As a singing drummer I needed a quality headset mic that would stay in place. I had another, more expensive mic that I was told would be a Shure thing, but the boom arm would drop and the headset itself would shift while I was playing. I used a conventional mic on a boom stand but that was hard while drumming. This is A GREAT MIC AT A GREAT PRICE! I have used it for about a month on a handful of gigs and it stays in place, delivers accurate tone and sound and takes the abuse that a working musician dishes out in normal use. Thank you Audio Technica! As an aside,I purchased a 20' extension cable and run this one through a belt loop and connect the 2 at my throne. Works everytime.

This might be decent for a preacher or an auctioneer, but if you play, and sing, on stage, don't buy this one.

No features to speak of.The boom won't stay in place uless I crank the screw down. It doesn't adjust easily when I want to go from harmony to lead.
Either I got a dud, or people who reviewed them have never had a decent headset mic before.
I have a higher end board and have to crank both the bottom end, as well as the compression, to get a decent sound out of it. It isn't even close to the quality I had with my old AKG c410. (I can't get parts for it anymore so...)
Save your money, buy a condenser headset.

I had this same mic for about 8 years, it finally broke. I use it every Saturday night, plus I perform at nursing homes/assisted living homes occasionally. Works great

I use this with a little portable amp. It's great for that. When plugged into a soundboard it sounds a little thin.

I am a rock drummer and this headset works great for the price. I have a couple of them and they have been solid mics.

Comments about Audio-Technica PRO 8HEX Headset Mic:
I've used this mike for about 5 years of occasional gigging. It's held up great and I've had some sound guys tell me they love it, and some that say they hate it. The biggest complaint I have is that it picks up too much of the drums along with the vocals. If you're not singing, the drums come through and mess up the mix with the drum mikes. Overall, worth the money, but if you gig a lot you may want to upgrade.
Comments about Audio-Technica PRO 8HEX Headset Mic:
I'm a singing drummer and bought this to finally free me from the boom stand. Man what a difference! I can't tell you how nice it is to be able to move your head around while singing. Wow! I can't believe I put myself through the "boom stand woes" for so long. As for the quality of the mic, I think it works great. I've seen a couple other reviews about how thin or tinny it sounds but I haven't found that. I just sing back-up vocals so it sounds just fine for that. We have a sound guy at our rehearsals and he was loving it last night, having a lot less issue with feedback. With the right EQ you can make this thing sound how ever you want. I think it's a great value so far. I haven't owned it very long so we'll see how it holds up but I'm a firm believer that things usually last if they're taken care of so I'm guessing it will last a long time. Rock on!
Comments about Audio-Technica PRO 8HEX Headset Mic:
I purchased this microphone for my wife who sings and plays keyboards for our band. I actually did not expect too much from this product as my opinion regarding any of the headset-type mics is that most of them are not very good. My experience with most of these mics is that they have are very low gain and very tinny sounding. This mic fits the mold; however, I found that it had more gain than many that I have tried. The sound? yes, they are haavy on the high-end; however, a good mixer board will cure that problem. We actually tuned this one to the point where it had too much low-end. Overall, it performed very well once we got it tuned into our system and I can actually say that we will continue to use it as a permanent part of our PA system. We perform in a variety rock band, so it was tested pretty well at our last gig. My wife's only advice about using it...it IS pretty sensitive, so remember to move it away from your face when you're not actively singing....
Comments about Audio-Technica PRO 8HEX Headset Mic:
I bought one of these because my more expensive AKG got stepped on. Save your money...don't buy this is you're a singer. You can't get your monitor EQ to work since the response curve on this is so wierd. Maybe this would work for an aerobics instructor, but not for a singer.
Comments about Audio-Technica PRO 8HEX Headset Mic:
I'm a drummer for a rock cover band and do lead and backing vocals. I bought this to free myself from a mic on a stand. It fits really well but that's the only good thing about it. The sound is nothing but intense mids, and you can't EQ junk! The cord is TINY and the plastic plug VERY fragile. Save your money and step up to a shure or crown.
