After having read several reviews of this preamp, it appeared to be  wxactly what I was looking for. Great sound quality at an affordable  price. I must say, I was a little diappointed when I hooked up this  preamp today and threw a couple of Lp's on my Technics SL-1200MK2. I  first connected the turntable directly to the preamp and the preamp to  my receiver. There was almost no white noise, but the EQ was terrible.  The low end was very muddy and the highs were very tinny. So I decided  to run my turntable through my Technics SH-8030 graphic EQ and then the  EQ to the preamp. Not only did this increase the white noise  significantly, it also made the highs even more tinny. Now I know this  little preamp only cost $20 and I wasn't expecting audiphile quality,  but I think the sound quality could be much better. I played several  different Lp's to get an idea of the sound quality of this preamp, and I  think if you're someone who doesn't really care about the issues I have  mentioned, it's a good product for the price. My turntable honestly  sounded better through my old Yamaha receiver from the 80's than it does  through this preamp. The only reason I'm keeping it is because I have a  smaller living room and don't have the room to set up my Yamaha  receiver with my turntable. I will say that this preamp is of quality construction.

I've had this preamp for over two years. For a solid state phono preamp, you can't beat this with a stick!  It works great for both computer recording(professional sound cards and software based) and play back through a reciever.  I'm sure a tube based preamp would be a bit more "rich", but for recording or playing back on the cheap, its great!

Incompatible with Sony STR-DH100

I have a recently purchased Sony STR-DH100 amp/receiver, which I knew would require a phono pre-amp.  This Behringer pre-amp (purchased from Musicians Friends) worked fine (no hum) but when I turned my Sony amp up (not very loud)to hear my phono the amp would shut down with a "PROTECT" warning indicating an "irregular current."  Obviously incompatible, so I am out the shipping charges to receive and to return the product.  What a waste of $$ and time.  I am now using my old colege amp (with built in phono pre-amp) to listen to my records.

I was given a turntable from a friend but had my amplifier die before I got chance to hook it up. This inexpensive phono preamp (1/4 of the price of some of the competition) is the business! The sound is incredible. Got it hooked up to a Sony 5.1 system. A nice alternative to finding electronic repair places (if you can).

I've always been impressed by Behringer's products. I usually hesitate to buy things that are "inexpensive," but time and time again, from amps and mixers, to speakers and monitors, Behringer has continually surprised me with the quality of their products. This little preamp is no different. I was looking at some of the higher priced preamps, to use along with an old turntable I had purchased. I decided on the Behringer, based on my past experience with the brand, and the low price. I was not disappointed. It provides sufficient output for running it through a set of amped speakers, and also into the line input of my computer, for recording. There is no noticeable hum, and it does include a ground screw. Overall, I would highly recommend this product for anyone looking for a great, inexpensive preamp.
