Comments about American DJ DMX Operator 384:
I bought one of these units and was having trouble with the unit resetting itself (behaves like you turned it off and then on again). I thought it was a power problem so I ran it through a battery backup, voltage regulator, line conditioner, and still had issues. Finally contacted ADJ and they asked if I tried a different power supply, so I rigged up a temporary 9-volt supply that fixed the problem. So evidently they have had problems with their switching (120/240) 9-volt adapters, and they shipped out a replacement. Works fine now. The controller is easy enough to program if you understand DMX concepts. Decent layout. Easy to hook up. Rugged chassis with solid controls. The LED indicators are kind of bright.. maybe too bright. Has more features than I needed (moving fixture joystick, fog machine switch, etc.). Didn't try MIDI features. Runs for hours and doesn't get warm.
