Comments about Audix OM-7 Microphone:
I am by no means a sound expert. The other guys in the band do that. I just show up and sing. Unlike some of th reviews, I didn't notice the difference between my old sm58 and the om7 right off the jump. However, after a few practices and a few gigs I have noticed it. I don't have to make as much effort to break through the instruments and background vocals and the end result has been less strain on my voice. I used to have problems keeping my voice in check when we did two gigs in a row, and that has become drastically less of a struggle than it was. Like I said, I'm no sound expert, but I do kow this mic has made me sound better on stage and helped me keep from blowing my voice.

Comments about Audix OM-7 Microphone:
I am not that easily impressed but I have to tell you that this mic is worth TWICE what you're going to pay for it! This mic makes the beta 58's sound like a cheap radio shack mic. If you have ANYONE with a soft or airy voice that's hard to get enough gain to make them sound good.... you need this mic. I used it last night for my show and I LOVED IT. My Female singers LOVED it. I have never been able to bring their voices up out of the mix without cutting the music volume and on a busy night with lots of crowd noise they then cant' hear themselves OR the music. This microphone is like friggin magic!! I can not express to you in words how impressed I am with it. You should buy one... you WON'T regret it! I promise!!

Comments about Audix OM-7 Microphone:
This is a great sounding mic. I have used the good old SM58 for years with great results. When I stepped behind an OM7 for the first time, I was blown away with the first two words. "CHECK ONE!" was followed quickly by, "WOW!" So much presence and clarity, I could hear and feel every detail of my voice coming back to me through the monitors. It was inspiring, and as I sang, I knew I was sounding better AND SINGING BETTER, than I ever was with the old SM 58.
I now recomend this mic to anyone who will listen. It will forever more be my number one go to mic.
At more than twice the price of a 58, it may scare off some people, but it shouldn't. A mic of such incredible quality inspired me, and I feel that it brought my singing to new levels.
Besides, how much money do you have in your guitar rig? Doesn't your voice deserve the same special treatment?
Comments about Audix OM-7 Microphone:
I own many mics. Shure 58, 57, Beta 58, and KSM 9. A friend of mine has the Heil 35 but it has a sharp ssst sound at the end of her phrasing so I decided against it. Though I've heard good reviews on them, it ended up hurting my ears through the monitors no matter how much I eq'ed it. I've always loved my KSM 9 but have had issues using the condenser in a loud band setting. Lots of bleed and feedback issues. The OM-7 has completely cleaned up our stage sound and has added a great warmth and punch to my lead vocals. I love the tone of this thing and how dead quiet it is on stage. My bassist was so impressed he'll be buying one as well. You won't regret buying it!!
Comments about Audix OM-7 Microphone:
I've used many different mics over the years but this one tops them all. If your standing in front of a Marshall stack like me and need to get the monitors hot without feedback this mic is it. It also is the best sounding mic I have ever used too.
Comments about Audix OM-7 Microphone:
For a vocalist that cups his mic, this is one of the best. The capsule is right at the grille, allowing less coloration of the sound when the mic is cupped, although the polar pattern is still affected. That being said though, it's still has great gain before feedback. The 500-800hz range on this mic is a bit more apparent than many others, which is some circumstances might sound a bit nasal/boxy, but in a dense mix it makes the vocal stand out much more than many others. The only problem is that due to the capsule being right up front, you've got to be very aware of moisture, and it can get wet during a performance just from (intense) singing/screaming. The tone changes radically then...
Comments about Audix OM-7 Microphone:
I have used many mics in both live and recording work - The OM7 is the best live mic I've ever used. It also produces very clean and accurate vocal recordings as well. While it requires ALOT more 'Gain' attenuation than most other mics, it also produces a much cleaner sound, and is more responsive while resisting feedback in live situations. You will not regret purchasing this mic. It's as pro as it gets for a great price.
Comments about Audix OM-7 Microphone:
Zero feedback. If you can get this mic to feedback you're doing something incredibly wrong. There's a roll-off in the low end (to cut the mud) and a bump in the upper midrange (for clarity). The mic is incredibly clear and doesn't hide ANYTHING.This mic has an EXTREMELY tight polar pattern so singers remember to stay right on top of the mic. No wandering or it'll lose you. Stay within an inch of the screen and directly in front of it and you'll sound amazing. This mic shines for handheld lead vocal applications, especially rappers and loud rockers. It has a comparatively low output so get used to turning the pre-amp gain up.For female singers or for guitarists/bassists (where the mic is on a stand) or any all-round vocal the OM6 might be a better match. It's got a flatter response and a wider polar pattern but it's still incredibly feedback resistant and clean and clear.
Comments about Audix OM-7 Microphone:
I couldnt resist the scratch and dent price so I decided to pick up this mic. I used it for a small gig using a powered mixer with no pre-amp or gain. I had to crank the channel to hear myself and switched back to my old Dynamic ATM41HE. Make sure you use it with a pro pa or get a pre-amp as noted in the manual. I hooked it up to my Mackie when I got home and it does have a warmer fuller sound. I gave it overall 4.5 just because you need a pre-source to drive this bad boy but fully recommend.
Comments about Audix OM-7 Microphone:
I used this incredible mic a week ago when my band opened for Pillar in Chanute, KS. I must say, we've never been able to get a good vocal mix when we play live (ususally because we're using mics with horrible feedback issues, which result in fewer dB's in the vox deptartment) but we were able to get a stunning sound with these. The other guitarist and I do harmonies to the lead singer and we just sounded amazing. We had alot of comments on our vocals after that show. I am planning on purchasing 3 of these when I get my next paycheck. You should do the same.
