An incredible mixer for live music, conferencing, panel discussions and much more.
Allen & Heath has launched new Chrome Editions of its Qu series compact digital mixers to mark the launch of Qu v1.8 Chrome firmware in mid-October, which adds major new features including Automatic Mic Mixing, a Spectrogram and additional monitor mixes. This is the QU-16 Chrome. Chrome Edition Qu-16mixers feature the same high-contrast metallic finish rotary controls and fader caps as the premium GLD Chrome series, providing optimal visibility in low lighting scenarios and enhanced tactile control. For conference and business presentation applications, the new Automatic Microphone Mixer (AMM) coming in v1.8 firmware helps the engineer manage the levels of multiple inputs, ensuring that each speaker’s contribution is heard, but with priority settings to establish an order of precedence. AMM is vital in applications such as meetings and panel discussions where a number of microphones are open at the same time, reducing background noise and minimizing the risk of feedback. Qu v1.8 Chrome firmware also unlocks more monitor mixes by allowing Stereo Groups to be switched to Mix mode. The Qu-Pad app receives further enhancements with the inclusion of new controls, views and functions, such as remote control over AMM settings. Qu-Pad is one of a series of control apps which also includes Qu-You for personal monitoring. Existing Qu users will be able to update to v1.8 Chrome firmware to get even more flexibility from their mixers. For a detailed look at the QU-16s features, please see #H97121. There is a complete specifications listing there, along with a more complete description of the QU-16's capabilities.

Comments about Allen & Heath QU-16 Chrome Edition Digital Mixer:
I purchased my QU16 almost a year and a half ago. It is easy to set up and easy to learn to use. I purchased it because I began to learn to record and needed a relatively easy to use mixer. If you know how signals flow through a mixer, this is one easy to use board. I use Presonus Studio One 2 Professional as my DAW and have had no problem recording every track from the QU16. I LOVE the QU Drive and use it when recording for redundancy. I use my mixer at my church with a splitter snake to record each service and have total separate control over my recording mix from FOH mix. For the price, this is a powerful mixer. I would recommend this mixer for any event where you need no more than 19 inputs. I use St 1, St 2, and St 3 inputs as added inputs on my recordings. The only bad thing about the QU Drive is that you are limited to inputs 1-16 and the Stereo Mix. As a redundancy recording device, I lose my St 1, St 2, and St 3 inputs if the DAW has an issue during recording.
