Behringer

An affordable high-resolution, active 2-way reference studio monitor.

Behringer makes TRUTH B2031A Reference Monitors to speak nothing but the TRUTH. When it comes to your studio recordings, you want honesty. In fact, considering how important your art is, you should demand it! Oh, they still sound great hooked up to your stereo or your video surround system, but they were really built with the studio in mind—where every note you play or sing is "under the microscope."

Built on the Behringer Legacy
Behringer TRUTH B2031A audio monitors have been so wildly successful that they've sold thousands upon thousands of them to some of the most critical ears on the planet. Due to their high-resolution performance, B2031A active 2-way reference studio monitors are perfect for nearfield monitoring applications: from small mixing environments to multi-channel surround setups.

Ultra-Linear Frequency Response
The TRUTH B2031A is a serious contender capable of achieving output levels in excess of 116 dB SPL. Powered by separate 80- and 25-Watt built-in amplifiers with an active crossover, these monitors provide ultra-linear frequency response from 50 Hz to 21 kHz.

Behringer Calls it a Speaker Graduation Diploma
After final assembly, each B2031A spends up to a half hour with a Calibration Engineer being meticulously tweaked to ensure ultra-linear frequency response.

When you buy a TRUTH B2031A monitor, you're truly getting a hand-calibrated unit. Behringer ship a calibration certificate with each B2031A that shows the actual frequency response of your monitor, as tested at the time of manufacture.
After all these rigorous tests, only then is the speaker granted its own Graduation Diploma.

Rock-Solid Bass
Bookshelf-style home stereo speakers can really fool you when it comes to bass output, mainly because they are not designed for critical listening applications. That's why recording engineers and producers listen to projects through studio reference monitors or studio-grade headphones. The B2031A's long-throw 8.75" polypropylene-diaphragm woofer delivers smooth, deep bass all the way down to 50 Hz. Bass content that isn't exaggerated, as it can be in home speaker systems. Rock-solid bass that is an honest representation of the recorded sound, full of subtle nuance; the sound of fingers on the strings, or the rush of air through the long pipes of a cathedral organ, etc.

Non-Fatiguing, Wide "Sweet Spot"
B2031A's HF (High Frequency) content comes courtesy of an ultra high-resolution 1.0" ferrofluid-cooled tweeter mounted on Behringer's proprietary wave-guide. While some of Behringer's competitor's studio monitors have a highly focused "sweet spot" (the optimal listening position for a pair of loudspeakers), Behringer's wave-guide is designed to create a much more generous, broader listening zone. That means you won't wear a hole in the carpet in that one spot where everything sounds great. You are free to move around inside the stereo image to find the ideal spot in the mix for subtle instrument or effects placement opportunities.

You also won't suffer the ravages of "monitor fatigue-syndrome," an ailment that comes from listening to harsh high-mids and treble content for hours on end, even during those all-night mix-down sessions that can really test your nerves.

Expect the Best
Behringer packs 105-Watts of bi-amped technology (including a time- and phase-optimized active crossover) into every B2031A, ensuring that you have the enormous power reserves you'll need to drive them really hard. The unique BEHRINGER wave-guide and the extremely low-distortion crossover network produce an absolutely linear frequency response with excellent sound dispersion and stereo imaging.

Designed to Work in Your Environment
The ideal environment for listening is a room that is “flat,” neither too reflective (echoes) nor too absorptive (where the sound is muffled). But since all rooms are not the same acoustically, all TRUTH monitors come equipped to function in a wide variety of situations. Switches are provided to adapt the monitor’s low- and high-frequency characteristics for optimal performance specific to your listening environment.

Suited for All Placements
Placement is also critical. Ideally, all loudspeakers should be placed away from walls to ensure proper bass response. But fear not, B2031A monitors feature Room Compensation switches so you can place them against walls, or even in corners. Walls tend to enhance low-frequency content, and corners exaggerate bass even more, but your TRUTH monitor can be custom-tailored to provide honest bass response for your situation, with the simple flick of a switch or two.

Please Standby
Since placement of studio monitors can significantly affect their performance, often they are placed in a manner that makes it inconvenient to get to the power switch on the rear panel. Not to worry, the B2031A provides a simple solution to breaking out the stepladder or climbing onto your desk. The B2031A features an AUTO power switch that, when activated, powers up the system as soon as it detects an input signal. If no signal is detected, the system automatically switches into standby mode after five minutes of silence.

XLR and 1/4" Inputs
The B2031A is equipped with servo-balanced inputs on XLR and ¼" TRS connectors to handle a variety of audio sources. Thanks to its compact size and magnetic shielding, the TRUTH B2031A can be placed near video monitors, computer displays or digital audio workstations

I love the fact that you don't need a subwoofer with these. Adding a sub to these during the mixing stage will take away from what these things can really do. I even let a producer who has been in the business for twice as long as i have hear one of my mixes and he is now ready to retire his Events for a pair. I read a review where someone pointed out that the 2031as can go as loud as you want them to and I agree. I dare anyone to turn these up to the max and still be able to hear afterwards.

The fact that they adjust and tune to room size and positioning in a room!.. Not to mention been able to tweek the response levels of the low and high frequencies for that perfect sound.. they cover all the basics. A minor improvement would be putting the volume knobs in the front..

I came from roland DM2100s. I admit not the best in the world for mixing but they are great for listening to the final mix afterwards. The clarity in these monitors are crazy. If you can make it sound good on these it will sound good anywhere.

For what they can do. the solid wood box that the speakers sit in.     WELL WORTH THE PRICE

I originally bought those speakers because I heard they were inexpensive with very good performance. The pair I received had one tweeter not working as good as it supposed to be causing a unbalanced sound field.

Musician's Friend immediately issued me a return. They are and have always been doing a very good job. The speakers are very heavy and the boxes are big making it very hard to move around that's the only complain about receiving a faulty product.

Sound wise, these speakers are very accurate, very clear highs, very rich mids, clear lows. Front exhaust ports making positioning very easy. In addition, they made the power and audio inputs facing down meaning you can put these speakers against the wall without any problem.

They are not the best looking speakers, but I like the old school style.

A lot of adjustments to suit different environment.

Powerful.

Easy to position.

There is a possibility of getting a defective item.

Inexpensive for a good sound.

You have to buy them.

I went into a local store to test out some monitors in my price range, just to get a feel for what I wanted to buy. I had my eyes on JBL Lsr 2325 monitors, KRK Rokit 5's, and Mackie Mr5Mk2's. I first listened to the Mackie's, they had way too much bass and not a clear treble. the Rokit's were accurate, but there was no power so it was intense listening, the JBL's were accurate as well, just more bassy than the latter. I then listened to the Behringer B2031a's and was blown away, they were the best compared to monitors twice their price range. the sweet spot is huge like they advertise, the power is twice all the other monitors making each sound very accurate and easy to hear. The frequency was unbeleivably flat, even the sales people were impressed. I then wanted to compare these to a higher end model, so I turned on the JBL 4328p monitors, and the Behringer's were suprisingly similar. Of course the JBL's sounded a lot better, more power, and a slightly more defined sound, but in terms of frequency they were both very flat sounding. Behringer's are the best speakers you can get in or above their price category. Buy them and you will be amazed.

Despite what hundreds of reviews say online, I bought these and found them to be very sturdy. The reviews online also are not monitor owners, they are previous owners of mixers and compressors and etc..

Best monitors for your money, without a doubt.

These monitors are really clean, clear, and crisp - the low end is very sufficient and the high end is nice as well. Only problem is, ordered two of these from Musician's friend, one worked out of the box and one took some work. One wouldn't power on until I had popped the fuse out and popped it back in, and the positive cable running to the tweeter was also disconnected. Pretty simple stuff to troubleshoot, probably came loose during shipping, but still, just expect to plug these in and have them work? These are good monitors for the home-studio.

I Love em ! Well I bought a pair when they came out, very impressed in ALL areas. I recently had a sump pump put in the basement, had to move the studio. I put these in the living room, hooked up to a K2000. I goofed around a bit, turned it all off.. I thought.. left one monitor on by mistake.. it has been a couple of months since, I found out today I left one on, yikes ! covered, it was luke warm, and works like a champ, still,  lol, I never heard a peep out of it for months ! Sitting there "on", no crackles or pops,  I LOVE THESE MONITORS  :)
