I first used a C1000s in one of the top rooms in the LA area filled to the roof with vintage gear and dozens of Neumanns and Telefunkens of all models, AKG`s the whole shebang. And this mic compared excellently through the sweet custom Jensen pres to reproduce a variety of acoustic instruments from guitar to percussion to berimbau. It was good enough on a platinum record it was good enough for me. I went right out and bought one for myself and get alot of use out of it. Works on vocals too for voices with a slightly lower timbre. Higher voices it takes some work and does`nt flatter them as much. The pattern cap, on off switch and the option of using a 9v battery for the phantom power give it some versatility. Overall a great buy and addition to ones collection in this price range.

I bought an AKG C1000S and was disappointed; on acoustic guitar the upper mids are harsh and grainy. On vocals, the sibilance is quite pronounced. I couldn't find a use for this mic that another microphone didn't do better. AKG makes some great mics but this isn't one of them. Save your money and get their C451B, which is a hundred times better sounding. In the price range of the C1000S, you are better off getting an Oktava mod or an SE mic.

Comments about AKG C 1000 S Condenser Microphone:
There are a ton of home studio equipment options out there these days and tons of inexpensive condenser microphones. Wasn't always that way. AKG has made this microphone for years. I got my first pair like back in '96. They are still going and so are the second set I got a few years after that. They can take quite a bit of abuse. I'd say they work best for drum overheads or for a durable x/y stereo recording - but their size makes them pretty good swiss army knife microphones. Their durability and usefulness makes them good live mikes.
Comments about AKG C 1000 S Condenser Microphone:
Got a pair on sale. Incredible value and sound for the price I paid. Wish they could have been a "matched" pair, but still get great quality out of both.
Comments about AKG C 1000 S Condenser Microphone:
I own pair of C1000S they are great for live application and in the studio.they are perfect for piking the high end in every acoustic instrument, I am usually using the C1000S as Over Heads but mostly I like to use it on sopran and mezzo sopran vocalists it is just bring more air and clarity to the voice in high pitch.
Comments about AKG C 1000 S Condenser Microphone:
If it were stolen I'd buy 2 just so I wouldn't be without one.
I have used this microphone in live performances as well as in the studio for vocals. Very powerful and clean this mic reproduces vocals extremely well and I've own a ton of them over my 44 years as a professional musician.
Has been used live for the past 11 years and I purchased it used and has never let me down. I carry it in my cord case along with expression pedals, effect boxes, etc. (everything you'd find in a keyboardist bag of tricks.) And has never once been scratched or damaged and that is saying something.
I am going to buy a few more for the studio to go along with the one I currently use.

Comments about AKG C 1000 S Condenser Microphone:
Will do whatever you need. The suspiciously simple plastic caps that alter the patterns and response will surprise you. Any acoustic music instrument will sound better. Tough, I use one daily and without special treatment. Great for live setting where one mike will do a variety of tasks. A few of these will easily handle choral, orchestra settings from omni coverage to very directional solo isolation.
Comments about AKG C 1000 S Condenser Microphone:
I started performing on a Sure Vocalmaster PA and many different pairs of mikes. Over the yeare of stage and studio recording I've used about every kine of mike in the business. There are many excellent products on the market, but for live performing with an assortment of acoustical guitars, The C1000s has ben the best for me. The sound of a Martin or Gibson or even a Dobro was reproduced so well that audience members comment about how good it sounded nd that they could hear the differences of each instrament. At last was what I thought when I started using this mike. Thats my story and I'm stickin to it. Regards
