The Behringer U-Control UCA202 is a great little piece of equipment for home recording, especially if you already have a standard, non-USB mixer. Just as many of the reviews say, it connects instantly with plug-and-play, as Windows (and probably Mac) will download the small drivers automatically. After connecting, I find that the sound is very clean and is only limited to the equipment being plugged into the interface. The headphone jack used for monitoring is a great option. It's a bit quiet, but that's probably just my headphones crapping out on me. That being said, I monitor from my mixer anyway, just because.
To address some of the faults I've seen in the reviews, here are a few explanations: The latency issue is dependent on your computer. I plug this into my Netbook with USB 2.0, it has about a 1/3 second delay (that's one-third, not one-to-three). I plug this into my computer with 3.0 USB dedicated to music production, the latency disappears.
This audio interface is a bit on the fragile side. I haven't broken it, but then again, it just sits on the desk, plugged into my computer. The durability shouldn't be an issue, unless you plan on using it as a mace in a Bloodletting Arena, or as a hammer to build the framing for your new dream house.
Simply put, use it for what it's made for on things it was made to be on, and this thing will not disappoint.

I got this unit from Musician's Friend, and enjoyed their fast service, low pricing, and general "lack of headaches" whenever I deal with them. Online retailing is harder than it might seem to the consumer... but these folks deliver. My kudos!I've been a Behringer junkie for years - Uli knows his price-point engineering! The unit itself is a cheap, low-cost means of getting audio into and out of my computer. But, it doesn't get much better - literal "plug and play" (I've iused mine on several XP systems, and have yet to need to load a driver). You just plug it in, wait a couple of minutes for the computer to realize it, and away you go.It's cheap, it's plastic, and if you step on it, it'll break. Who's ever drunk and wobbly in their studios late at night? Put it on the desk, and you'll be fine.My only nit to pick is that its' input and output gain is somewhat anemic compared to higher-priced interfaces I've used. I have ways to get around that in most cases... For ripping LP's and cassettes, it's quiet enough, although the weak gain means that (in a perfect world) I'll spit the signal through some gain stage bfore it gets to the UCA-202- but it's just too weak for me to use for my main recording studio inerface. I only notice this because I spent my money on keyboards and guitars, not on LCD monitors... so my 4 old CRT monitors increase the noise floor unacceptably. Folks with less RF bombarding their project studios might not even notice it. Bottom line - if you need a cheap, portable, reliable interface, this Behringer is the bomb. If you need pristine quality and high gain, be prepared to shell out a bit more than thirty bones. With the caveats above, I LOVE this cheap little box. It gets stuffed into my compuer bag, so no matter what the opportunity, it's there with me. Fortune favors the prepared Musician.Either way, deal with these guys at MF - they're rock-solid in what they're doing, even in this lousy economy.

Comments about Behringer U-CONTROL UCA202 USB-Audio Interface:
I now have two of these, because I found the first one so useful that I wanted a second one. Quick, easy, and to the point to operate. I mainly use them to play music files (mp3s) off my laptop and through various home speaker systems. I have also used it to interface through professional DJ equipment, and for small recording projects at home. It is like a Swiss Army Knife for me.

Comments about Behringer U-CONTROL UCA202 USB-Audio Interface:
The headphone jack on my laptop went bad. This unit provided a reliable 1/8" output. Plug-and-play with no hassle. I plan to try it out as an RCA output audio path to my PA as well.
Comments about Behringer U-CONTROL UCA202 USB-Audio Interface:
The UCA202 unit works great on iOS. The small power requirements of the unit makes it work with now extra powered ports or anything. It works as far back as iPhone 4S, iPad 2, and the original iPad mini that I own. Few units can say that - and this is a unit I bought back before iOS had hit it big.
The sound: Used just as an external DAC, there is noticeable improvement in listening through this over the headphone jack, even with the latest iPhone 6 hardware. I use high impedance headphone including Bose and have plenty of volume. I can see where lower impedance and cheaper earbuds might not get a full sound. And actually you would need high quality cans to hear the difference of this unit to bother not just using the headphone jack.
I have also used this for line recordings from analog mixer on PC. It makes as good a 16-bit recording as anything I have tried. Get this unless you really need 24 bit recordings. 44,100 or 48,000 sample rate is not a limiter IMHO. Much has been written about that elsewhere by experts. You only need 24 bit if you are going to do a lot of processing with plugins on your recordings.

I have been using this to play files (mainly mp3) with my computer/software, through my home stereo system. I have LOVED it so far, for this purpose. As soon as I get the time, I have a project planned where I intend to use it for recording. We'll see how it goes.

Comments about Behringer U-CONTROL UCA202 USB-Audio Interface:
Nice unit for the price. Drivers recognized immediately by my old Dell Inspiron D620 (Win XP) upon hookup. Was able to record two tracks of keyboards (moderate tempo)into freebie version of Audacity with no detectable latency issues. However, when trying to record mic'ed acoustic guitar, had bad latency issues. I was not able to adjust latency settings in software to enable decent monitoring of guitar track. May be related to software more than hardware?

Comments about Behringer U-CONTROL UCA202 USB-Audio Interface:
I have maybe a dozen of these that I have acquired over several years. I have one on every laptop that plays audio through a stereo system. Unlike the built-in sound outputs, this never has any hum or noise or undesirable sound modification. I also use them for recording DJ shows and simple live music setups where I don't need multi-track recording.
Just plug it in and it works with no additional drivers to install - on Windows, anyhow.
