Comments about Allen & Heath ZED-24 Mixer:
I didn't buy this here, but at the bankrupcy auction of an evangelist. It hadn't had the best of handling, but replacing a few knobs and a scary looking power cord made it a nearly beautiful piece of equipment; except for a few dings on the control surface and case. The origional owner just jammed his equipment in the van and never heared about ATA cases. Its appearance scared all the bidders, so I got it for a rediculusly small cost; but when plugged in it worked perfectly in spite of the obvious abuse.
I have a weekly gig where I set up in a cancer patient's hospital room to weekly record his podcasts, and I can wheel the whole kit, 2 microphones, the mixer, headphones and active monitor speakers into the room on a single cart. I need no external signal processing with this unit.
It is my standby FOH mixer when my other mixers (An Allen and Heath PA-20, and Venue 48,) are busy.
I like it and give it four and a half stars.

Comments about Allen & Heath ZED-24 Mixer:
Interesting that some of the toggles (phantom power and signal path modifiers)are sized and placed so you need a pen or a stylus to change the position. I suppose you wouldn't want that type of toggle to be out there where it would get nudged. Pretty good bang for the buck. Haven't tried recording in the studio with it yet, but it sounds darn good, live. One thing: It seems to take more power to achieve the same amplitude with my PA system.
Comments about Allen & Heath ZED-24 Mixer:
Overall it is built like a tank, sounds awesome, love the usb feature and all the xlr inputs.
Love the features of this mixer but kinda wish it had sub channels and another couple of outs.
Very well built and sounds great. I have been using this mixer for about 3 months and would buy another.
Good value for a mixer this size
Comments about Allen & Heath ZED-24 Mixer:
Sounds ok, lacks routing. I hate it when I have to use this mixer to mix a show.
Mixer works well enough. It has 24 channels and no groups, what the heck was this board made to do? No pre / post switch for aux 1 and 2, only two main outs.
I used it for mobile live audio work so it gets moved all the time and it still works.
I would never buy this product.
Comments about Allen & Heath ZED-24 Mixer:
As a musician who always worked through Peavey, Yamaha, Mackie mix boards and a few behringers, I seldom found much real difference in the sound or setting up a good mix. ZEach seemed to have one or more shortcomings that you deal with and work around. It's just what you do to optimize what you have. Recently I filled in for a well equipped and funded local band. They had this mixer with Crown XLS and JBL's. I assisted in setting up and getting the mix. As a micing drummer, I often become involved with getting the sound right so I can play as ussual with confidence that I don't splash out the sound and I lay tightly in the main mix. When it's right, you play better.I can state with total certainty that this mixer is miles away from anything I have ever used before. The contol is so tight and accurate tiny moves make needed differences in the mix. Eq's are true and do shape the wave. Pre and Post aux sends are incredibly useful in setting up monitor mixes as well as effects. It is difficult to express the true difference this level of quality can make, but not hard to appreciate it when you perform. I have determined that I will begin my new savings account as a dedicated account to get one of my own for our band. Yes it makes that big of a difference.
Comments about Allen & Heath ZED-24 Mixer:
i have mine for a several months now and it is a mean machine, from the preamps to the usb jack you feel quality at its best. each knob, each fader are carefully calibrated to the tiniest of the adjustmens I mean you want 1db you got it you want less than that you can have it too. road ready constructed with sealed pots and faders bright led iluminations and a sort of options, the only thing I miss are aditional buses for comodities such as sub mixing or for FOHalthough you can use the auxes for that.
Comments about Allen & Heath ZED-24 Mixer:
Had mine for several years now and had no problems. The USB connectivity works great for recording and playback, unfortunately the board driver will only record at 16bit though, but unless you are doing ultra-high end production (and if you are you wouldn't be using this board anyway) you won't notice it. Between rehearsals and performances, this board gets used anywhere from 2 to 8 hours a day, six days a week, and has never missed a beat. If you are looking for a board with lots of channels and Aux's you won't find a better deal. I spent 3 months researching and I'm glad I did.
Comments about Allen & Heath ZED-24 Mixer:
For the price, the features are very difficult to beat, in any combination. The ability to punch in and out any channel (mute button) is essential for noise reduction in both live and studio situations (this board is used for both applications in my world). All other elements here work nicely together, and provide options when you know what you are doing. By thinking through your desired result, you can perform some tricks (albeit at the cost of a channel or two for effects) that get you where you need to be. The flexibility is outstanding, and the systemic noise is nearly zero.If there is any negative at all, it is the lack of submixing groups and dedicated send/return loops for outboard effects. But for the price, I suppose it is difficult to expect those two things. The work-around I created was using the AUX 1 & 2 systems for reverb and delay respectively, bringing the "wet" signals back into a pair of channels. I have an I-Pod feeding a stereo signal of backing tracks into stereo channel 23-24 as a solo guitarist. Using another Aux feed, I can send that signal straight to a secondary (powered) mixer that simulates "sidefills" for bass/keyboard/drum mix, and then pump the signal out front on the mains. With that rig, extra microphones (channels) are no problem. The USB port was a key selling point on this mixer, because of the recording flexibility it offers. (One of the HUGE negatives of most other mixers -- they should ALL have that feature in today's digital era.)With the channel overhead present in this situation, I can use the board in many ways. ALWAYS get more channels than your wildest dream can imagine using, because the future always pushes limits inconceivable when you are first shopping. In all, I couldn't find better features for the price, so I snagged it. It was a good choice. Knowing I could be doing pro sound reinforcement for other bands, political rally speaking engagements, and assorted performing venues/recording for myself -- flexibility was a requirement. I got it in this board. Over a year now, no problems whatsoever. Solid engineering. Yep -- I would recommend this board to all but the most demanding mixing environments (those who simply cannot live without multiple sub-mixes for very complicated live rigs & multiple monitor systems).
