This pedal switch will function ideally in a studio environment, mainly to save time, it is flawlessly functional, afordable and seems built to last.It does do exactly what it says. However, I would question this pedals uses in a live/gigging environment... the first thing I noticed was the size/shape, the two switches are around an inch apart! This is crazy as a stomp switch! your gonna be fannying around trying to pick out the right spot with your big toe mid song. Its almost cube like too... so a little to much pressure and you will flip the thing over!tha last point is the fact that you can only power it with a battery, no slots for an adapter. I like to chain my pedals up to save time money and to avoid the risk of the batteries running out while you play.

I bought this switch so I could connect my main guitar and back up guitar into the same amp. The description CLEARLY say "Hook 2 instruments into the same amp". No brainer. I break a string, I simply grab my back up guitar, hit the switch and I have a seemless transaction. First off the switch is noisy, secondly when I opened it the directions say : Not recommended for use to hook to instruments to one amp" (what the heck is that all about?) THIRD, if you do hook it up, all it does is gives you a Y connections, YOU CAN'T SWITCH THE SIGNAL from each guitar off. In other words both signals come through at once. Lastly, 1 guitar volume affects both guitars. How freeking usless is that! I turn on down so thew sound doesnt bleed through and both of my guitars have no volume. I turn it up and both guitars bleed through!JUNK! Find another switch!

Comments about ART CoolSWITCH A/B-Y Box:
I love this pedal. It adds a lot of flexibility to my performances. I use it live at larger shows with no problems. To the other post that says it makes to much of a hum, the reason why is you probably need to change the battery inside it, which is my only dislike of it, you have to unscrew it. It is built like a tank holding up to Art's name.
Comments about ART CoolSWITCH A/B-Y Box:
I've only used this to switch between two combos or run both at the same time. Never had any popping noises. No hum either and I do use a decent amount of gain sometimes. The box is a bit small but otherwise, it's a great value. I've used this in the studio and live and its worked flawlessly.
Comments about ART CoolSWITCH A/B-Y Box:
I used this box to hook up 2 half stacks to record with. It produced so much of a humming noise that I couldn't use it to record with. Too noisy. Don't waste your money on this if you need a quite switch pedal. Pay the extra money and get a "lehle" switcher.

Cool little box for the price. It does have a slight bleedthrough between the channels but I use it to switch between two guitars (acoustic and electric) at shows and it works great. The only point of note is that in order to accomplish this you must run the box in reverse. Connect the two guitars to the outputs and the amplifier to the input. If you hook it up in the forward direction, both guitars will be on at all times and it will be a "Y" connection only. The circuit is fairly passive which allows bi-directional operation.
Comments about ART CoolSWITCH A/B-Y Box:
I, like another reviewer, purchased this to change between and acoustic and electric during gigs. It says that it can do this, however, it does not. It keeps both guitars on at all times, which defeats the purpose of the "switch". I recommend you not purchase this if this is what you need it for.
Comments about ART CoolSWITCH A/B-Y Box:
This switcher is nice but not inaudable, so there is a sound when switching amps. I'll be for spending a few more bucks on a higher end product that is silent for switching from my rhythm to my lead line up.

I recently started looking into getting a switcher since I'm trying to do something with my sound(make it go from left to right) and this is an awesome switcher for a great price. It's all you need!
Comments about ART CoolSWITCH A/B-Y Box:
I use two of these switches in tandem, so I have 3 guitars hooked up to 1 effects circuit. You can easily press the wrong switch and get the connections wrong, but all-in-all, it's a great way to use multiple in's and out's. Yes, it can make some noise when switching if you're not careful.
