Versatile digital loudspeaker management system.
The Behringer ULTRA-DRIVE PRO DCX2496 is an indispensable tool for the precise setup of multiple loudspeaker systems or arrays. Installation contractors, live-sound engineers, cinemas/discotheques/concert hall operators will quickly learn to love this model's rich features. Signals can be split in various ways to assure precise sound by using the optimal frequency range of each loudspeaker.
Start with its 3 analog inputs (one suitable as a digital stereo AES/EBU input) and 6 analog outputs. You get maximum flexibility in just one rackspace. Superb high-end AKM 24-bit/96kHz A/D/A converters give you ultimate signal integrity and an extreme dynamic range of 113dB. Easy connection of external digital signals with sampling rates from 32-96kHz is a breeze with the integrated sample rate converter. There are precise dynamic EQs for level-dependent equalization and extremely musical parametric EQs, selectable for all inputs and outputs, and "Zero"-attack limiters on all output channels guarantee optimal signal and loudspeaker protection.
You also get 4 different mono and stereo output operating modes, all with individual crossover filter types (Butterworth, Bessel, and Linkwitz-Riley) with selectable roll-off characteristics from 6-48dB/octave. The delays for all inputs and outputs are adjustable. This allows you to correct manually or automatically for room temperature, phase and arrival time differences. An additional sum signal is easily derived from the A/B/C inputs.
Now that remote control is such a hot topic, you'll be glad that the future-proof Ultra-Drive Pro software enables single or multi remote control via PC through RS-232 and RS-485 interfaces. And the link option via RS-485 network interface enables cascading of several Ultra-Drive Pros. A Windows-based editing software is available for download free of charge. No matter what the future brings, its open architecture assures easy software updates. A PCMCIA slot allows you to store all your settings and recall them anytime you change the location--virtually taking your Ultra-Drive Pro with you.

I use this out of the FOH mixer to run mains and subs. Run 3 amps (L +R & mono sub). The DCX2496 has 6 outputs. Have total of eight 15" 2-way mains and two 18" subs. You can set to the exact crossover freq you want each group of speakers to run at, set the limit they will max at, set a particular freq to boost or cut on a given set of speakers, save the setting from gig to gig and even use a laptop for remote contol of the DCX2496(serial cable via the snake). I am going to buy another unit when they are available. Did research and found pro-sound companies use this unit (believe it or not) for low end installations. I plan to buy another unit when avialable. For the money it is great!

As a sound installer I have installed or used 5 of these units. Within 6 months, 4 out of the 5 had some type of failure including one which would turn itself off and reboot in the middle of the gig. I highly reccommend going with a dbx driverack or a rane instead of this unit.

I used this strictly as a crossover and for signal level control so all the amps in the amp rack can have the same gain level. It does ok, I certainly would not recommend this as a system processor. I definitly cannot handle the strain of multiple signal processes. But it is useful as a crossover where settings can be saved and locked making it tamper proof. It does make a low level hum that can be heard when nothing else is coming through system/

The title above pretty much sums up my experience so far with the DCX2496.I have re-soldered almost every joint and still can't stop it from crackling when it warms up. Anyone out there with a fixx I'll be very grateful. My next option (aside from replacing it with maybe a DBX) is to change the input relays; maybe one of 'em has a poor contact which shows-up after the unit warms up? if not for this, the unit sounds fantastic when it's working.

Finally pro level loudspeaker management and control for those of us without unlimited budgets! More features and more control over the DRPA, plus you can actually control each input and output. This is something that the DRPA folks left out of their unit! This this is a breeze to use. Even a monkey could use the PC interface! I own 8 of these units now and I am very happy with every one of them. A big A+ on this unit is the value for your dollar, PC control, software interface, delays, limiting, and true stereo operation.

I am into SR biz mainly for churches. I have been using BSS and KT processors in the past years and installed the new Behringer Xover recently. It just blew me away, since it is even better than the BSS for a fraction of the price!

I had always wished for a processor for the tight budget and this toy gives more than youd expect.Ive installed several units in bars and churches and Ive encounterd in a couple of units a manufacturing defect.The problem is that for no reason it starts generating an audible hiss type of sound(possibly some type of digital distorsion)from one of its outputs.The good thing is that Ive had no problem in exchange for new ones. The other bad is that it has little memory for complicated set-ups.Other than these problems this toy is a real problem-solver.
