Behringer

1600W 16-channel powered mixer with multi-FX processor and FBQ Feedback Detection.

The Behringer EUROPOWER PMP4000 Powered Mixer (2 x 800W stereo, 1600W bridged mode) produces even more power than its predecessors while maintaining famously low weight and high efficiency. The EUROPOWER PMP4000 mixer employs Class-D technology including a switch-mode power supply, significantly reducing weight and heat. The 16-Channel Behringer PMP4000 offers 8 built-in XENYX mic preamps, 24-bit FX processor with 100 presets, and FBQ Feedback Detection.

What is Class-D Technology?
Instead of operating relatively continuously like Class AB circuits, Class-D amps switch on and off thousands of times per second, delivering power only when needed. In other words, the amplifier is either fully on or fully off, which significantly reduces power losses from the output devices given off as heat. Less heat means the amps don't need massive heat sinks, and that makes them lighter. This no-compromise design means the EUROPOWER PMP4000 mixer will deliver full power with incredible fidelity all night long, without the need for lengthy rest cycles.

When used in conjunction with switching-mode power supplies, which don't require huge and heavy transformers, Behringer's Class-D amplifiers provide tremendous dynamic punch and superior fidelity. The resulting speaker systems are much lighter, making them easy to transport and set up.

Massive Mono or Stunning Stereo
EUROPOWER PMP4000 gives you the choice of 2 x 800-watt stereo, 2 x 800-watt dual mono mode (giving you a mono version of the main signal through one powered output plus a mono version of all monitor send signals through the second powered input) or 1,600-watt bridged mono sound. Whether the center of attention happens to be a folk trio, a speech, or a synth-rock band with mind-boggling stereo patches, the EUROPOWER PMP4000 mixers can accommodate. This sonic versatility also makes it an excellent choice for churches, where vocals and stereo recordings often share face time.

Classic Control, State-of-the-Art Sound
Leave the mic preamps at home, because the quality of sound that was once only available in the studio is ready to go wherever you do. Built-in, boutique-caliber mic preamps with switchable +48V phantom power make it possible to use either dynamic or condenser mics with the EUROPOWER PMP4000. It gives you 8 mic inputs.

Built-in Digital Effects Processor
The EUROPOWER PMP4000 comes equipped with a 24-bit FX processor, giving you 100 mind-blowing digital effect presets such as delay, chorus, and reverb. Apply them to any channel, as well as to the monitors and main output. In case you're pulling double duty as sound engineer and performer, the FX processor features a footswitch jack for remote on/off. Of course, if you have treasured outboard gear you've grown attached to, the EUROPOWER PMP4000 can integrate them into the mix while leaving out the built-in FX processor.

Changing the Channels
The EUROPOWER PMP4000 mixer has excellent flexibility to accommodate whatever a performance requires. You get 8 channels for mics, guitars, and other mono instruments. Stereo channels 9-16 are designed to work in pairs as stereo channels, or independently for more mono instruments. All mono channels have 3-band EQ, switchable low-cut filter for eliminating infrasonics, and Clip LEDs to indicate when the input signal is too hot.

The FBQ Feedback Detection system automatically shows you which frequencies are causing feedback. Just touch the FBQ button and watch the red LEDs on the 7-band graphic EQ pinpoint show you which frequencies to adjust for optimized sound, without the feedback.

The Ins and Outs
Use the CD/Tape In RCA inputs to feed in external stereo signals from CD players or tape decks. The Voice Canceler switch eliminates the vocals from prerecorded music for instant karaoke applications.

CD/Tape Out RCA outputs send line-level signals from the mixer to a recording device. The left and right output 1/4" connectors can be used for a variety of purposes, including connecting more power amps. Connect monitor power amps or active monitor speakers to the Mon Sound output. Powered outputs on this mixer are available in professional Speakon-compatible format.

Small, Simple, Superb
Medium-sized events call for a lightweight, easy-to-use powered mixer. The EUROPOWER PMP4000 mixer is one of the most efficient, affordable mixers for the job, and is even suitable for use as pure analog mixer or as a pure power amplifiers. With new technological advantages and incredible built-in features, it's easier than ever to lend exceptional sound quality to all kinds of public performances.

A good buy

Features:

has alot of features for the price

Quality:

not the toughest product but it will last if you take care of it.

Value:

Say what you will but for the price this is hard to beat. If you need an all in one system for small

gigs or a system you can use for medium size venues with powered subs and powered monitors,

Or you can run a sub and get powered mains, Or etc. etc. look there are options here that for the price can't be beat. Be smart and get some cabs that are properly rated for this and not some power hungry models and you will be fine. Add some powered subs and monitors as you grow and when finances permit.

Overall:

Most the venues my band plays have nice sound systems, But when they don't, I break out our

system and  all is good. No complaints yet.

Honestly, this is a much more economical choice than seperate mixers and power amps

Features:

The board contains all the features of MUCH more expensive mixers, like tons of inputs, built in effects, and decent power for its size.  One of the coolest features are seperate sliders for TWO independent monitor banks.  Monitors are something most mixers neglect, giving you only an awkward rotary knob to adjust their level.  This board has two dedicated sliders - very cool.  Also, a third independent slider for an external powered sub really complements the overall sound.  Do not expect this board to move mountains with its power, but it will fill a small to medium venue with sound.  You WILL need a seperate powered sub or power amp and passive sub for a complete mix, as there is simply not enough punch in an 8 ohm setup to deliver acceptable bass.  Finally, its cool that the EQ can be used to fine tune the mains or monitors, but I think the engineers dropped the ball in that you MUST CHOOSE ONE OR THE OTHER.  In other words, the 7 band EQ can be assigned to either, but not both simultaneosly.  I think this is the only real detraction to the board. PMP4000

Quality:

I know people bash Behringer on here all the time, but from my experience, I have always had good results.  I have had some PA equipment dump on me in the past, but oddly, its always been more expensive stuff.  Admittedly, I have not pushed this board yet with anything heavier than an 8 ohm load, but I plan to add a set of mains and tax the amp to see how much headroom it really has.

Value:

Value is where this board (and most Behringer prodocts) shines.  Find another board with these features anywhere on this site, any name brand - it will be be at least double the price.  Most will be double the price and unpowered. Easy, flexible setup out of the box, and you can be gigging in minutes.  If nothing else, even the most adamant sound afficionado would agree this board is a fabulous backup to your $3000 PreSonus main rig, and worth every penny.

Overall:

I have to say Behringer didn't quite hit it out of the park, but its good for extra bases.  At this price point, I don't think any other manufacturer can touch this.

Over rated Power I Suspect

| Review By: Thunda | 4 months, 3 days ago

2 people out of 3 found this review helpful

Features:

Lots of inputs, graphic eq, lots of effects, most useless for live use, and really subtle, if turned up enough to actually notice, bad sound results.  rca jacks for aux input/output.  handy for smaller gigs.

Quality:

flimsy feel, plastic housing

Value:

you get what you pay for,  cheap is cheap.  problem is, at this price point, there ought to be a bit more perceived power and headroom.

Overall:

rated 300 watts at 8 ohms.  through my Peavey SP5 speakers (new models, rated at 800 watts program) this unit sounds more like 100 watts.  No headroom for vocals in a loued setting (and I'm NOT talking stacks here, I'm talking two 30-60 watt guitar combo amps, a bass amp with 2 10's (and he does NOT play loud) and a drummer.  I swear my mate's 30 watt Vox solid state has more volume!  Micing the kick drums causes clipping at the input with the gain set VERY low (like 2).  If the vocalist (like our female singer) does not PROJECT, she cannot be heard, if gain is turned up any more (now about 7) we get massive distortion and feedback. Although this unit (owned by bandmate) has more pro features, my 1680s portable mixer seems to have more power and better headroom, although rated the same.  Still, after the last gig, I'm going back to my Soundcraft M12 and PV2600 power amp.  Better sound, more headroom, more power, and you can hear the kick drum without clipping.  At the end of the day, this would be a useful item for home studio work, practices and SMALL gigs

EUROPOWER PMP4000

Features:

Actually the board has a lot  of features...to make it succint, it has everything you will need in a PA board including effects...has a couple unique features like a feedback system in conjunction with the eq...I don't use it...the eq can be switched between main and monitors...I like that

Quality:

This is my first Behringer product...so far it seems to be built well..it is being used as a main board with a band so it's taking normal road abuse. No probs so far...had it for about 6 months.

Value:

I bought it beacause of the enormous amount of power it has; but overall I'll have to say there is a lot of value in this unit when you compare features to money....here's the rub...even with all that power it doesn't seem to have the headroom to run both monitors and mains (though it is built to function that way)  I was running faders way too hot to get a strong sound....so...I use a separate amp for the monitors....and use the board strictly for mains....works awesome that way...especially if you are micing a couple drums and the guitar amp along with 3 vocal mics

Overall:

Overall I like the unit when used with a separate power amp for the monitors..of course if you are using this to power a small quiet group..the headroom is more than plenty..say a folk group...or church etc....but if  powering a louder band...use a monitor amp....easy to use ..sends on top of unit  as are all the connectors.. find a case for it...or build one..it's all plastic so yo know how that it is....all in all..it does exactly what it's suppose to do especially at the price...scrimping for band equipment ?...I say go for it.
