No high end.

Comments about Audio-Technica ATM250 Hypercardioid Dynamic Instrument Microphone:

I know most people are using this mic for kick drum. In my acoustic band, our washtub bass player has tried this mic in studio and live situations both inside and outside the tub with little success. Live, at a few inches from the stage floor it proved to be a bass feedback nightmare, and in the studio only passed the bass fundamental notes, cutting off all of the higher harmonics of the metal tub.

Disappointed, there are better choices . . .

Comments about Audio-Technica ATM250 Hypercardioid Dynamic Instrument Microphone:

Generally, I like A-T products, but this one just doesn't perform as well as competing products like the Beyer M88, EV RE-20/27, EV 868, or the Audix D6. Instead of the well-defined "thump" I was looking for, I got more of an undifferentiated bass tone. Perhaps that's why there are a flood of used ATM250's out there, even though this product has not been on the market for long. The ATM250's are designed in Japan, but made in China -- while the high-end A-T mics are made in Japan -- a little detail I didn't notice until it was too late. I eventually ended up with an EV 868, which sounds great. My first choice was the Beyer M88, which I've used and loved, but it was over my budget.
