitch correction feature is a very valuable feature. Besides allowing beginners to get the hang of playing, pitch correction combined with the scale and root features allows interesting playing options not available on traditional theremins.
The built-in speaker is a nice feature. The sound is decent for such a small speaker and is handy for quick messing around. Headphones give a better sound and you hear the stereo effects. To really appreciate how good the sounds are, I plugged the Theremini into my pair of Roland KC500 keyboard amps (15 inch woofers). Great for vibrating the house.
I am extermely happy with the Theremini.

        Comments about Moog Theremini:

Moog claims this is a Theremin for beginners but I beg to differ, I have been playing Theremin for several years & this Theremin is more advanced in features & effects but at the twist of a knob it sounds like a regular theremin too, sounds just as good as any quality Theremin I've ever played.

Neat effects too plus some for that annoying barking dog next door, shuts him up big time!

COOL COOL & COOL & MOST OF ALL FUN FUN FUN!

        I Infinity Love It!

          Comments about Moog Theremini:

I like to start playing before reading the manual, because it's easier to understand what I'm reading when I'm familiar with the instrument. No problems there, right out of the box, it was intuitive, easy to play, and just plain fun. Within ten minutes, my five-year old son was playing it and said, "I feel like I just got six hundred Hot Wheels cars. I infinity love it, daddy!" I couldn't have said it better myself. This is the first musical instrument he's been really excited about, and I infinity love it too.

The interface is simple yet powerful. The presets sound great too. The manual and quick start guides are excellent. A high quality instrument at an affordable price.

Musician's Friend did a great job of communicating and delivery, as always.
