Bought two of these to solve a ground loop problem between a Rocktron tube pre-amp and ADA tube head in my guitar rack. There was a very faint but annoying 60 cycle hum present I had been living with for years and these DI boxes eliminated it completely. My amp is now dead quiet for the first time EVER. BUT -- I did notice an attenuation of the signal from the pre-amp into the amp inputs, even with the DI boxes set to zero on the attenuation pad. About 20%actually, definitely enough to notice. I had to increase the output signal from my pre-amp and bump up the high end slightly to compensate, no problem after doing that. I have not used passive DI boxes much so this is probably a "feature" of the passive design and to be expected. Otherwise, they work great, built sturdy and a great value overall.

I really cannot rate this unit at this time. I just bought it and have had no opportunity to use it yet. It certainly is a sturdily-made DI box and I love the XLR ins and outs and the 1/4" ins and outs. The attenuator pad is an extra! Only drawback so far is that one of the four tiny screws is missing that holds the top of the case to the bottom. No problem, even at that.

Comments about Live Wire SPDI Passive Direct Box with Attenuation Pad:
This box works great. I've had one for 2 years now & it works great and has always been reliable. I bought this one for a friend that likes mine. It's never let me down yet so untill it does, I gotta call it great. I guess we'll have to see if it will last the test of time, like I said, right now it's a little over 2 years & still going strong.

Comments about Live Wire SPDI Passive Direct Box with Attenuation Pad:
Tried to save a couple bucks with buying these boxes, they sound awful.
Comments about Live Wire SPDI Passive Direct Box with Attenuation Pad:
Good quality construction, good strong signal, quiet. Great buy for the bucks.
Attenuation pad is a nice xtra.
Solid. Metal case, rubber pad on bottom, should last a long time. Use it in my studio at home and to send the output from my bass to the PA and my amp on gigs. Works great in both applications.
You could pay a lot more and not get anything better.
Comments about Live Wire SPDI Passive Direct Box with Attenuation Pad:
Musician's Friend's customer support is fantastic! Very fast shipping too.
Ground lift sw. & attenuator are great additions to this VERY inexpensive direct box. I perform in a very electrically noisy environment and this thing really shields out that noise, both 60 cycle & RF interference is non exesitant.
I also use this as an interface to plug my guitar into my computer's mic jack. It matches the impedance perfectly & cuts out all the noise even when using a 20' guitar cable.
Built like a tank. You won't crush this in your Roadie bag. Well built, even has a LARGE non skid pad on the bottom.
Can't beat the price here either. Only one other that's more inexpensive & it's usually out of stock.
Comments about Live Wire SPDI Passive Direct Box with Attenuation Pad:
Used this box at our church to interface the audio from a DVD player to the sound system while showing music videos. Has a wide frequency response, bass response is excellent (music videos are a good test for bass response). It's in a heavy steel case with a three-position input attenuator switch and a ground lift switch. Two paralleled 1/4" input jacks and an XLR male output jack. If we need more DI boxes in the future, this is the one we'll get.
Comments about Live Wire SPDI Passive Direct Box with Attenuation Pad:
For the money, you can't beat this box. It's easy to use and well built. In fact, I am ordering two more units today so that I can have them for live acoustic performances.
Comments about Live Wire SPDI Passive Direct Box with Attenuation Pad:
Simple. Well built. Effective. Periodically I experience ground loop hum depending on the venue. I keep one of these in my bag of tricks to resolve.
