I use this to play my drums with my iPod. This was bought to replace using a combination of iPod earbuds and over-the-ear sound dampening earphones which was NOT comfortable but allowed the perfect mix of iPod music to drums without killing my ears. These EX-29's sound WAY better than the earbuds and are WAY more comfortable, however they do not lower the volume of the drums as much. From all my research, the EX-29's are the best product out there for my application, however I wish they made some that had a higher decible reduction. Also, if you move your head while wearing them, they tend to let in alot more noise presumabely because the seal is broken around the ear... I find it a challenge to hold my head still while drumming! Overall I am pleased and WOULD buy them again, and would upgrade to higher decible reduction if they made them.

I use these for live shows\pracitce and find them to do the trick. Expecially helpful when stage monitor mix just doesn't cut it. Sound isolation is good...sometimes too extreme....but if you play hard rock]metal or any extremly loud music, they will do great.
However....i find the contruction cheezy. Lots of plastic...and sort of flimbsy. In fact...be just a little rough with them...and the they break loose from the headphones.
In terms of the sound quality, disappointed with the lack of kick or low end that can be pushed though these. (or just maybe i'm just deaf now ...so i have to turn everything up louder than most bandmembers....prob not MY pair of Sony MDR's sound TONS BETTER and are MUCH MORE DURABLE...and yes i would use them..but the isoation is not strong enough..
The cord is also kind of cheesy...i'm waiting for it to break anyday....(i've had these for a couple of years...and have used them at least a hundred times.)
Bottom line: They serve me well... But I'd expect more considering the price

Comments about Direct Sound EX-29 Extreme Isolation Headphones:
I purchased these for the purpose of listening to audio tracks while playing my acoustic drum set.
Everything is perfect other than the fact that they did not provide enough hearing protection from the kit noise. After just 15 minutes of playing, my ears were ringing so much I had to stop. The snare and cymbals cut through almost without isolation.
Since hearing protection is the purpose of the purchase, and that is what the manufacturer claims these are made for, I can not recommend these for that purpose.
Sound quality was average, but flat. Now flat is good if you want to use these for monitoring and mixing sound. But there are better mixing headphones out there for the price.
I really wanted for these to work, as they are of great quality construction and made in the USA with all replaceable parts.
Just not for my drumming needs. Gotta protect my ears.

Comments about Direct Sound EX-29 Extreme Isolation Headphones:
I've had these a couple years, they fit well and reduce the sound of my quite loud drums enough to practice along with an MP3 player. the cord failed not long after I bought them, I contacted the manufacturer, the owner of the company responded, sent me a new one and asked I share my good experience. nice gesture but the second cord failed at the wiring in the plug and they are unusable. the earpieces are peeling off as well. good customer service, however I will not buy another pair, the price isn't in line with the quality. if these were better quality they wouldn't need replaceable parts.

Comments about Direct Sound EX-29 Extreme Isolation Headphones:
I saw someone post about how these did not block sound well enough. Everyone has their own opinion, but I really do believe that these are the best noise isolation headphones on the market. The sound quality is also far superior and the comfort cannot be beat.

Comments about Direct Sound EX-29 Extreme Isolation Headphones:
Blocks outside noise rather well. Pretty comfortable. I've only owned it for a week but everything seems durable.
Some how it increases the volume from my lap top. A problem I have always had with lap tops and cheap audio caqrds is low volume output, these things are much louder, and now I set my computer's volume level to 50% or else everything is too loud. So I love the volume these things kick out.
The speakers can kick out more volume than my ears feel comfortable listening to, without a bit of distortion. So if you like listening to your music loud, you'll love how well these head phones deliver sound.

Comments about Direct Sound EX-29 Extreme Isolation Headphones:
I think these headphones are great, especially now that the headband is invincible.
I have spoken with Direct Sound (manufacturer) and their headphones are now made with an Incrediflex headband - they will NOT break. You can bend them every which way and there is no destroying these things. They have video demonstrating it on YouTube - Look up 'ExtremeIsoHeadphones' Channel.
They are also now made 100% in America.
Comments about Direct Sound EX-29 Extreme Isolation Headphones:
For drummers these are great, good isolation and really good sound even at high levels.
As far as features go you have a set of headphones with 1/4" TRS adaptable to 1/8" TRS. Also the ycome in a purple crown royal-ish bag which is a nice touch.
Quality seems great. No problems yet.
They are a bit pricey but I am more than willing to pay for a product that is made in USA!!!!!! Which these are.
Comments about Direct Sound EX-29 Extreme Isolation Headphones:
These headphones sounded fine but let many of the druming overtones ring through clearly or even were amplified. I have another pair for drumming that claim less decibel attenuation and do a much better job. At this price I would hope Direct Sound could add in some extra damping.
Comments about Direct Sound EX-29 Extreme Isolation Headphones:
I've been through several hearing devices for protection and sound quality, and my previous set of in-ear monitors / isolation headphones recently broke. I thought I'd give these a shot, but I am heavily disappointed. They fit fine and sound fine, but being that these are "designed by drummers for drummers" I have to say I'm very disappointed.
The ability to isolate from sound should be from ALL frequency ranges. If you put anything over your ears, inevitably it will eliminate the highs since highs can't carry through any surface very well. These don't protect from lower frequencies though. The kicks and even the toms come through very prominently, and harshly as well. The hearing cups act more as an echo chamber than a barrier from which to protect sound. I am returnin these currently. back to in-ear monitors.
Long cable is a definite plus. Wish they had one with iPhone controls.
Good sound quality, materials are solid and should last a long time.
