The sound and feel of gut strings with more evenness, projection and stability.
Zyex bass strings use a synthetic Zyex core that provides gut-like rich and complex tone, combined with power and clarity for both pizzicato and bowing. Pitch stability is excellent after minimal break-in time. Zyex bass strings were developed primarily to offer outstanding pizzicato attacks and sustain, as well as superb bowing response. Get the sound and feel of gut strings with more evenness, projection and stability than real gut. Zyex is a new generation of synthetic material, creating strings that are extremely stable under drastic climatic conditions. Scaled to fit 3/4 size bass with a playing length of 41 3/4 inches (1060mm), medium tension strings are optimized for a majority of players. Set and singles available in 3/4 size, medium and light tensions, standard tuning.

Comments about D'Addario DZ610 Zyex 3/4 Bass String Set:
The Zyex strings are pretty cool. They kind of remind me of roundwound strings you'd put on an electric bass (although they are not made like them at all). They have that kind of sound and feel. To get a sense of their brightness and clarity, you have to use the bow. They're easy to bow and sound wonderful. Installation was a snap. They have regular ball ends and give you a cushion to protect your tailpiece. The strings feel smooth against your hands. However, for me they're just not my style. I do a lot of rockabilly slap and they seem to have more of a "growl" than a "boom" on the deep end of the tone, which is cool, but not for me. It took me a while to get used to slapping on them because they're metal wrapped and it feels very different than the Rotosounds I usually use. Once I got used to the feel, I really liked the way the strings attack and the "click" part of the snap sounded nice. They sound really good, are worth the price, but they're just not for me. Since they are inexpensive by upright strings standards, I would give them a try yourself and see if they're your thing because they have a unique sound (bright) and it's pretty cool, but it might not be the sound you are looking for.
